Bucs managed to get past some terrible pass interference calls (the one on Kelly and then the later non-call on Galloway), and pulled one out. Caddy is going to drive his way to MVP as the Bucs take another Super Bowl!

Well, I'm not about to read through every comment, but the Steelers absolutely got their asses handed to them. That was a miserably played game. Defense was pathetic, offense couldn't get a damned thing done, play calling was laughable, and special teams....fucking special teams.

Special teams are the reason the Steelers lost to the Patriots in the AFC title game the first time. And here we are again, four years later, still with shitty special teams coverage against this team.

Oy.

I'll be back in football mood come thursday or so.

Oh, fuck you guys. I've got to let this stink set in for another week, the Steelers have a bye in week 4.

Damn, the Patriots beat the shit out of the Steelers.

Yeah but, did you see Eli? Where's your weekly trash talking?

Losing by a last second field goal is not what I call getting beat the shit out. Both teams were pretty sloppy in the game and you can't call our defense pathetic. They were on the field for almost the entire damn game, if you didn't see that 4th quarter collapse coming you weren't watching the same game I was. Did you forget the three turnovers the defense came up with in the red zone, they did about as much as they could have but our O line was just asleep. It was extremely predictable that our pass rush would fail in the last quarter when our offense wasn't staying on the field, you could just see them getting more tired as the game went on.

I thought the offensive line and special teams were what let us down. Our offensive line didn't do a damn thing that game other then opening up 2 holes for the only 2 good runs Parker had for the entire day. They didn't give Ben any kind of protection and he had to do that game tying drive by himself (getting sacked 2-3 times on it). They were just worthless. And I will agree with you that the special teams was worthless too. Our only chance to stop the Pats with our defense being so tired was to make them go the entire length of the field and of course we fuck up and let them get the ball near the 45 yard line.

Still, I don't imagine our O line will get manhandled if we meet them again (hopefully in FoxBoro, where I know our team will play better) and our special teams won't make those same fuckups either. Then again I imagine the Pats will play better too, but we were in this game the entire way. You can play with the Pats if you don't turn the ball over and Ben deserves credit for that game even though we came up a little short. He was under a crazy pass rush all day and didn't throw the killer INT and gave us a shot at the end of the game.

The defense looks horrible for the entire game, they just got lucky with that fumble and made a good play with the interception. It could have easily been a blowout. Take away the huge play to Hines and one of those turnovers, it's just as bad as the championship game last year.

Ben did look damned good at times(do they keep track of broken tackles for QBs? It had to be in double digits) getting away from the rush of death, but he didn't make any throws between the second drive and the last drive. So unless they decide to have the stadium officials put less than two minutes on the scoreboard the entire game next time they play, I'm not as optimistic as you are.

One player I forgot to put the blame on was Randle El. That pitch was just fucking stupid, and he made drops on two of the ten catchable balls that Roethlisberger threw all day. That can't happen.

That was a stupid play by El, but I would rather we lose in September than January. El wasn't the same player in the game after that either, which hurt us too. I hope he gets over that in the bye.

Hey, a turnover is a turnover so the defense gets credit for that. And they put major pressure on Brady for the 2nd and 3rd quarters and pretty much shut down Dillon too. The only difference is that the Pat O line gave Brady plenty of time in the 4th quarter when they raped our defense.

I thought Ben played a great game considering he didn't have an O line out there. He missed about 2 or 3 easy throws in the 3rd quarter which was bad, but other than that I can't fault him considering the pass rush he was facing. I mean I expect that shit from the Cardinals but the offensive line is supposed to be the best part of our team and they couldn't protect Ben at all or even open a single running lane, it was a pathetic day for them.

Mcnabb may have a sports hernia? NOOOOOOOOO!!!!!! As if I needed more reason to hate you.

"Season Ending

The Buffalo Bills this morning announced that Takeo Spikes suffered a torn Achilles tendon in his right leg in the second quarter of yesterday’s game with Atlanta and will miss the remainder of the 2005 season. To anyone in the EA Fantasy league, should we weight rushing a bit more? I mean Shawn Alexander had a career day and only 33 points????

With that said, I am hoping to go 3-0 tonight in Fantasy-land.

Also...any Animated /gifs of Chad Johnson and TO dances?

6 points per rushing TD and 10 rush yards/point is pretty standard. I think it's fine. And Alexander had 38 points, which is a fourth of your entire score.

