Everyone keeps saying you can't finish the line of
archaeology quests if you lose your dog
.

That's not true. I chose the "good" ending, and finished up half the quest line after the endgame. If you set them as your active quest, a golden line appears leading you to exactly where you need to go. It turns into a circle above the spot you're meant to
dig

SWEET! Thanks for that info. I will finish that quest line then.

Here's a 'wikia' page for Fable/Fable 2. While I have a feeling it's lighter in content than a full fledged strategy guide, the price is better.

After a quick perusal it's helped me decide what's left over that's worth doing.

http://fable.wikia.com/wiki/Main_Page

Looking at the legendary weapons leaves me a bit wanting. First, they just seem to be master weapons with a couple slots - I already have that. Second, combat isn't very hard and so it's not like I need the weapons anyway. Kind of takes the point out of doing the weapon quests, aside from just experiencing the dungeons.

Melee I roll with Master Katana and Lucky Augment (4 star) and Ghoul Augment (4 star)
Missile I've got Master Turret Rifle with Gold Augment (5 star) and Discipline Augment (4 star)

I've got a few lesser master weapons too when I feel like mixing it up.

I use master axe (99 damage). For ranged I used the pistol you get when you get 1st place at the west cliff shooting range. It only does 41 damage iirc but it shoots super fast and holds 4 bullets.

Other than that I use the rising sun (legendary weapon from temple of light) which does 61damage I think. Although it does extra against evil enemies.

but again anyone have the garth doll? I have all the dolls except for garth. I have plenty of theresas if you want to trade for that

Ok folks I have some questions concerning Fable 2 as I've been wanting to buy it for several weeks now, but I have some details I need to know before deciding wether I'll buy it or not.

I have a problem to the right arm muscle and the right trigger does mess it quick so I was wondering;

1/ Can you remap the buttons? Southpaw, whatever?
2/ Are the triggers used a lot?
3/ Is the right trigger more used than the left one?
4/ Do you have to maintain the triggers pushed when you use them?

Thanks to anyone who will take the time to answer this :)

1. remap buttons I'm pretty sure not

2. triggers are not used much, left trigger sometimes to focus on an npc....later on when you upgrade your shooting skills it is held down to target individual body parts on a person. Hold left trigger is also used to auto-focus on a single target during combat. although you dont need it to attack

3. the left trigger is used more, i think the right is used in game to change the spell you have equipped...there's 5 levels of spells. you can have the same one in each slot though. B is the magic button. if you tap it once it will activate your 1st tier spell. you keep it held in to charge the spell meter and go to the next tier. I only use 2 spells, 1st tier i got raise dead. 2 tier i have inferno (fireball), 3rd tier I have inferno as well. 4th tier I have raise dead (when you charge it to the 4th tier the ghouls you raise last longer and are stronger...and there's 4 ghouls not just 2 as on tier 1. 5th tier I have inferno which produces a much stronger fireball although you have to hold it to charge it. You can continue to charge your spell even if you're being hit by enemies.

I use raise dead to be mainly a decoy while I charge inferno and/or shoot my pistol. the good thing is the shooting button is Y as opposed to right trigger like most games.

4. No unless you're targeting individual body parts though that is not necessary since melee (which is button X) and magic (button B) are the most effective ways to shoot. I just shoot with Y button (auto aim to nearest target) You can hold it down to aim manually with left analogue (once you get that ability)

so all and all dude (I know I'm bad at explaining stuff) you dont really use left or right trigger at all like in a lot of games. the main buttons are

X - draw melee weapon, hold to block, tap to do melee, hold and direction of enemy is charged melee attack

Y - pull out gun, shoot, hold to aim..and move targeting reticle with left analogue

B - magic button, hold to charge to 1 of 5 tiers of magic spells, tap to use tier 1 magic

A - holster gun, put away melee weapon, hold to run, in combat you use to roll (like in gears)

I tried =(

You do use the right triggers a lot. RB for the expression wheel and RT for collecting XP. The latter you need to hold down the trigger for too.

Damn forgot about collecting xp and the expression wheel

Damn, $80 for a game and 30 hours later I'm done. This is the sad state of things these days.

Fuck this, I'm loading up an old Ultima game...

The game was great, but not $80 great.

How did you pay 80 bucks?

Canada? Collector's edition?

I got the game along with mirror's edge and far cry 2 in the gamestop buy 2 get 1 free deal.

Including the DLC I've put like 45 hours into the game and I still have a few quests/jobs to finish up

Thanks a lot for your answers. A shame this game hasn't got a demo. Will there be one someday?

Extras questions if you don't mind;

a/ The trigger holding for the xp, does it happen often, and do you have to hold it for long?
b/ That expression wheel is used a lot? I suppose it's something like hold RB + select with left analog? But it's not a long hold then.
c/ I think you forgot to precise if you had to hold the right trigger when swapping spells. does it work like the expression wheel?
d/ Just tipping on the left trigger will target an enemy without locking it, or do you really have to keep it maintained?

