Yeah, it's still money, but it looks like FB dive isn't. Suck it down, DM! :D

Dms bread and butter is gone. What will he do now that he can't rely on his FB to bail him out on every 3rd and short???!? :lol

You need to understand the tools of the trade to TE cheese.

I don't know if you are worthy of becoming my apprentice and learning the craft. Only the best of the best are allowed in the school!

I could probably afford the tuition with the change in my piggy bank!

I'd like to see a comparison of your TE receiving yards vs mine.

You think you're dealing with Al Davis or Carmen Policy here?!?

Fix that deal to include a real player like TJ, Curry, Tatupu, or Trufant and we may get somewhere! :D

Russell is the first player with a GRT rating of 100. You're missing out.

Hey how did you last madden season go? Sub .500 was it, right?! Did you even scratch out 7 wins? :D

I'm still making the playoffs on a regular basis, and if you go to the playoffs enough times you are bound to have some luck!

Antonio Gates led the league in receptions with 67 and was 9th in receiving yards with 734. Oh, and he was also 10th in YAC.

None of the Bears players were even on the radar. :(

I wonder if one of my favorite third down tactics will be as effective with Carlson!

Will it be effective? Maybe. As effective as Gates? Highly doubtful. :p

Damn, none of my receivers were in the top ten in yards even though JRuss had the second most yards and the most completions. Spreading the love!

Nope, not from my experiences.

You're the one missing out on recreating a lil something special. Reuniting Julius Jones and Marion Barber would essentially make you guys the Cowboys of the north!

Roddy White would be a restricted free agent but I don't actually think him or Norwood will make it to the open market before the Falcons lock them up to extensions.

I think that list might be outdated...I could've sworn Sellers signed a new deal. And James Thrash was already released in 2009.

Oh c'mon DM, you and I both know that the team has infinite time and funding to fix every single problem with Madden AND add tons of new exciting features! :lol

i think what most people who are complaining about online franchise don't realize is this:

EA DIDN'T NEED TO DO IT.

you were going to buy madden whether online franchise was in or not. and guess what would have happened if it WASNT in? we would have to use fucking league daddy and enter ALL OF OUR OWN STATS!

so yeah, its "disappointing" that there aren't contracts/salary cap, but the alernative is 1000000 times worse.

yes EA should have had leagues long ago, yes they probably would have had franchise mode a couple years ago if 2k was still around. but that didn't happen. and now we have a pretty good online franchise mode with the tools to do things on our own if we want or to leave it as-is!

i remember last year when EA had their shitty online leagues released and i said you know what, all i want is for them to give me the ability to run the league the way i want it. they dont have to do shit beyond giving us a place to setup the games and track our stats. they've given us that (and more!) in one years time and it's awesome!

kudos to tiburon i say!

i think it got extended to 2012 (when the world ends anyways).

also, the NFL is currently in court over the matter. not sure if anything is going to come of that

p.s. dm did you say Ian Cummings or Tony Romo? fucking twwwiiiiinnnss!!

The deal was extended to 2013!

Guess what ends before that? 2K's terrible MLB deal in 2012! Have they made ANY money on that? :lol

MVP 2012! Get ready, FMT!

Is there really any other explanation why it's been omitted then? I'm more than willing to give them the benefit of the doubt, but if that's the case then their priorities are fucked.

It just seems like such a big part of the mode to leave out. And their "work around" solutions don't help their cause at all IMO.

After all the blogs, previews, tweets, posts on forums, etc, do you honestly think they are holding anything back in their 12 months to make this game? It couldn't have been that they just didn't have enough time to put EVERYTHING in this mode in their first year in control of the franchise?

I could see someone feeling this way if the old regime was still there, but these guys have been more open than any sports developer in history.

I found it funny that David Ortiz was teasing guys with online franchise back in 2007 ("If we can do online franchise, we can do online leagues! LOL!" STFU), and Ian said when he joined the team, the first thing he wanted to start on was online franchise. That means Ortiz didn't even start on it back in 2007, or even 2008?! What a joke!

I agree that they've been more than open about the entire process of developing this years game. But I'm also not blaming the Tiburon team directly either. A decision like this could easily come down from Redwood. Not that I'm one for conspiracies. But I wouldn't put it past any huge corp. who's lively hood is based on selling units and is also the only game in town.

Weren't they saying they'll conduct a patch quickly for the CAP and contract lengths?
I highly, highly doubt that. With the wording they have given in recent interviews, I think that it's gonna go the way of the 09 DLC. It seems like a daunting task to actually do it, and then it would "break" all the leagues that would be going on when they patch it (unless they made it an option). In addition to that, you get the backlash from people having to reset their leagues because they want contracts/cap. It's best to not even think of it as a possibility and formulate alternatives now.

Sounds to me we will have to do something like assign a dollar value to each player that directly correlates with their skill rating and then limit people based on that. Since these values fluctuate, it could act as a pseudo valuation system that may reflect the market value of that particular player and could make for a risk/reward system over the seasons.

Yep. I have zero faith that they will actually patch any of those things into the game. I think the "Don't worry, it's possible for us to patch it in!" line is just to appease those of us that are annoyed by the absence of what seem to be pretty standard features of an online league.

Imagine if NCAA online came out without recruiting or graduation.

lol. salary caps and contracts are a "pretty standard features"? in what game? what online console sports game has ever had that? what online console sports game has ever had an online franchise mode?

Imagine if NCAA online came out without recruiting or graduation.

except madden '10 has "recruiting" as well. so no cap and no contracts would be MORE equivalent to saying "hey there's no limit on the # of recruits you can sign and players never leave early!"

Well, I'm not saying that it's impossible or that they are holding back. I'm just saying it's better to be prepared than to pray for a miracle.

PS: Online franchise has the two equivalents to recruiting and graduation (rookie draft/scouting and retirement).

PPS: not that I'm saying contracts/cap isn't important. In fact, I think it's very important and no one is more disappointed than me about it.

i just think people are losing sight of how big of a 1 year jump this is. this is basically what everyone has always wanted. it is missing a couple of important things but is this better than league daddy or not?

and i'm not an EA apologist like ramirez is! infact, i created a thread a couple years ago dedicated ENTIRELY to bitching at EA for not having online leagues (as if they ever saw it here on gaf anyways)

I am very excited about all the changes. I think the fact we don;t have to enter stats is HUGE. As for the lack of a cap and whatnot, I think we just have to accept that this will be more like a fantasy league than a franchise mode and just have fun playing ball. I am actually more interested in the gameplay changes more than anything else.

We're still gonna have to do homework because there are no contracts. If we institute the system FMT proposed, we're still gonna have to go team by team and take down the list of players we have over whatever arbitrary number we're allowed to have of each tier.

I was going to suggest a detailed system that would give us the closest thing to contracts, but no one has liked it so far. I'm beginning to think that the best option is to not have a system. Capless franchise, bitches! Anything goes!
