FYI

The swiss press ist speculating today, that Peter Sauber will soon announce that he sells his Team to Carlos Slim (Team would become mexican), or at least be closing a large sponsoring contract. As a return they will instate (is that the right word?) mexican driver Sergio Perez as a teammate to Kobayashi, and keep Esteban Guitérrez as test-driver. All rumors though.
Source (German)

Sorry for the english. It's still early.

From the Formula 1 website:

Q: There have been rumours about an alliance between the team and Mexican billionaire Carlos Slim Helu, who has been looking for a way into Formula One racing for some time. Is there any truth in the rumours?
Peter Sauber: I could say that we don’t comment on rumours. That could be one possible answer. But how do rumours start? (Mexican GP3 driver) Esteban Gutierrez was already contracted to the BMW Sauber F1 team. We had him drive the car for one day last year at the young drivers test day, as this was contractually agreed and he did impress us. This was the reason why we took him. Gutierrez is contracted to us now and he has very close contacts to Mexico and especially to Carlos Slim. This is the reason why you will find Carlos Slim a bit more often in our hospitality than at those of other teams, but it is also no secret that Carlos Slim is a much-welcomed guest at all the other teams as well.

Q: With the prospect of a race in Austin, Texas, a Mexican tie-up would be perfectly timed…
PS: It is no secret that we are probably the best address for upcoming talents. We have proved that in the past, not just because I can spot a good, young driver, but also because the team is good for young drivers. You must never underestimate the human factor in nurturing talents. And there is another aspect to that. If a young, talented driver is doing well with us then the big teams immediately have that guy on their radar screen. We already face this again with Kamui. Driving with us is different to driving somewhere else and that makes our team interesting for young, talented drivers.

Q: A team that was once on the shopping list of a company like BMW could very likely also attract a Mexican billionaire…
PS: The team is attractive and has potential because it has an excellent infrastructure, absolutely comparable to that of the top teams. The fact that we cannot really rival the top teams is to do with our financial situation and head count. But the conditions are there.

Chandhok getting fucked again? He may not be that good, but he is no worse than what they have. They should take Chandhok and Klein for next year.

All about money, brotha. Poor guy can't secure sponsors. Pretty sure that's the reason he was replaced to begin with, despite being faster than Senna.

thou i think CKlien should be faster than Senna/Chandhok/Yamamoto

Senna qualified ahead of Karun 6-3, and I remember he being pretty much faster in races too.

That would blow, he's on his 8th engine.

Team normally run older engines on Friday, I expect the one in Alonso car was on earlier in the season.

From FP3 onwards they will run a newer engine, which however would have done one race!!!

yep, this is the catch. But damaging FP engine could be quite risky for next free practices. But we will see how will they managed it.

But also I hope for some rain on Sunday to spice all this up :D

EDIT: I know that I am quite drunk right now, but what is going on here? :lol

dry ice cooling for the drivers?
Kobayashi mentioned it is super hot in the cars there

Singapore = tropical climate

32°C (90 F)
89% humidity

That mechanic is blowing the cold air normally used to cool the brakes and engine, into the cockpit.

Hamilton slams 'ridiculous' chicane
"I think they made the track worse," said Hamilton of the changes. "The chicane is probably the worst corner I've ever driven in Formula 1. I mean, it's just ridiculous.

"Last year was already small, but now it's just more dangerous. We saw one car take off already, I think Adrian Sutil.

"You approach that corner at 160 mph and you have to brake down. If something goes wrong or someone's brakes fail and hits one of those kerbs, we are going to see a nasty accident."

F1Race Manager: After having 2 bad weekends in a row due to crashes, Vettel at Spa and Hamilton at Monza... I've decided to go for a combo of Hamilton and Alonso, with these 2 guys in the same team what could possisbly go wrong. *team* is subject to change.

If it rains tomorrow, its going to be carnage. With the high humidity and night conditions, it won't dry at all and kerbs will stay very slippery.

great, yellow flag on the last lap.
anyways Vettel looks unbeatable here and Alonso fairly strong. Also the track seems REALLY slippery in these semi-wet conditions. I expect lots of fail-LOL tomorrow and maybe later during quali :lol

It will be total demolition derby if it rains
Also this 'take-off kerb' could send someone flying during the race - some drivers said that if you miss braking spot, you could get airborne

oh and safety car or two will surely appear. Felipe will probably ditch himself into the barriers if Fernando leads the race :lol
'Felipe, Fernando is leading the race. Some Brazilian fans would REALLY like to take a picture with you at turn 17. Do you understand this message?'

I agree, Vettel looks unbeatable.
With Bruno Senna throwing his car off track at the last second we missed out on the pace of the rest but I reckon from the splits seen; Webber, Alonso & Hamilton are all around the same time.

The HRT looks like a total pig around this track. I expect Senna to crash during the race, probably bringing out safety car.
Corner 5 looks like it stays wet and all the drivers went off there in FP3 so it could be troublesome during the race tomorrow.

The humidity could also come into it, concentration and being able to last the conditions for the 90-100 minutes will be tough.

I love how Singapore looks at night, it's still really weird to see people talking before the race... in the dark :D

Yeah, there's slowing down cars and there's adding a ramp :lol

Vettel makes a mistake on first Q3 run.

Only one more attempt for him and Hamilton to pip Alonso.

Webber is strangely off the pace this weekend.
