As time constraints never allowed me to post early versions of my song for feedback, I would appreciate any on my track, 'FUERTE'

I was going for a slow, methodic, dirty sounding beat and bass for some nice slow-mo drifting, etc.

I'm worried it sounds a little muffled on the comp. maybe it needs a touch of treble, Monchi? could be my speakers tho.

The uptempo four-on-the-floor stuff is a bit easier to rock out with, I think that has a lot to do with it.

I'll DL this when I get home tonight.

Good job. Damn homies!

I submitted the wrong track, but it seems to blend alright. It skipped during the start for some reason.

Track order imo is perfect.

Shazbot, i'm hearing weird shit on some of the renders...i'll re-render the files sortly, hopefully no more artifacts

I can try to boost the high end a bit if you want, check the re-renders when i post em later today. i'll start by boosting a narrow range of your upper freqs.

I can't listen to flac files on my computer, I don't have the codec for it and had HUGE MASSIVE problems (mainly with Fallout 3, weird) installing codec packs in the past and refuse to do so anymore.

That being said, can someone make sure my song (Pirahna1 - 4CID) in the flac version is the same as the MP3 version? The MP3 version sounds fine, so I have no reason to believe the flac won't as well, I just wanted to make sure :D

Alright, re-rendered the files, don't have time to listen to entire tracks but from what I skimmed the issues with artifacts seem to have been cleared.

GAME6 MP3 v2.zip - 131.65MB - slightly higher quality MP3 files at a constant bitrate

GAME6 FLAC v2.zip - 483.30MB - updated FLAC set, TripWarrhawkins' song had artifacts

m0dus, the more I listen to your track the less inclined I am to touch it. the track sounds great on my end. maybe others can chime in

Holy shiiiit, I just checked all the tracks; this album ROCKS! Definidrift is my fave.

Btw I didn't hear any artifacts in my tracks (Cruising At 157 BPM and Slowrider) so I'm all set.

i wish this game came out a week later. i have another song almost finished for this but id need a day or 2. guess itll have to wait for gt5. that way itll be perfect by then i suppose ;)

So I realized that Winamp plays FLAC files natively and checked out my song in there. There are a few 'hiccups' in my song in the FLAC version, but not the MP3 version. They are at the 0:08, 0:13, and 3:11 marks.

Can someone confirm these for me to make sure they're not just artifacts from my download or Winamp?

k in my song i think i need to resend or something, a held high note in the little breakdown in the middle sounds way too loud, and the bass seems too quiet. FUCK FUCK FUCK ME i am retarded. volume sounds great though and i didnt notice clipping. any chance i could send you a properly mastered one again monchi? i know you probably hate me now :(

k heres the new version. once again, i apologize monchi. thank you so much for doing this for us.

http://www.megaupload.com/?d=8BEFBI6U

also, what are you doing to make the tracks louder? you got my track at the perfect volume. just a compressor? what are the settings? id be really grateful if you could fill me in. i'm very rookie at compression.

and pirahna im currently downloading the FLAC version right now so i will doublecheck for you :)

Daaaaamn Monchi ! Sounds GREAT !

:D ! ! !

Edit: Holy shit guys ! Amazing... just amazing !

I absolutely agree with you. This albums sounds sooo good man.

Some of the cymbal crashes kinda disappear from the first part of KYOTORING and the final synth part sounds really weird - the tape delay kinda runs all over itself, though that's probably my fault. Other than that everything sounds good.

Some of you guys really knocked it out of the park - Blutonium, you're gonna have to show me how you got that big clear sound out of everything - m0dus too, though I say that every comp. If my productions sounded that slick I'd go on tour. And who did the jazzy menu track? That's awesome.

I dig 4CID, though I admit I was waiting for you to cut loose with the acid lead synth - you kind of tease a couple of times but never come out and full-on kick our asses with it. That would have really taken it to the next level.

I've already listened to Voyage a bunch of times on Soundcloud, that track's a hit.

I remember hearing an earlier version of REV, that track really came together well at the end. Is that guitar the real thing? If that's not I'm going back to the drawing board. Love the talky synth too. Incidentally, how do you do the thing like you do at the end where the synth speeds up? I see DJs doing it all the time, but I have no idea what does it.

I'm digging The Line, I like the deep house groove, nobody else is doing that here but it's great luxury car driving music.

Win the Chase has such a kickass intro, I wish I could run that much reverb without everything turning into slush. Did you overdrive the master or something? That sound is huge.