Settings are fine, IMO. LT got me a nice 44 yesterday :)

I'm going to drop the Bills D and pick up a second so I was looking through the available D's and checking their schedules. Look at the Chargers upcoming games :lol

Sun 10/2 at New England 1:00 pm
Mon 10/10 Pittsburgh 9:00 pm
Sun 10/16 at Oakland 4:15 pm
Sun 10/23 at Philadelphia 1:00 pm
Sun 10/30 Kansas City 4:05 pm

Holy crap that's a tough stretch. Their next game was @ the jets too which coming into the season would have made it look even worse. They also finish the season @Indy, @KC.. then a Denver home game.

Yeah if the Chargers make the playoffs I will officially worship at their temples, it's a sick schedule.

I dunno, I'd hold on to the Bills' D for at least one more week. They're playing the Saints next week. Not going to be much offense

Man. Eight right so far, and my Falcons stuck my nose it in it this week. I promise I won't pick against you again until you're playing someone demonstrably better than you, boys. Promise.

Infidel! You deserve to get your nose stuck in it. Never pick against the Falcons. I don't care who the team is we are playing. Like Vick said, we can beat anybody.

haha, yah. i saw the segment on ESPN yesterday with the checklist of who was covering him: yes/no that someone had mentioned earlier in the week. Pretty funny. I'd say he just added a 3rd no :)

Absolutely. I mean, Chad Johnson really is a cocky SOB. I presume everyone's familiar with the checklist?

Yet at the same time, I don't know if it's in his delivery or his style, or what, but it comes off as cocky and funny rather than cocky and assholey.

I guess what I'm saying is I'm sure Chad Johnson has the cubsfan seal of approval.

EDIT: Quotes from the Cincy Post:

Johnson caught just three passes against the Bears on Sunday at Soldier Field but they produced 77 yards and a pair of touchdowns in the Bengals' 24-7 win. Chances are the box next to Azumah's name will be marked 'no' even though he wasn't the party responsible for Johnson's scores.

Johnson beat coverage by Chicago cornerback Charles Tillman and safety Mike Brown to haul in an 18-yard pass from quarterback Carson Palmer in the first quarter, and then beat cornerback Nathan Vasher in the fourth quarter for a 40-yard score. Johnson danced an Irish jig, a la River Dance, after his first score. He did three pushups and showed off a flexed right biceps after the second.

"It's part of what I call entertainment," said Johnson, who has 19 catches for 307 yards and three touchdowns this season. "I had an OK day today but I respect their defense the utmost. ... I have a new respect for Mr. Vasher, who I didn't know at the beginning. I've never played against him before but he's very good. If you can play on a defense where they leave you on an island by yourself I've got a lot of respect for you.:

I can't wait until Chad Johnson meets Rashean Mathis in a couple weeks for the Jags. Boy has been on FIRE this year so far, 2 picks yesterday:)

There was a soundbite from Fred Smoot about this. Paraphrased: "Chad caught 1 ball for 7 yards off me, so maybe I should just keep my own list. Chad Johnson.....NO! I'll keep you guys updated through the season."

:D

For the record, Antoine Winfield was covering CJ when he went deep for a TD, and it was actually the fault of Cory Chaveous who bit on the underneath route.

Rodney Harrison tore his ACL. Out for the year.

Weird, I thought he broke his leg for sure when I saw that play live. ACLs usually don't look bad when they happen.

I have to say these guys must all have an insane pain tolerance level. I remember when I tore my ACL I was just writhing in the ground for a minute or two before I got it under control. That shit hurts like a mother.

:lol did you just see the segment on sportscenter? Turns out the timekeepers "accidentally" added an extra minute to the clock at the beginning of the 4th quarter in the Pats/Steelers game.

Oh that is just MESSED UP. I wonder if they can declare a game a tie instead because of that:P

I think no one would complain if they just disbanded the Patriots for this unprecedented level or cheating and sent Tom Brady to Siberia.

Well at least it's you bionic and not Duce... if this was an Eagles game and they lost we'd get a f'n 20 paragraph rant about the shit.

And we'd here about it for the next 20 years, or until whenever GAF goes offline, whichever comes first.

Don't forget that he would stay in denial over it for the next five years.

I will forget about this shit after a few weeks (but I will never forgive that cheater Brady).

This is the best TD celebration ive seen.

I hate when memorable stuff happens against your team. The gif of the damn playoff dunk on the Bears goalpost by Mcnabb in 2001 haunted me for a good year. :(

What in the fuck is wrong with the ESPN staff(Not including the Sunday Countdown team). Basically the Around the horn guys, Jim Rome, The NFL live squad, and the Sports Center anchors.

