Official Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess thread

I think everyone isn't talking because their playing the game. With that being said, hopefully they take a break and give some excellent, concise impressions. :D

Wait a sec...this game is OUT? Is there going to be a Gamecube version or no? :(

Um, I guess you're serious, so yes, the Wii version is out, GC will arrive either Dec. 12 or 13 depending on which day it ships. I'm talking about NA here.

Yeah, I'm serious. Haven't been keeping up with these things at all really...just off and on and whatever I see on G4 Tech TV.

I'll pick up the GC version.

Gotcha, didn't mean to come off as defensive, I just really couldn't tell. ;)

I'm also waiting for the GC version. I really hope it's in stores on Dec. 12, but the last thing I saw said the 13, so we'll have to wait a bit longer for confirmation I guess.

I highly disagree about the sword combat. It has always been a staple in the series. Always. That is why it is supposedly refined in this one. WW brought in the parry/critical strike/whatever its called system to the LOZ series, which in turn made things a lot easier, but also a lot more fun. In TP, the spin move, finally got balanced, Link gets a ton more sword fighting moves, and his jump down and stab of ownage back. Hell, the only thing to make everything come full circle, would be if he could shoot lasers from his sword when he has full hp again.

Haha. I can hear the sound effect of the magical laser sword from LttP in my mind right now.

Anyway, I didn't play Wind Waker either, so I might give that a go at some point as well.

Exact same thing I thought and didn't post when I saw his review before going to sleep at 2am last night. Hilarious really. Saying sword swinging isn't a major part of Zelda and yet saying there's a problem with it and then topping it off with a "10" overall!!!

Your review is a joke.

Agreed and agreed.

Obviously if you find a fault in something you're not going to give it a perfect rating. Even Matt gave it an objectivly fair score.

Yeah well i give you an 8.8 :lol

Are you gonna end up getting a wii?

Ive got a bunch of expenses i gotta pay before i decide to spend the dough.

Edit: i feel sorry for the poor guy who wrote the review. Maybe, just maybe if i didnt say anything at the start he would of gone under the radar to safety.

Nah who am i kidding.

I dunno dude, at this point I just don't know. I mean I got fired for not coming to work for 3 weeks so the little extra money I did have is now gone, and I can't see myself buying a whole system for just one game while there is a cheap (and perhaps better ;P) alternative.

Are you sold on it yet?

:lol my old job was such b/s that people didn't come in for 2 weeks and my boss wouldn't care at all, I mean we literally had a lot of people. So I decided that I didn't feel like going when school kicked back in...to be honest though that weekend I was going to go, but I got this message on my voice mail "um I think like Michelle fired you because you didn't come in." Oh well =\. Awesome a car what kind...er just PM haha.

Yeah though we'll see, but for now I'm not really sold on the Wii =\.

hey so if I walk in to Best Buy or EBstop will it be there? they didn't have it at walmart last night which worries me about its availability.

I just finished goat herding and am roaming around the village (im sorry im too tired too remember the name after waiting in line almost a day for Wii and little sleep)

awesome this game is.

I still have my Gamecube and still have Gamecube version reserved at GameStop.

I noticed something..... while guiltily playing Zelda on my Wii, i glanced over towards my Gamecube sitting to the side, and my Gamecube frowned at me..... as if you say
"you a**h***, how dare you, that game was made for me!"

I'll be going into this knowing very little about the game, which I think is the best way to go. I hope it's good. Last Zelda I played was 64, and that was pretty cool, but kind of overhyped IMO. Still fun, aside from the bare overworld.

Change your avatar mr. KOBUN HEAT CLONE

We all know what happened to the guy who used AniHawks avatar.

ok i got the fishing rod, but have not been successful in catching anything. only once did i get "Fish On" but the fish got away. it's really difficult to get the fish to bite. im not using any bait (is that for sale somewhere?) just what the rod came with. im not really even used to the fishing controls.... this is fun, but obviously i don't know what the hell im doing.

p.s. moving the rod around and casting with the Wiimote works and feels really nice. now i have to learn how do to this.

btw, getting the fishing rod in the first place requires a task to be done, and i figured that out very easily. oh well, i kinda knew anyway after watching the hidiously boring Gamespot video. p.s when you miss with the 'you know what' and have to 'call it again' you can skip the cinema by pressing minus.

Wiggle the rod back and forth to attract a fish and when "FISH ON" appears, pull the remote back to catch it. Took me about 2 hours to figure that out.

I guess i'll ask in here;

Anybody know for sure what the differences between the Wii and Gamecube versions are?

I know that Wii = 16:9, Gamecube = 4:3
But you can't use the Gamecube controller on the Wii Version correct?

Any other differences other then the few "wii enhanced" features of the controller?

The intro to the game is slooooow.

I thought I was gonna get bashed to hell for coming into this topic and posting this, but it seems like I'm having way less trouble than a lot of posters. Only took me TWO laps around the town to sort everything out ;)

As for fishing, you gotta be doing it in the right spot -

Behind the Pumpkin Patch, where the Cat is.

then just cast, and wait. I dunno if it was where I cast specifically, but I couldn't *see* the fish on my line. Just my bobber. then I just "hooked" the fish by sharply pulling the Wiimote up quickly. If you put too much strain on it the fish'll get loose, same as in Ocarina.

EDIT: And I also did NOTHING to get the two fish on the line. Cast, and they came right up after about 10 seconds. No bait, no waggle.

Wii version is also mirrored.

Hey GAF, out of curiosity did anyone else get a defective booklet? Mine starts at page 4, followed by page 13 to 28, where it then repeats pages 21 to 28, finally ending at 37 or something. Odd. Do you think Nintendo customer service would send me a new one free of charge?
