So as promised the result of flipping that physical switch on the 5090 card from "silent" to "gaming"

T Three - TimeSpy - 34,645

GPU clock seems to go from 2,017MHz to 2,932MHz
nets a 721 point increase in GPU points. I'm not sure how that translates to realworld gains in games but the MHz bump doesn't seem worth it for 3DMark. Does bump me up in the league though. GPU score seems high now relative to other 5090s, might start messing with other mem/CPU settings now. What have you done to me Gaiff Gaiff ?

Updated again, let me know if I've missed anyone.

U Unknown Soldier dont be afraid to get involved, if you already have 3dmark then then throw yourself in the mix.

I don't know why I did this. I've had 3DMark for many years but I don't run it a lot these days because my machine is positively ancient

I'm overdue for an overhaul but maybe Jensen should get off his ass and make some more 5090's because I ain't doing shit to start my rebuild until I have one in my hands

That's quite strange. Your clocks are much higher, but the performance increase isn't too large. If it isn't a big bump in 3D Mark, then it'll likely be lower for games.

I don't know what the games should be running at, but real-world game performance is all that matters. You do have all your ROPs right?
Yeah all my ROPs are here and yeah I’m not gonna worry too much about a benchmark. I’m just happy that my score improved from that low result. I thought my card was faulty lol.

Might actually see if I can push my Pc higher. Maybe do a light OC on the GPU and turn on PBO with the CPU. I won’t be running at that all the time. Possibly keep PBO on.

EDIT: turned on PBO

holy shit. it's using 250W, going to ~82C, and hitting 5.9GHz. daaaamn :messenger_fire:

EDIT 2: i hit 35684 but now i'm getting less than 35K when overclocking and PBO on. When running time spy my GPU usage is dropping to ~80% and only using 450-520W. I don't get it. Maybe Time Spy is just too dated now. I think Time Spy 4K or Steel Nomad is better these days.

I had no idea this was so unbalanced for the Intel side.
The AMD X3D chips don't perform well in 3DMark compared to the Intel chips even though they destroy the Intel chips in actual games

3DMark is a synthetic benchmark and doesn't behave like games do. This has been true since around 1999 when it was originally invented

GHG GHG I would suggest to separate the ranks in 2 column, one for AMD another for Intel systems.

question for those middle to bottom users on the leaderboard, how are your systems holding up with the games you play currently?
the lowest score (besides Adamsapple's joke score) is 13,000 something.

That's better than my system which is capable of playing most modern releases at 1080/1440 medium-low

Hey, thought you were sporting a 4090?
Yeah the 4090 just died several months ago and even though I had it for about 18 months since Best Buy didn't carry that one anymore they gave me a full refund which I used to buy a 5090 prebuilt but that 5090 had lines running through my display

When I returned the 5090 prebuilt they had this 5080 9800X3D as an open box buy which I grabbed.

I really want another 5090 system but this 5080 was literally half the price of a 5090 not to mention stock issues atm with 5090s
What happened to the 5090? Genuinely curious.

Peasant 😂😂😂😂 joking hope you find one soon enough

question for those middle to bottom users on the leaderboard, how are your systems holding up with the games you play currently?
Depends on the native resolution of your monitor/TV, I would say.

With my setup I can still play everything maxed out @4k Dlss with 60 - 120 frames.

The only game where I had to activate FG to get over 60 fps + Hardware RT so far was Wukong.

I think my 4060 Ti 16GB was the lowest on the rankings, excluding Adamsapple's joke post. I usually play 1440p DLSS Balanced or Performance with mostly medium and a couple high settings. x16 AF, High textures, motion blur+depth of field+vignetting+chromatic aberration turned off. Then if I wanted the extra smoothness I'd use FG.

Here's Monster Hunter Wilds with High preset that defaults to DLSS Balanced, FG off. If I played this I'd probably use DLSS Perf and slightly lower settings to get the avg up into the 80s with better lows, then let G-sync handle any egregious drops.

36214 is my result

not sure if its the highest or anything

9800x3d
5090 Astral (didn't do any manual OC or anything. )

edit: just looked at the score board -_- wtf how come you guys have better score ? manual OC ?

eh. what is the max boost clock for 5090 OC ( preferablly Astral ) in general without manual OC ?

i think i saw my card reaching 2930 ? but no ideal. I really don't do these kind of things. I usually just even undervolt the card mem tweaking just because i want the card at the lowest temp / noise possible.

I can probably bump it up to 25k when I get round to undervolting this thing.

Would be fun to have seperate charts for AM4 and AM5. Although it'll probably make me want to upgrade :messenger_grinning_sweat:
