Official Madden Season 11 Thread: The school books say it can't be here again!

Yeah, my problem is that I don't really understand the passing game that well (not to say that it isn't at times legitimately unfair), and I make bad decisions the more I throw, especially deep. If I had the Ravens and Ky-Bol, I wouldn't throw nearly as much, and I'd probably be in a much better situation. I really regret the team I chose.

I'll switch with ya. You can then put in Orton and it will be just like Boller :D
I'm not serious about the switch, but I do think it'd be insanely fun to be the Colts

Yeah yeah, I thought it'd be fun too. I can't blame the team..some people can just pass well and make good decisions. I didn't even want to bring this up after yesterday's 'woe is me' fest, but since I read last page's QB discussion I had to chime in.

Denog says he's 'kicking himself for choosing the Ravens. If I wasn't 1-4 stupidly and he wasn't all the way up there at 2-1 I'd make a push to abuse my powers and try to switch teams.

Ultimately I think most players don't change their style of play in Madden. DM's playing the Cardinals like the Bucs, Shawn's playing the Panthers like they're the Cowboys. They can improve or get worse at decision making (me with the latter) but most people I've played play the same conservative or aggressive styles game in and game out.

My game has always been running a lot and throwing only when I need to. Manning, Clark, Wayne and Harrison do more harm than good, tempting me into making impossible passes. I should have picked the team I knew the best and fit my style best (Ravens) instead of simply the highest rated team. Foolish and greedy, and now I'm paying the consequences.

The term for that is "Livewiring it" :p

I'm kind of running the ball like I did with Seattle, as Lewis shouldn't run outside, just like SA. Passing, is nothing like it. Seattle, I had to do alot of rollout PA's, quick passes, quick hooks. Cleveland, lots of different TE movement, throwing it deep on post, go routes.

I actually need to throw in more passes I did in Seattle, because I might be too dependant to "want to throw it deep" as FMT mentioned (Overdependence on Edwards/Winslow)

Defense, I pretty much playcall and play the same as Seattle, just geared a little more to 3-4. I do miss having better safeties, and 2 great LB's.

Wow. You didn't even mention Josh Brown :(

Cause I think I did last night. Man, I miss the JB. ALOT. Dawson's got the "accurate kicker" weapon...does that do anything? Because JB just has the power, and my hands controlling the kick is all the accuracy I need. Dawson can't hit the KO out the back of the endzones, barring perfect situations. 50-52 is about the longest I foresee hitting from (my 50 yarder this year barely made it over the crossbar)

I agree most don't. I choose a team solely cause I wanted to change my playstyle. Now the problem I'm facing is I changed too much. Instead of doing a 180 I did a complete 360. I went from DMball to Shawn-esque. I have always been a running guy and it sucks not having it now. Probably a big part of my record being the way it is. That and all of a sudden I can't seem to play defense, which I had thought was my other strong suit. As someone who changed from the style you mentioned maybe I can help? Dunno if you are on aim ever, but if so maybe we can talk strategy on aim later on or something.

:lol I'm so gonna start Josh McCown and Michael Bush against Livewire. I don't know how you can still be bitching with the fucking PATS!

They both chose teams that fit that style, though.

I've seen some players that have completely changed style for their new teams and I've had to switch over the years even with the same team. I miss Rich Gannon from the 2k days. :[

My style is gonna change with my new QB and RBs, too!

Hey guys..the patch is out.

I just downloaded something at startup, so I checked pastapadre and

http://www.pastapadre.com/1954/madden-patch-2-released#more-1954

The second and more significant patch for Madden 08 has been pushed live by Microsoft. Those with the 360 version will be prompted to download the patch as the game loads up.

As previously reported the patch addresses the following issues:

Fumble Fix - Reduced fumble chances in certain situations. This has been tested thoroughly and we feel that people will be happy with a more realistic (and more fun!) number of fumbles. This was priority number 1 for us.

