24bit with 44100 Sample Rate - check your bouce/export settings fellas :)

oh, and make sure you are NOT exporting as a loop, Soundtrack Pro will get nasty with your song's tempo :D

The one thing I regret selling, I miss my electribe.

heads up to laptop musicians: http://www.akaipro.com/laptopseries

screw the nano key series (well, maybe the nano kontrol is still nice) just got these babies today, so nice to have that full desktop feel on the go

The midi keyboard doesn't do much for me; it gives you a half octave more than Logic's built-in musical typing does, but you also have to carry it around so that's kind of a wash. The pad is slick though, nice toy for under $80.

Hey, I remember a while back you linked to a weird/cool synth software that was based on circles, do you remember what that was?

"Incidentally, has anybody got any opinions on samplers? The Korg Electribe EMX-1 looks fun as heck to me:"

My track was made entirely with Maschine, which is very similar to groovebox/samplers like the electribe, MPC, etc. I like it a *whole* lot. The immediacy of hardware with the convenience of technically being software on your computer. The workflow on grooveboxes is very fast, IMO. That said I didn't get too crazy with the Maschine this time around as I'm still learning my way around it.

I was actually really close to buying an elextribe EMX-1 last year. This guy on youtube named DenkiTribe has some sick stuff working on it. See: This.

Alot of DAW's can't even process at 32bit, most of them run 24bit max and use 32bit as a float for bouncing tracks to free up CPU space.

Most dedicated mastering programs can run 32bit but not much else from my knowledge. I know that Logic basically goes to shit when you try to bring a 32bit file in as an audio track.

Yeah, FL Studio 8 exports 32bit float or 16bit int (w/e that is). I always export at 32bit float.
This is going to be my last project in FL hopefully. Time to start learning Ableton - I'm sick of FL's limitations when working with pure audio. FL Edison can kiss my arse :lol

Aside: What Audio Interfaces are you guys using? I'm looking at getting a Presonus FireBox, but Presonus says it might not work with my PC because I have an nForce4 motherboard. Can anyone confirm or deny that? I've read some reports of it working for some people. I'd rather not buy a new mobo, but that interface looks nice.
It's either that or an Audio Kontrol 1, which is more expensive and has less inputs/outputs. Anyone using that either?

Phew! Finally got all my tracks mixed, bounced and uploaded. And it's still only 10:40 PM Oct 17 on the island of Attu, plenty of time left. Monchi, PM sent.

Yes! That's the one. That thing is crazy. Some of the demo tracks are pretty spectacular.

Yeah, that guy is what pushed me from curiosity into wanting to buy one. This track is amazing:

Teknopathetic Oh and since this seems to be a good place to post electronic musician news (since there's not really an official thread for that or anything), AAS UltraAnalog VA-1 is 15$ (from the normal 200$ price) on audiomidi.com. AFAIK, this is actually the same synth as "Analog" inside Ableton Live but with a different skin. For 15$ it's a pretty easy buy.

Can you direct us to any audio demos of it?

I don't have one yet, but everybody I talk to who I think knows what they're talking about keeps telling me that the Apogee Duet is the best bang for the buck on the market:

Monchi do you need me to resend my track? I sent it as a 32bit float. I'm about to render my second track so I need to know if 32bit float is alright. I can render them as a 24bit int if you prefer, I'll just resend.

Here's what my 2nd track sounds like. I really ran out of time in the end (I've been busy), I actually made most of it during a single night lol. About everything in that track is made with Gross Beat.

yep, resend as 24bit

if possible please name your file as "Song Title (Artist Name).file extension"

Sorry for the stupid question, but how do we do this? Send it straight to Mochi or post it up on Soundcloud and he downloads it from there?

Here's mine: http://soundcloud.com/dark-octave/out-to-get-you

upload a file as a 24bit uncompressed WAV or AIF file @ 44100 sample rate. use zshare.net or rapidshare

EVERYONE...GET ME YOUR TRACKS!!!! We gotta get this released a few days before the game comes out!

