I'm stuck with the "Tomato Man" hunt ,i don't know where to go.Any advices fellow japanese Gaffers ?

Just press select to see where you need to go on the map to get out of the city. Once your are out of the city, he's not too far out.

I'm only going to say two things for now:

1. The graphics in this game are better than anything I've ever seen in my life. The visuals completely destroy every X360 game I own and show that tech doesn't make the world go round. I wonder how many years will pass until a game finally appears next-gen that tops these visuals.

2. Best game ever...and I'm not even slightly joking. Me and duckroll have had faith the entire time that FFXII would indeed be the greatest game ever made, we never wavered, and in the end we were right.

BB in a few days.

Thanks. You are really making the wait more comfortable!

Thanks Rugalz but i have not seen him ,just a T-REX,some living cactus and wild dogs.Does he appears randomly?

I didn't want to, but I succumbed and watched a few minutes of the intro video.

Am. bloody. cry. Looks brilliant, sounds brilliant, feels brilliant. FF is back.

This is so unfair. I am almost in tears that I don't have this.

Which one of you would like to come to my house and translate?

Got my hot sex delivered early today. The intro is great full screen and the first hour is really awesome. I can barely make out what they are saying, only hints and things but the actual gameplay stands head and shoulders above probably every JP RPG ever created.

Uhm, that's a bit much. The game looks great for a PS2 title, but it's still very obviously current gen stuff and comes with current gen visual issues, namely "jaggies" and shimmering. I think you're a bit too enamoured with the fantastic art direction and animation to make a fair judgement. :)

Now my favorite FF next to Tactics. I bow to you Mr. Matsuno.

I love him.

The ending is
a bit far out there.
This manages to rival Tactics story in a very different way. Tactics was more complex but the simplicity of this story hits you hard. At least a few references to Shakespeare and Melville.

Complex Literature indeed.

What kind of literary references are there? Can you tell me without spoilering? Just using vague terms or whatever.

Can anyone comfirm if the gameplay is mission based like in the demo or not?

And how is the story? Good, bad, confusing, sweet? No spoilers - just adjectives please. Read Deadly Monk's spoiler
but FF games always seem to go a bit crazy near the end
.

I think that's Bebpo's main point. That the no matter how many polygons you spew forth into a model or how glossy you make it shine, it amounts to nothing when you are being compared to a game that has low polygonal characters but contains high quality art direction and design. And that is what pulls out the trump card.

I think that's the point of duckroll's wiki..

Ease up, Bebpo, you've only had the game for a day or so!

NCS says the Asian version ships today and the JPN one tomorrow, but I have a tracking number that doesn't do anything yet. Maybe later tonight or hopefully tomorrow stuff will happen.

I guess I'll wait for duckroll & co's page to put up some info, 'cause now I'm *really* stuck. I'm just wandering around killing things :lol

I'll just say this:

Why are no-shimmering, no-jaggies, more-polgyons, a determination for better graphics/visuals? I mean if one game looks beautiful and another looks mediocre does the mediocre one suddenly look better if it has no jaggies/shimmering? If the image of the mediocre one is crisper than the beautiful one, does that really make for better graphics/visuals?

I think graphics/visuals is the complete package of everything and the end result that sits on the screen. FFXII is visually showing me more gorgeous images than anything any other game has shown me. To me, that gives it the best graphics.

Heck, it sounds like PS3 might even take these visuals up to a whole new level as well. :D

I suppose I'll be starting the game tomorrow. Can't wait!

I'm a bit worried about the FFXI comparisons, though. I just don't care for MMORPGs...

I agree that image quality (aliasing, filtering etc) isnt everything to graphics. But I think you may be considering the art direction more than anything, which is certainly a fair way to judge visual appeal. But technically its still only exploiting so much on 6 year old hardware. Still it doesn't surprise me that it holds up well to first gen 360 offerings for you, these are among the best artists in the biz afterall. From what Ive seen of videos the facial animation in the real-time cut scenes particularly blew me away.