DB Reactions- changes to the way that DBs play man coverage. Defenders in man coverage won’t be able to react to passes that they cannot see. This should make it easier to throw against man coverage.

Even if it works, it's too little too late for me. Throwing against man was my #1 weakness.

It'll be interesting to see how much or how little has changed.

NOW the Pats will be a 99-rated team. Yay! :D

Rors and True and Ando (if you're out there lurking) I will be free to play our game(s) tonight before and after the Packers-Girls game.

JOSH MCCOWN FUTURES BEGINS!!!!!!!!!!!!

If anyone wants to try this out later, I'm game. I'll be home in about an hour or so.

[edit] Livewire: let's play our game. My loss against you will be the last loss!

I can run with Benson now? yay. And the other change should help my passing game.

Just was looking at some stats, glad Steve smith wasn't just slippery and hard to tackle for me.

LeBron loves his girlfriend. There is no other woman in the world he’d rather have. The problem is, Dwyane’s not a woman.

Lets see if I can get my passing game back, thats all I ever had :( This game took it away from me.

I guess I should just quit and not care what people think about it. This isn't a job, it's a game..and I've given up. I started off trying but after one BS fumble (Parker was truly down on the ground when he fumbled, but I think because someone was injured on the play, I wasn't able to challenge it..that's the only explanation I have) I just lost the will to compete. Ok, well I tried for one more possession after that..but yeah, not cool. Might as well replace me with someone who wants it, like Luke's friend from 1up.

The exact same thing happened to me against FMT. Gore fumbles, but one of my players got injured on the play so it called a TO for me. I went to challenge the fumble and the option was greyed out. :-(

Tough game, Fiddy. The Madden Gods were truly against you. Both of us had situations where our wide open receivers didn't even try to catch the ball, and I agree that the fumble most likely would've been overturned. After that fumble, Willie couldn't get anything going and my defensive line got crazy pressure on Big Ben, even when only rushing three. Once my defensive backs started catching the balls they had dropped through most of the first half, it got a little bit ugly. I was just trying to run the clock out with Travis Henry and he was getting 5+ yds a carry until the last drive. It's like the Steelers AI D just stopped trying.

Truelize...are you around to get our game in sometime today???

And seriously, FMT, why am I #13 in the power rankings when the league page has me #1? Especially when Rors, who I beat earlier in the year and is 2-3, is #6.

:lol @ the new passing game...they gimped the d a little too much. This is gonna be fun. :lol

I was worried about that. I got the feeling that half of the time, the only reason every drive didn't end in a TD was because of spidey senses and/or insta-fumbles.

How bad is it? Have you tried all-madden?

I tried against Asante Samuel and he kept getting burned by my fourth stringer. I'll try all-madden next.

Oh great, now EA went crazy in the other direction now! :lol

I guess the league is about to become massive shootouts. Even more than normal, and there have been some crazy games so far!

All-Madden is slightly better. About what it was when we played All-Madden leagues. You can still throw, but it's not that easy.

GG Livewire. Sorry about the pauses, but I had like 5 guys get injured and it doesn't automatically take them out. Jordan was out for 2 weeks. :lol

Uhm...yeah, we should change it to all-madden. Even ill advised throws by third rate QBs don't get picked off. There still aren't spider-sense dbs in all-madden, but it's not a gimme every time you drop back to pass.

35-14 over the Patriots?

Wow. Still the champ.

gg. I don't think the passing was bad at all on All-Pro, I think it was just right. I was able to thread the needle a few times to Watson and Brady, but by no means was it easy to throw anything up and watch people catch it. My only problem was having to play from behind since your box shut down on our first game when I was up a TD. I basically storm down the field again to start the game but get a BS 2nd and inches (I should've challenged) and then get stopped 3 times....eh, whatever...at least there are no silly fumbles or INTs.

Good job EA! Only took......4 months! :D