Week 1:

Panthers are overrated, Patriots are the greatest team ever, Vikings are busts!! Jets are the worst team ever, Cincy got lucky...

Week 2:

Panthers are for real, everything has caught up with the patriots, Vkings are the worst team in the NFL and Culpepper is shit without Moss, Jets are back!!! Contender for the AFC crown. Cincy Isn't good they just played against the worst team in the leauge, and a QB who isn't shit without moss.

Week 3:

Just getting the Patriots are the greatest team ever, Brady despite throwing 2picks is the greateset QB, Despite being 0-3 and having worst numbers than Trent Dilfer Favre is still such a warrior and its everyone's fault in GB's except his. Panthers actually are overrated upon review, so are the Jets who we were just getting about as well..The Vikings are the shit, Culpepper is the truth, and they're division champs. Ohh and Cincy..Best team in the NFl..Superbowl contenders.

Its like every fucking week is the 1st and the last week of the season for these guys.

ESPN has a large and diverse collection of morons, why are you so surprised? I mean they employ Skip Fucking Bayless, nothing should surprise you after hearing that someone would be dumb enough to pay that jackass for his opinion.

They shouldn't allow anyone to say anything about Football except the Kournheiser, Wilbon, Steve Young, Michael Irvin, Boomer, T.J., and Jaws.

I'm just glad for Marvin Lewis. I hope he does real good this year.

Micheal Irvin? No, that bastard rapes the english language every skit. And he needs to stop screaming. Fuckin Steven A Smith school of journalism.

lol who just saw mike ditka lose it on air cause micheal irvin suggested that favre has gone over the hill? ditka kept taking cheap shots at micheal irvin then lol......gotta give it to irvin...he kept his cool.

Fuck....Really what did Ditka say about him.. I used to hate Irvin with a passion back in the day(Niners fan) but hes one of the best personalities on the channel. Ditka belongs on CBS wiith the rest of the old boring goofs.

The clock thing in the Steeler game is fucked up, I don't see how that could happen. But in the grand scheme of things it doesn't really matter. The clock didn't pitch the ball to an unaware Hines. The clock didn't drop two or three other easy catches that would have kept drives alive. The clock didn't get called for a false fucking start on a god damn FG that was good. The clock also didn't then decide to try a 52 yarder when there has never been a 50+ FG made in the short history of your stadium. The clock didn't let defenisive guys through to your QB like he was handing out free candy. The clock didn't let Brady pick the secondary apart. The clock also didn't leave a timeout on the board at the end of the game for no good fucking reason.

I love listening to Irvin. Whether on ESPN or whenever he comes on the Dan Patrick show, he's always hilarious and insightful.

Seriously. I touched on this on page 1, before this week's games.

THOUGHTS. I hate the media. All these incredibly dumb predictions and they never back anything up week to week. They live in the moment, flip flop every damn second, and do it with complete disregard. ESPN and the like anyway. The radio is so much better in this respect. They make a note to repeat dumb quotes and when they're shocked, they tell us. I can't take ESPN. Been getting under my skin more than ever as of late. To start off, Carolina. Did we hear a massive wave of "Super Bowl?" week 1? Yes. Then they lose to the Saints. EVERYONE jumps off mentioning we maybe spoke to soon. If you didn't, the analysts act like you missed the memo. But of course they're the ones who can't find a damn balance. They're blotched Monday Night Football predictions as proof. 0 for 2 across the board. On the season, 1 right pick amongst all of em. 1.

They're fuckin insane, and I decided I wouldn't listen to them for 2 weeks until after the next Bears game. They're the biggest flip floppin' pieces of shit around. And though I haven't been listening, I knew that the Vikings would be NFC North favorites after this win. By some of the same people who said they were the worst in the league. 1 espn analyst said last week they'd be the North champs. The rest are fresh off this week after calling the Bears last week. More so than for simply how they report the Bears, but just for being all around douchebags,

sincerely,
Fuck you ESPN

I love how everyone is making all these excuses for Brett Favre. They're all like "the effects of Hurricane Katrina is really taking their toll on Brett Favre, and we're seeing that in his play".. The only thing Brett "lost" in Katrina was his childhood home which was extremely damaged. No one died, no one was hurt, no one is unaccounted for. Come on, His DAD DIES!!!, His WIFE GETS CANCER!! and he plays great. But when his Mom's old house gets damages, an extemelly wealthy NFL player can't play the game..

Hes old, and he cant distinguish the other team's jersey from that of his own team..
