The Rams are always going to throw interceptions and give up turnovers because that offense is as weak in the red zone as it is awesome outside it. It just doesn't work in the red zone, no matter what QB you've had they all threw INTs in the red zone.

And is it me or does Rattay have no leadership qualities?

its weak in the red zone because we cant run the ball. reason there is the interior of the o-line. but that wasnt really the problem. just stupid turnovers this week, just like last week. even with that high school defense we fielded today, we could have outscored the giants had we not carelessly fumbled in giants territory twice. this team NEVER used to fumble the ball this much back in the 99-01 seasons.

is there any doubt that reverse on the nyg 6 yard line would have been a TD in 1999 or 2001? the execution just isnt there any more.....

Oh my. I beat someone in a fantasy league of mine 165-70. I had only 212 pts through the first 3 weeks. :lol

i dont know why i get so depressed anymore, its the same old shit since 2002. defense plays a few decent games, and then totally fucking implodes. and bulger throws 61 times for 460+ yards and we only manage 24 points, because we turned the ball over 5 times.

as much as people like to blame martz(and alot of it is his fault), these guys just dont execute when it counts. martz didnt fumble twice and throw 3 picks, or let plaxico burress burn him time after time after time......DC larry marmie needs to be fired immediately, and we need to shake up the secondary.

ughhhhhhh
I liked how during the game, the Fox announcers were like "Yeah, but they don't care about turnovers because their offense is so good. I mean look, when they give up turnovers like crazy, they only lose 60% of the time! Now that's incredible, and that's why Mike Martz doesn't care his team gives up the ball."

I don't know if I've ever heard a sports announcer make less sense...err, at least not any sober ones, anyway.

yeah i find most announcers suck, they just repeat the same old shit from years back. that hasnt been true of this offense since 2001, even then it cost us (sb36)

...such pure luck that I won this week, haha.

Ah, I was talking about my main fantasy league. Luckily I have Burress and LT there :)

In our league, what really did me in was Vick getting hurt.

FUCK FUCK FUCK FUCK!

What a shitty ass game, the Jags played awful and the refs were equally awful. What a horrid performance. I got sunburnt, rained on 5 separate times for this shit. FUCK.

Other than the 'personal foul' late in the game there didn't seem to be much to pin on the refs. They're going to keep calling penalties when we keep committing them. OL was horrible as always, and everyone seemed to want to get in on the penalties.

Did you notice we had more penalties than rushing yards in the game? Not more penalty yards than rushing yards, more penalties than rushing yards. Other than the TD drive I don't think there was a single set of downs where we didn't end up with >10 yards to go at some point.

12/13 so far in tipping for a clear lead in the GAF Experts competition. Fuck you Jacksonville, the Benglas shall get my revenge on you next week.

Denver's best day stopping the run in the last 40 years actually, thats predates the Orange Crush. I also liked how our #1 (Bailey) and #2 (Darrent Williams) corners didn't play but we still kept Leftwich in check most of the game.

Now I'm just looking forward to watching the Broncs punchatize Portis' face.

Green Bay at Carolina. What a shitty MNF game.

Looking ahead to next week, the Chargers are going to be a tough game for the Steelers (or anyone). Speaking of which, how on earth did the Chargers lose to the Jets in the playoffs last year? On paper it seems like San Diego should have won that game easily.

Atlanta is going to have problems with the Patriots if they continue to be one dimensional on offense, but hopefully the Good Lord will give them the strength to beat those evil bastards.

Vick was actually having a decent game passing before he went out. Plus, when you are having that much success running the ball why even bother passing? (see 2004 divisonal playoff game) :D

I know we won't run over the Pats D like we did the Vikings, but all the times I've seen the Pats play this season, they have seemed susceptible(sp?) to the run.

Don't worry bionic it will be tee off on Brady time down in the dome next Sunday. :D

Yesterday's antics were perfect in demonstrating the fact that the divisional playoff system is a crock that throws away collective league parity in favor of mindless entertainment and cashed-in rivalries. It's like this for every sport.

Remember the Pats are going to be desperate to win this game. Atlanta just has to make sure not to lose this game in the first quarter. Looks like Seymour has come back to Earth too. I knew he wasn't going to be able to play at that level every single game of the season. So hopefully he doesn't rape your O-line the way he did in Pittsburgh, of course if you run early that will neutralize that asshole.

If the Pats stop the run early though they are going to bring pressure and get to Vick. I just hope Atlanta realizes that the hopes of the free world are riding on their shoulders to take out those New England bastards so they can match New England's intensity early.

With that said, I have no idea what is going to happen in this game but I pray for some more New England humiliation. Just remember when the rest of the league is feasting on the Pats, it was the Steelers that set you all up for success. :D

Ugh... I can't believe they're going to peg the detroit loss on Harrington. It's such short-sighted thinking backed up by horrible receiver play and even worse playcalling...

edit: the media is really grilling mariucci on this shit right now. thank God. Such obvious shit! "Harrington is obviously at his best when he's on the rush, trying to go no huddle or quick huddle... have you considered letting him go no huddle before the end of the game?"

fuck. it sucks so much being a detroit fan.