I can use triggers, it's really holding them for a long time (~10 seconds) that gets hardcore.
I want to make sure it is for me, rather than returning it after I figured out I can't play it (and I hate doing that, especially when the game is good).

Limited edition + DLC.

I've been playing the real estate game, but after a few Live trades for Hero dolls, I own all the real estate in the game. I pull in 20k every 5 minutes now and have nothing else to buy.

I have some gargoyles to find, a few silver keys, and have yet to finish the archaelogists quests, but those are just collection quests. I have a Master Axe with four augment slots and basically kill anything within 2 hits. My Enforcer + headshot is a guaranteed kill.

I have five families, one of which has 4 children and I make sure and take care of them daily. And yet, I have just 30 hours into the game. It's really disappointing. I'm playing an evil woman now, but frankly, I'm trying out other RPGs due to the massive hype this game instilled in me that was quickly shot down due to it's short time and bland story.

a. It happens every time you kill something. When something dies they spew out these orbs and you have to draw them towards you by holding RT. The length that you have to hold it for depends on how far away they are from you, so if you wanted to avoid holding it for long you could walk up to it where possible
b. It's used a lot but single presses is fine, you don't have to hold it.
c. You can completely avoid using the triggers for swapping spells by going into the menu with Start. It's slower, but I imagine in your case it's the better option.
d. The left trigger targeting is more for NPCs, which is done via a single button press. Enemy targeting is more or less automatic.

Game's sold well I doubt it'll ever have a demo unfortunately.

a - well the trigger holding for the xp happens after you kill every enemy, although you can wait until you kill all enemies and then you could use your left hand since you dont have to do anything else.

b - expression wheel is used a lot but i think rb just brings up the menu so you only have to tap it. what you hold down is A iirc. look at this video at 0:45 and it shows the wheel in action. again I'm pretty sure you just tap lb to bring up the menu, then move the cursor with left analogue but it is a that you hold down

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DPxsFISti1E

c - you can hold right trigger iirc to swap spells in game, but the easiest and most practical way is to just press start (pause) which takes you to the menu and you can assign spells there. there's only one spell button (B)...there's 5 slots

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qKh2hBLdTA0

look at around 0:50 to see the way magic is used. you hold b and that does the level 1 spell. the longer you hold it it goes to the next level, etc

d - i'm pretty sure you have to hold left trigger to target 1 enemy, although you can still fight them without holding left trigger. you'll just attack whoever is in the way of you

i usually dont use right trigger a lot since there's usually so many bad guys

F*ckin' hell I'm so getting this! Thanks to you guys. If you think of anything you forgot to mention regarding triggers, please post it here as I'll check around. Sorry if I sounded like a wuss.

edit : thanks for the details and video Chris, I really appreciate. Love Gaf.

The only other trigger related function I can think of is LB to go into a first person view, but I never used it, the regular camera is fine.

Was I the only one to have only one spell throughout the entire game? Raise dead + ranged weapon. That's all I needed. I only died in one fight. The big one.

didnt you say your wife was stuck to the wall. is that lady grey? I just got her and fairfax castle I'm afraid it'll happen to me

I only used 2, inferno and raise dead

I went raise dead and ranged for a while too, but I decided to max out inferno. Killing a bunch of stuff at once with the AE on max charge is very satisfying.

That was my combo as well. Seemed to be the most effective one. Once I got the enforcer I gave up magic altogether, since one shot killed every enemy after that point.

That's your fault for buying the Collector's Edition and the DLC.

Complaining about the price of a game after doing something like that... well...

I Am Just Saying.

I paid $70 (don't have the DLC, yet, might soon, dunno), and maybe I shouldn't have, but I'm not about to say the game cost too much when I'm the one who decided to be a fucking tool and pay ten extra bucks for a bunch of worthless crap.

...

I really need to hook up my 360 after moving back on campus. I want to see how much gold I have now. O:

well my old 360 died a week ago so I got an arcade jasper, 120 gig hd, and a 2 year best buy warranty

i forgot to back up my fable 2 save on my old hd so I had to restart, I installed fable 2 to the harddrive and it seems like the menus are quicker than before with just a slight pause (like 0.75s from hitting start till i can move the menus) as opposed to what used to feel like 3 seconds, so thats good, i had just finished the
the gauntlet/gladiators fight, right before your gonna leave the island on a boat
on my old save, about how far into the game was I back then?

anywho restarted im abotu 2 hours in now

To those like me that had the Purple Dye/Clothing Trader at Fairfax not appearing sometimes...deal...

To me he appeared usually kinda late (after 4PM)..
After that, get him to follow you to any of your houses/bed..
Keep buying his stuff (dyes), so his inventory is 5 stars..
Sleep, wake up, rinse and repeat.. :p

After much searching, had to do the same for the 2 Puny Carrots...since those are not 1 (low) but neither 5 (high) stars.