Curious what kind of set are you playing on btw (sorry if you answered this already)? Im a little worried how its going to look on my Sony RP LCD. 480i PS2 on component has been pretty hit and miss. Is their a true 16:9 output or does it just stretch the image like DQ8?

I'm using the Sony XBR960 CRT HDTV. There's no 16:9 output or progressive scan, but with component cables and the TV's adjustment to image quality it looks pretty darn nice. There's a good dea lof shimmering, but it doesn't take away from the overall image much.

It might look pretty bad on your LCD as PS2 just really doesn't take to fixed pixel displays like LCD. But the flicker filter (smooths it slightly to add an AA x 2 look) might make it ok.

Ugh, I thought it was in better quality! :lol

But you know, If you want it in better quality, you can dl it on IGN! It's in two parts though. :D

It's on IGN?? Yeah, at least I'm going to give my insider suscription a use (I suscribed just for the E3 :lol)

spoiler free:

Phenomenal. You are greeted with one of the most fantastic, breathtaking glimpses of the world of FFXII in the intro CG movie. Even the very first picture we all cherished (the reddish color town) is seen. The opening music is something we are all familiar with; it cries nostalgia. The music is extremely powerful and excellent, vivid and clear. The truth of final fantasy is now revealed. FFX, FFX-2, FFXI are not worthy of the FF name. Matsuno is truly the creator of masterpieces.

lol, MATSUNO IS THE CREATOR OF WORLDS.

Some pictures from Ikebukuro, I got there at 6 and got in line. By the time they started selling at 7, the line had made it to the intersection, 2 people deep. So maybe about 100+~ I guess. I'm sure the Shibuya Tsutaya must have had more since they were doing the countdown events there. Unfortunately I had preordered at Bic weeks ago, before they announced the events, otherwise I would have gone there.

Oh, I was 11th in line, but out of the ten people in front of me, 7 of them bought the FF12 PS2 sets, seems like those are selling pretty hot.

So, if you absolutely hated the demo, is there the chance you will like the finished product or should we just not even bother?

I'd like to throw a gigantic "fuck you" your way. FFX was no less than great.

The demo did nothing but establish the battle system. Even then, it didn't do it quite that well since there were no guidelines as to what to do exactly.. that's how I felt when I went through it for almost 2 hours today.

The Gambit system is probably the biggest defining thing within the game, it's like a modified ATB system for the better. Everything is seamless, you can move towards your opponent/away depending on what you are doing. People are saying it's a lot like KOTOR and yeah it resembles it, but it's an entire mixture of that plus FF's usual ATB as well as a hint of Vagrant Story battle system.

Square games are always like that, but most places are giving 10% off so it's around 7900, and some as low as 6900. I had points at bic, so I only paid 4000 yen :)

Dirge was also insanely expensive, but you can already get it for 3500 yen used, so if it breaks 3000 I'm pickin it up.

Ahh... I have it, but can't play it because I'm at work. Damn year end reports...

Christ the hype is BLINDING.

I hope to hear more, nonhype fanboy tripe (like this above), impressions soon though.

Ok. So because FFXII appeals more to your stylistic preferences, it puts it above every 360 title you own. I see where you're coming from; it's not about technical prowess, but more about presentation and execution.

Wondergoo? You in Tohoku? Reminds of when I used to live in Akita, I bought Romancing Saga there.

Ahem, you just take the games you want to sell to anyplace that buys and be like " I want to sell these" "これを売りたいんですけど” "kore wo uritain desukedo" like that, they take 'em, scan the barcode, check the disc, give you a price. you have to feel out a form usually, name, address, and work, then they'll copy your gaijin card and thats it.

Just be careful, some games drop in price reaaaaaaaal fast. RPG's drop fast usually, I mean like to 1000 yen... kind of makes it not worth selling. I just sold Shadows of the collossus yesterday for 2500 yen after spending 3000 to buy it used though, that was cool :D
