So Landry's injury might be more serious than I thought. How about getting Taylor Mays as a possible replacement at SS? Im sure we could trade a late round draft pick for the guy. What say you 49ers faithful?

i wish we wouldn't give up on taylor mays. i just feel like some of his issues can be fixed with proper coaching. it's not everyday that a guy comes around with the measurables he has.

i doubt the niners would ship him off for a late round draft pick (6th or 7th), but i don't know. with the signing of williams and whitner we kind of have a crowded safety list so he is expendable but i think a team would have to make it worth our while.

i was hoping we gave him a shot at SS this year but that dream is dead with the signing of whitner. no reason to mike brown this situation and not get something out of it!

Raider Nation wanted Chad Johnson or Vincent Jackson. Al gives us Chad Jackson, best of both worlds baby!
I haven't checked, but I'm pretty sure he has less than 10 catches in his entire NFL career.

i remember i wanted him in the 2nd round in 2006....
He was a monster at FL. He, like many of the WRs out of Gainsville, just could not adapt to the pros. Harvin seems like their only recent success story.

i remember seeing his pro day (or maybe it was the combine) where they just have those ball machines shooting balls at the receivers at high velocity and he caught them all. when he caught them the ball wouldn't move at ALL. it hit his hands and then he just snared it. i thought with those kind of hands he would definitely amount to a good wr in the nfl..... guess you can't really measure desire!

maybe this pay reduction for rookies will give them something more to strive for. i doubht it though.... even a million dollars is enough for some of these guys to pack it in and never perform.

And to be fair, Chad's new teammate, Luis Murphy, also went to FL and he could actually have an impact on their offense this year.
I was gonna come here and mention Louis Murphy as a productive FL receiver. He's underrated.

Edit: and more productive than bey

Darren Sproles is definitely an upgrade from Reggie Bush. He even stays upright when somebody hits him.
Dude may be little, but they don't call him Tank for nothing. He's one guy that's definitely missed in SD.

yeah, and i heard he is lookin' good in training camp too. infact, i heard every player that the saints acquired has looked awesome in training camp and they are all improvements over any players they lost. can you say supabowl cup!?

Donte Whitner interview:

Q: How does it feel to be here?
WHITNER: It feels excellent. I know that these facilities here are a 100 percent upgrade from where I come from. That’s no slight against them (Buffalo), but it feels like I’m just entering the NFL. These are wonderful facilities, wonderful field, wonderful organization. I’m just glad to be here and I’m glad to help.

if coming to the niners is a 100% upgrade as far as facilities and organization go over buffalo.... then i am truly sorry bills fans :(

Why did the chargers release him again? Ryan Mathews doesn't look like he's panning out very well.

You have some sort of complex. I'm not entirely sure what kind.

Just couldn't afford him with all the free agents we had and the team needs.

Besides coming to camp with his legs unprepared, Mathews looks like he's whipped himself into shape and has been doing well the past couple of days. He showed flashes of what he could do at the end of last year after he got over the high ankle sprain that he got in the second game of the season, so the team has high hopes for him if he can stay healthy.

So is this the best hall of fame class yet? One of the best rb-hybrid wr in Faulk, the best corner ever in Sanders, Ed Sabol. Richard Dent, the foundation of one of the best defenses of all time(the best imo) and the original Dick Butkus in Hanburger(going off of what Rich Eisen tells me, obviously I never saw him play).

Is there a better year for the HOF?