Yep. It seems pretty common too. Hope you have better luck than I did.

I still can't believe they never bothered to fix it.

They didn't bother to fix the quest giver vanishing for the Captain Dread quest, among other things. Half-assed fix for a half-assed game. I swear the original Fable had twice as much content.

The quest giver for that is outside the cave leading to the Captain Dread quest, not in the bar where you originally spoke to him. Unless you're saying he was missing in front of the cave, in which case I don't know what to tell you.

Basically. Though I liked having a lvl 5 force for times when I was surrounded with undead. Not that I really needed it, but it's just cool to watch them all explode in a slo-mo shower of bones as the framerate chugs. :D

Nah, I started out the game using Blades only, getting it up to level 3 or 4. Then I started using the Time Freeze so the high level Blades could charge up without taking too much/any damage. In the end game I used Force Push a lot as it ended up being a lot more powerful than I anticipated it would be. I tried to use Will as much as possible and there are still 3 or 4 spells I completely ignored through the game.

Really? Okay then. At least I can finish it, though it's annoying the game dumps me at the bar when I try to warp to him.

If anyone is missing one book in the DLC, go back into the first chamber (first use the ice token in the weather chamber).

Theres a sneaky little book through a door in the main room. You will see a chest that is frozen over... looking at the chest the door is to your left on the far wall. There is a book in that door that is kinda hard to see. (in this room there is also a switch that unfreezes the chest in front of you).

Anyway, hopefully that helps someone out.

I think that's the best situation to be in, the stuff you get from the quests and stores should make the endgame more fun.

Plus its kinda easy with a really experienced character.

Hm, I'm also still making my way through and I bought the DLC, and enjoyed it very much. I wanted to play as a Knight though, so if you want some new weapons and clothing options for the main game (besides the extra quests you get on the island), go for the DLC. There are some really useful items there especially if you arent through the game yet. (remove auguments, smaller/taller potion, 4 augumented weapons...)

Son of Godzilla said:

I'd wait and see if you can get through the game first. If you hit a game stopping glitch then you may regret your purchase.

so is it the patch or the dlc that is causing some to have framerate problems?

i haven't had any issues so far, but i haven't bought the dlc yet nor have i played since the patch was released.

The game is still piquing my interest after the main quest. That's something of a surprise.

Archeology Quest:
So I finish collecting all the artifacts and Belle opens the dig site door, just like I suspected she would. I kind of took a shine to Belle, her haughty attitude, those glasses, plus the Albion Rack never gets old. I'm thinking that after this quest is over maybe we'll spend some time together.

Anyway, into the crypt I go, fight the little spires, and whoa! Some big ass gem in a chest! Hopefully it's worth enough to buy the Cemetary Mansion and continue my adventure. So I get to leave and Belle won't let me! She wants the gem and I have to go through her to get it. My wife is on the couch saying "C'mon D, give her the gem. Let's see what happens, I want you to bed Belle!" (Can I pick em' or what?)

I tell my wife "Alright dear, you're the boss." Then I whip out my firearm, take aim, take aim again for the head, and BOOM! The game pauses while the end of quest screen is loading and we can really see close up what a turret rifle will do to a face at point blank range! I didn't know Molyneaux had it in em! The sick limey tosser! Belle's head goes flying and I gain 50 evil points, then I gain another 30. I wonder why I got two penalties, the headshot perhaps?

So now my wife is saying I'm awful but I prove otherwise by running out to Fairfax Gardens, showing off a trophy, doing a dance, some hip thrusts, and the whole crowd loves me, thus proving my wife wrong once again. How I wish I could have picked up Belle's head and used it as a trophy. I can imagine how that would go. "Oh look, Desperado has a new trophy. Hooray! Huzzah - wait, I know that face. OH MY GOD NO!"

So then my wife is nagging me now, as women do, saying I'll probably not be able to even sell the gem. So off to the Jeweller I go, a couple of hip thrusts and she loves me, and I get nearly 100,000gp. for the rock! That's when my wife got off the couch mumbling something about games shouldn't allow behaviour like that. Five minutes later I'm the proud owner of the cemetary mansion and ready for my next adventure.

Question: Where can I find Lady Grey? I think she's the one for me seeing as she's already dead so the impetus to kill her is somewhat diminished. Does she return to the mansion? Is she wondering about town, the pasty trollop? I want to marry me a corpse bride.

Really Lionhead? Really?

I find all 50 keys on my own with no guide and Im rewarded with 50k from the Fairfax chest? Really?

Fuck you!

Ive got countless millions already. REALLY shit decision there.

Wow, that's the final reward for keys?

I was making about $100k per day, and my system has been away thanks to RRoD for a couple of weeks. When I turn it on I'll be even more crazy rich than I was before. So that's not exactly a big reward...