Good job all round guys, I hope you're as pumped as I am for the GT5 followup; I've already started my track.

Your 3 tracks fit the genre really well LFK. I especially like Sakyo-ku Drift with its congas. I had already listened to the 3 of them on SoundCloud.

I really like Che's Deception too, but I'm not surprised since I usually like all of Trip's contributions, they really have their own unique style. I have to say some parts hurt my ears though, the ones where there's a very high pitched sound, like at 6:08. Probably won't affect me when played on the TV though.

Tune Interlude is a nice breath of fresh air, perfect for the menu! Who made that one?

I also have no idea who made Definidrift but it's really cool. The guitar is of course what stands out. I can already imagine racing pretty fast to this song.

REV has a sweet intro. I've already listened to this one on SC a well, I really like the mix of instruments in this one: the bass, the synth and the guitar. All with the glitchy voicy synth, sweet.

I'll try to write something for the rest of tracks later as I have to go now.

Alright, I'm back from japan and will start to tweak eq issues you guys are finding. Fuck FLAC...or maybe it's my converter. Updated renders will post tonight with tracks from ultim8poo.

Start writing up your song info guys, tips tricks & inspiration (and screenshots).

Tune Interlude = Lil Smoke = - bows -

That was my first guess - I knew it had to be someone producer-y, the soundscape is too good.

Incidentally, I hear a bit of warping/clipping in it at 0:17 & 0:20 (MP3 version), might wanna check that out.

Maybe I should just upload the AIF files, they're all pristine. I've been doing all the conversion on my MBP, I'll see if there's a difference with the way the desktop outputs the files.

Oh, I'm using a real guitar for REV

monchi did you dl my updated file that i put up last night? a few posts up.

Alrighty then, going to get cracking on the last set of files tonight and will post final drafts in the morning for feedback. As the proud minister always says "speak now or forever hold your peace." if I don't get feedback by the end of sunday Oct 25th then I will take that as an "i do" and mark your track as final.

I'm expecting the launch thread to have post from all participants on how they made their tracks. This is not just for each other's benefit but its a way for us to contribute to the (hopefully) growing community around these projects.

Now, don't bother me...i'm busy tweaking YOUR songs :D

Alright, updated mp3 files, encoed at the highest bitrate possible for the format. Also added some last minute submissions from Ultim8p00 and Iron Scimitar

GAME6 MP3.zip - 225.32MB

This is it, this is where you guys get to comment and request tweaks to your songs. No substitutions unless there's something seriously wrong with the master files you sent.

All feedback must be in by the end of day of October 25th.

morning bump for anyone who missed it....just gave the set a listen from start to finish and a few tracks may need to be lowered a tad so we don't get perceivable fluctuations in loudness

Honestly, unless the fluctuation is really significant - like ear/speaker damaging or way out of whack, I don't think it's a big deal. Listening to it the first time it didn't sound different from any other album in terms of variation in perceived loudness, except for those tracks which were well mixed and had a big sound. Without seeing the actual db levels, I think you can probably rest on that one (imo).

EDIT: Co-sign on the idea to release the .aif tracks, if we can handle the bandwidth (I'll put up my rapidshare & .mac)

We're talking a little over 1.2 gigs for the AIF files but they are oh so pristine. How about rendering as Apple Lossless, FLAC or OGG? At least the package won't be as big.

FLAC & OGG are the natural enemies of iTunes, I'd go with something a bit more universal.

monchi, sorry for asking again, but do you know the compression settings you put for my song? id like to know how to set mine up to make my other songs louder.

I used a Multipressor on the tracks, I'll post a screenshot of your track's setting in a bit

Here's your multipressor settings at the loudest point of your song (i think, screen cap software might have a delay)

Alright. here's the final layout. let me know if there are any mistakes that need to be corrected:

2agq25d.jpg

I went for a design that is friendly to Forza's look, but with the intention of keeping it unique to the GAME series of covers (note the neogaf logo placement.)

Also, the Gran turismo cover will utilize the same format, save for the opposite angle of the car tire, and a GT-friendly color scheme (much like the preview I posted a few pages back)

Extremely awesome. I love the gradient from yellow to red-ish. The thing with "Vol.6" on the bottom is also neat. Is there a reason the Forza 3 logo on the upper left is all white? Maybe the original with the orange "F" would have been too present?

Very nice, it will definitely make for a sweet double album once I print them.

I'm alright with any track order personally. We're launching the thread tomorrow? Can't wait!

Hopefully it doesn't plumet down the page too quickly, there's always the sticky option though.
