Official Madden 13 Xbox 360 Online Franchise Thread:Stat padding? Never heard of him.

So, uh, who is doing this LJ? You bring it up after your game with Crow, is he doing it?

I only ball hawk on deep bombs after the throw, it's the only way to stop them against tall WRs.

You ran it again and again, it was like 5-7 times on the game winning drive. Just like you said. Make one LB miss / break the tackle and all the DBs are 20 yards down the field because you send 4 receivers deep. That may happen in a Michael Vick game, but no chance it's designed to happen again and again, but yeah sure, you coached a sim game.

Thats because any coach worth a damn would adjust. Am i supposed to just stop because you cant play a zone, your players are too slow, and you cant play manual D worth a damn?

I've held Y and never made a secret of it. You saw that first hand with me switching with the ball in the air and picking you off 4 times!

But I don't hold it at the start all play every play.
And now I won't ever again hold it at the start of the play. Didn't even think about it and if I knew it caused issues I would have made an effort to never do it

Wait, why would you have ever done this in the first place? Not knowing about any potential game breaking aspect, what would you hope to gain by this, assuming the game worked how we think/thought it was supposed to work?

Ease up a bit cb...

Maybe people thought it was similar to holding down A in past games?

So I guess I should just come out and say it because it's what I feel should have done from the get go. Ballhawk is completely overpowered when used right at the snap. Ball is snapped, immediately hold Y, profit. Watch as receivers don't separate, as soon as the receiver is targeted every defender releases from their assignment, doesn't matter if they're facing the target, they cut off and head to the target. Everyone has spidey sense.

It doesn't matter who you're controlling, you can be a safety, cb, lb, maybe even a dt/de for all I know, but if you're holding Y from the get go everyone gets ballhawk. Every defender flows to the ball better, or chases in zone, as long as you sit there holding the Y button like a complete scrub.
I fucking knew it! Fuck everyone and everything! Especially FMT! FUUUUUUUUUUU!!!!

Also, the fumble thing explains A LOT! Thrasher you jerk!

I'm just kidding. <3 Trasher

I won't have to worry about the insta-hit stick accusation because I make all my own tackles for better or for worse :( Don't force or recover many fumbles. The Y button shit is such bullshit and I have noticed it out of some teams. Makes it impossible to throw over the shoulder. Especially this season. It's like people got wise, but I was left out of the loop.

I also hate that, if you actually play manual defender, sometimes the guy you are controlling won't react at all to your button presses. He'll just stand there like a fucking idiot while the WR catches the ball. I'm pretty sure it's ballhawk related.

PS: GAME IS TRASH!

Yep, happens to me too.

So wait, since I have the worst defense in the game it's because I cheat less than everyone else? I'm the best!

Because he knew it was bullshit from the start when I was saying it was and he would condescend with a "BUBUBUBU Y" post. You knew it all along you dirtbag! Crooked commish! Eznark was right!

Putting my guy into good position instead of pushing Y at the exact second on a pass play

Oh shit, speaking of GOAT, I realize in the awards, FMT put Y in as best manual defender. THE PLOT THICKENS! Eznark for player union rep to balance out the power! It would be deliciously ironic!

Best Manual Defender - Y button

Over the years many people have won this award. CB, rors, dm.... but they are all crushed under the iron fist that is holding Y! Now, even people like eznark can get a pick here and there. No skill needed!

Not at all. This made my day. You came close (thanks to unbeknownst twins issues early in the season) and you choked it away at the end by playing the most vanilla D in history all the way down the field. That should have been the end of it there but you continue to bring it up a full year later. Which is fine! I appreciate knowing that still burns inside you today and i look forward to our matchup when i play the AFC South.

Instead of playing defense? This is very dissapointing. I had no idea that holding Y affected anything prior to a pass being thrown. How dare you give dcx shit for holding A in past versions when this goes far beyond what that did.

Week 17...

I've already said I had no idea pressing Y did anything before the ball was thrown. At least I own up to any questionable plays as soon as they are brought to my attention.

Lol alright. I don't do it always and had no idea it broke the game. I haven't noticed a difference in my D playing one way or another but to claim I'm purposely trying to use an exploit is a joke

Madden 13 Season One Superbowl Winner: FMT****

As if his OP defense wasnt enough!

Whatever makes you feel better for being a career choke artist. As I said, I didn't know that caused issues and didn't do it much anyways. Now I'll never do it, still have the same numbers and you can fall back on your usual whining about my highly rated players

Its ok. I know you get defensive when you get caught. Like when you were over the player limit and got angry when levied with proper punishment. Its ok Jeff. Let the truth set you free.

Not saying you knew it did the things LJ brought up, but you knew it automatically moved your player that you're controlling into position all play. How is that any better than holding A in madden 11?

What are you talking about automatically moving him into position? You still have to cover your man. Holding Y does nothing for you if you aren't close to the guy. You don't hold Y and the player automatically follows his assigned guy

Remember how FMT was the worst manual defender in Madden 12 then in 13 he started going crazy and we all thought it was just his overrated linebackers?

Caught what? I didn't need to say anything. Had no idea it broke the game or I never would have used it. I won't be using it anymore and my D will perform the same

Perhaps I misunderstood LJ then, it affects all players except the on you're controlling?

So you thought you were just premptively pressing Y for ballhawking but kept manually controlling? That's a bit better then. A bit.

Yes, I manually control the lb. most of the time I will hold Y when the ball is coming but there are times where I will anticipate the ball coming out and hold it before its in the air.

LJ is saying by doing that it improves your other defensive guys you aren't controlling, which I did not knpw

Sure, it won't make the manually controlled player follow better, but it seems like LJ is saying it makes the AI defenders react better and get in better position.

Seems to be! Which is why I won't be doing that again. Like I said earlier, I had done it a few times against livewire and the only time I saw something strange was when Willis stood still while the te ran open on the drag but then again without knowing what to look for I have no idea on other effects

The best part about this is that in a great twist, the guys that can't really use this exploit are us honest and true DL players that need their right thumbs to get off of blocks. Ban non-DL play!

You are vindicated! DL is the only position that requires skill.
I wonder if holding A and then holding Y works.

lol

Wrong, LJ said you can hold Y anywhere and it improves your whole D. Ban dl play!

His point is you only have two thumbs, so you wouldn't be able to get off blocks.

But you'll be using it from now on, right?

Why do you need to get off blocks? The issue here isn't the manual picks, it's that the rest of your AI buddies get a boost.... Which would still happen at DL