Seeing as some contributors have been banned (ultim8p00, Trip, maybe more?), should there be some kind of email specifically for GAME projects? That way they can still send their tracks. They might still read the thread.

Yeah, if anybody out there is banned and wants to get in on this, (Yasae, Trip etc.) you can email me at (spoiled for google protection)
livefromkyoto@me.com
and I'll hook you up.

Hey guys, I've been busy with school lately so I haven't worked on my tracks a lot. I sent them to Monchi-Kun.

I'm still on time right? Just wanted to say I'm still in.

oo

been out of the loop.
I'll send something shortly, feel free to go without it..

...

2 cents.

Songs should probably be submitted at highest sample/bit rate, and the 'masterer' down samples for the final using dithering as the last process.

SDZeta...your track is showing up as a loop file. resend!

Just to make sure, in the looping mode options, there's:
-Leave remainder
-Cut remainder
-Wrap remainder

Which one is it? Cut or Wrap?

That only applies to exporting a loop. Leave remainder trails off reverb, etc - cut remainder just stops all sounds when the playlist gets to the end - wrap remainder wraps the tail around to the beginning of the track for a seamless loop.

You might have Save ACIDized turned on. Turn that off and it should fix the problem.

monchi, i think i may need to resend my track later today. my track came out fucked in my headphones when i listened today. can barely tell whats going on in the song. ugh. im so sorry!

got the file, off to work in a bit...will continue leveling the tracks tonight. should have the first round of renders posted by thursday evening japan time

Adjusted your artist name....when i post the 1st pass @ leveling the tracks you will see your song title and artist name in parenthesis. please verify so i can make tweaks for the final release.

Everything's sounding good good fellas, just need Permutated's tracks and we've got 25...count em 25 songs for this comp!!!! w00t...lets RACE BITCHES!!!!

i've been listening to everyone's tracks with the leveling tweaks, this comp is the shit...so much good stuff, especially when you just listen to the songs go one after the other. it just blends so well, so much moreso than anything we've worked on before

Can't wait for this release! All you guys did an amazing job with the Wipeout HD soundtrack and I loved some of the preliminary work I heard in this thread.

Quick question, will Forza 3 handle the music like WOHD did? Meaning we hear the tracks during racing but the default music when in menus, etc.?

I think turn10 did a great job picking ambient/mellow stuff for the menus and while we paint and I'd like to hear it without having to mess with the mini-dashboard music controls.

So I bought this...it's pretty cool, but it doesn't do much that the synths in Logic don't already do. It's got a really nice warm sound though, for $15 it makes a decent toy.

It's pretty much Ableton Live's Analog with a few extra knobs - shares the same code from the same coders. I was going to get it but decided It's really not worth the cost.

First off, i miscounted the total number of tracks. We currently have 17 (not the 25 I mentioned, Soundtrack Pro was numbering my tracks wrong). Once Permutated gets his 2 tracks in we'll top off at 19 tracks.

Without further ado, here are the links to the tracks. Please give me feedback ASAP. I'm linking the MP3 and FLAC renders. FLAC is higher quality of course...

Once again Soundtrack pro was giving me "issues" so please please please give these a really good listen but do take time to listen to the whole thing and let me know how well the album is meshing sonically

GAME6 MP3.zip - 124.24MB

GAME6 FLAC.zip - 488.73MB

Started to contact banned/potential contributors via Soundcloud. We'll see if we get some bites...i know I set a hard deadline for submissions but some of the comps from the banned gaffers are promising.

Alright I just listened to both my tracks. Voyage sounds perfect, but you can notice some skipping in Plastik Elastik between 0:38 and 0:45. That might just be a rendering glitch?

Now to listen to the rest of the album. :D

yep...happens to be one of my favorites in the comp

It might b a rendering issue, I was using variable bit rate for the MP3. I'll re-render using a constant bitrate.

aight, tis passed midnight here in Tokyo so i'm gonna sign off. please post your individual track feedback in the thread. i'll check it for "readjustment" instructions when I get back in the US on friday.
