Official Madden Season 11 Thread: The school books say it can't be here again!

Malley and I attempted to play tonight, but we were unable to complete more than a few plays without disconnecting. I know for a fact that it's on my end, because I had this same problem the last time I tried to play someone on Sunday evening. I'm almost positive it's not my connection, so I'm led to believe it's my 360 (which is probably on its last legs).
My 360 has been acting up lately... I can't play multiplayer matches of Carcassonne anymore (everytime I try to it says that the connection has timed out) and whenever I look at people's gamercards it takes a long time to load up their information, like my 360 is running behind. In addition, sometimes when I go to open the disc tray it will just make a weird noise and not open up until I press the button 3 or 4 times.
Malley and I tried to play 3 different times and it d/c'd each time, the same thing happened when I tried to play Sunday. The d/c usually happens when I have the ball and it frequently occurs right when I press hike.
Long and rambling post, I know... I'm just hoping someone might know what's going on. And no, I wasn't going through a router when trying to play Madden.
-Eh, I think I'm going to sell my 360 (minus hard drive) to someone I know for $200 and then pick up the Core since it has HDMI output and I'll slide my HDD into that.

That's probably the best solution. It looks like it can only be your 360.
In great news, the Roster Update mentioned on the last page is now out. I just downloaded it. If you want to download it without playing a game, just create a private match, don't invite anyone, and then download them and quit.

Actually, my theory is this is the first time they've changed team rankings visibly to the player. So while teams have been getting upped and downgraded accordingly it's never been displayed to the player. So you were actually higher than a 67 when you won the Super Bowl, it just wasn't showing it. Which makes sense, because the Raiders are way fucking worse than they were a couple weeks ago.

Well, I was able to play a full game online, so I guess it was just the XBL maintenance messing up my games. I was also able to play a ranked match of Carcassonne, so now my only problem with my console is the disc tray thing, but I can live with that!
Your theory is wrong. ;b Turns out I got a bunch of downgrades, but I also got some upgrades. I have 2 more (useless) weapons even after the loss of Culpepper's rocket arm. And even though his rocket weapon got downgraded, Lolpepper did not suffer any stat downgrades. The weapons are useless since they won't be used by me (speed CBs that are rated in the 50s? LULZ), but they probably account for some of the OVR upgrade.LukeSmith said:
The OLine got upgraded even though Gallery got a downgrade. I have better receivers (though they are still lower than most).
I keep track of most of my players' main stats (the ones that are useful to that position) and turns out the offense ended up better even with the gimping of Jordan. Yes, I realize I'm a huge nerd. You don't have to point that out.

My #3 and #4 are 71, but last year they were 68 and 69, then later upgraded to 70 and 69 (though I had Taylor for a short while who was 79). My #1 and #2 are still also low rated, but Curry has improved 4 overall points since I started last season. Porter hasn't changed and he was my leading WR last year. My defense did get downgraded overall and got 0 upgrades, but hopefully, they will hold. I know some of you with great teams are laughing at these stats, but I'm excited at having a 71 OVR WR @ #3 and Fargas (my backup HB) back to 79 OVR. :lol

I can't believe I came back, because in the early going I had all the bad Madden vibes.
(my first INT, I lagged or something, pressed A. Nothing happened. Pressed A again. Ball snapped and I instantly threw directly at your guy. Awful, and resigned me to the idea I was going to lose).
Then I had 5 drops - a couple understandable, and a few just awful drive killers. That may be more than any one game I played with Cincy.
Add to the fact I was late to start scoring, and it makes it pretty shocking to me. But then good ol' Madden bailed me out with ridiculous fumbles. I was hammering on the strip ball button for the second half of the game, but even still, it was pretty crazy.
I'm surprised you didn't challenge any of your fumbles. I don't know that it would have made a difference, but regardless..
Also, I guess Romo is mobile, but jeez. I think you'll have fun with him this year.
EDIT: Also, sorry about the late pause. My controller was giving me the dancing lights of "your battery is dead"

1) Can someone remind me how to add players to my list? Leaguedaddy's prettyy unintuitive, but I don't want to go without like I did for a chunk of the season at Cincy (never added Henry for one, and a couple other guys who would sub in. . . sorry new Cincy owner! .... then again, St. Louis' first FB isn't on the list, because I'm sure most people like using Brian Leonard . . . so maybe that means it's every man for himself...). Right now I've got offensive linemen listed on both punt returns and my running stats, and I'd like to fix it.
2) Does anyone have any advice for how to deal with line shifts on user controlled players? Sometimes my guy will shift, sometimes he won't. Do I leave him where he is, or do I move him to where he should be if he doesn't shift? It hasn't come up a ton, because I usually don't shift all that much, but if I see more of the style I expect to see, it will come up more and more.

If player shows up, click on his check box, then click "reassign to selected team" and choose the team you want from the drop down menu.
Click "OK"
And you're done.
If he does not show up, create him with the "Add Players" section or "Import Players" box.
2) Try switching to another player real quick and then back. If he doesn't move, then he was probably not gonna move anyway. Sometimes only half the line moves or the nose tackle does not move when you do a line shift. It's pretty common. The thing I hate is when the player I'm using moves late and it looks like I'm moving him. When that happens, I just switch to another player because I don't want to get fingered. :lol

That's a great way to do it, but I only have check boxes for Rams players... I presume as a non-commish entity, I just don't have the privileges to do it. Seems like it would be the better way to do things, since the players are already in the database, but if the powers that be would rather me create these players just say the word.
(If a person with the privilege does want to do it, the two players currently in question are WR Brandon Williams -- currently assigned to San Fran, and TE Richard Owens -- currently assigned to Minnesota... and for some reason listed as a fullback by Madden).
I reassigned them, but are you sure you used the drop down menu from the top of the page or did you just click on fifty's link? Fifty's link is to your team. You can just click on any team on the left if you're searching by team.SickBoy said:

[edit] Yeah, it seems to work when you add with the box underneath. If there's no admin around, you can do it that way. Only problem would be that we'd start having a bunch of duplicates.
Ok so my 360 is dying. I can still play games but at random times it craps out unless I do that towel trick, then it seems to last a good 3-4 hours until I turn it off. The box to send it off in should be arriving any day now so at the most I should miss 1 or 2 games, might be able to get my next game done before I ship it off depending on when the box arrives. The repair center is here in Texas so the turn around isn't normally that long and they transferred me to a supervisor because this is my 3rd dead console and she told me she'd personally make sure there were none of the "normal delays" this time. She might just be blowing smoke up my ass, idk. Sucks that we have to deal with this every season so far :lol