Don't underestimate our D at home. Believe me, we Falcons fans know how important this game is in furthering the deconstruction of the Pats. I predict the crowd at dome getting pretty rowdy. Probably close to the level of the Monday night game against the Eagles.

I know the Falcons D will come up with some plays. My concern is the Falcons offense, they need to find a way to stay on the field even if they are not scoring. In my opinion that is what really killed the Steelesr against the Pats (other than Richard Seymour raping our O-line) was they were getting our offense off the field really quickly and eventually at the end of the game our defense was too tired to do shit.

I'm going to be a huge Falcons fan this coming weekend.

I'm doing a pretty crappy job of picking games this year. I'm tied for second in a 30-person pool, two picks behind first, but I've run away with this thing the past three years.

I guess I'm gonna be one of the few that's rooting for the Pats, heh. Don't need the Falcons to gain even more ground in the divison :(

Mariucci is the biggest conman in sports. But don't get it twisted. Harrington has sucked like a motherfucker much more often than not.

That's like rooting for a gang of bikers to break into your house, smash everything you own, kill your pets, and anally rape your mother while you watch. I know it will benefit your team to see the Falcons lose, but it's not worth it.

no doubt about it he's sucked. and he has no reason not to right now, as mariucci has already made it obvious that garcia would be the QB if he could put him in. like it or not, they still have to win games though, and he's not gonna do it unless 1) They let him throw the ball more than 8 times a half, 2) The coaches come down on the players for not trying instead of piling it all on Harrington, 3) He has the confidence and assurance to know that like it or not, he's not gonna be yanked and he's the QB so that he doens't have to worry about playing ever again after every dropped pass or short throw.

Most of the losses last year I'd put on Harrington, but I don't put any of the ones this year on him.. not even the Chicago one. I put it on coaching, for not preparing him and not setting his mind at ease. So of course, once he throws one pick, he's gonna be fucked up the rest of the game. Who could put their mind at ease and forget it if they think that everytime they throw a pick its gonna mean they're out of the league?

We probably should save this dicussion for the Week 5 thread, but I can see your point. If there is an area of concern it's our OLine against their DLine. The past two weeks our protection has looked good, but the Pats are going to be a different animal than those defenses especially after being embarrased at home. Luckily we've got the best QB in the league at improvising when protection schemes breakdown.

FMT's boy Greg Knapp will have to be on his game with the play calling this week.

Not doing as well this week in the pick ems. I've got 8 right so far, and I haven't picked a Carolina game correctly this year (please don't lose to the Packers)

Yeah I'm not doing all that great. It looks like I will go 10-4 this week. I did do good with my confidence point distribution in the one pick 'em league however.

EDIT: 10-4 is really not bad, but I dropped a couple of slots in the Experts league. :(

I can't completely agree with that. To me it seemed the Lions neutered themselves JUST to pacify Joey. He's had something like 38 straight starts. McMahon, the only games he saw were Miami, Dallas, Tampa and Carolina (real pushover D's). They also refused to bring in even decent backups so as to assure him no matter how bad he played they'd have no other option.

Fukk I don't even know what I'm trying to say. I just want ALL of these jokers gone. Millen has proven beyond a shadow of a doubt he can't build an NFL team. He had a shot at John Fox when he HAD to have Marty. He refused to even look at Marvin Lewis(or any legitamite minority candidate) to get the eunuch we have now. Our coaches have no balls. And the team hates the QB's guts.

At least State makes it interesting when they lose.

Come be a Jaguars fan for a week - it'll make you feel a lot better about being a Detroit fan. Right now they're calling for the heads of Byron Leftwich, Jack Del Rio, Reggie Williams and half the offensive line, and there are some people seriously suggesting that we should put Matt Jones in at QB.

You guys have a legitamate shot at a playoff spot.

Though technically the Lions do to. I'm hoping the NFC North can be won at 5-11 while some 10 win team sits at home. That'd be funny to me.

MAN WTF!!!!

http://mb27.scout.com/flionsfansfrm1.showMessage?topicID=61047.topic

We can't catch a goddamn break anywhere can we??!!!

I think this is more of a blessing in disguise. Now Mike Williams can get a stranglehold on the #2 position. Rogers has been a colossal bust.

He's been fucking hury. That's like like calling Kris Jenkins a bust.

This is fuckking dissapointing and there is FUCKING notheing good aobout this.WTF. Lions fans haven't suffered enough?

At least hope got extinguished early this year.

Difference is Jenkins wasn't the 2nd overall pick in the draft. Also, here's something I found interesting:

The Lions' receivers are close to an open revolt against Joey Harrington. But any sincere assignment of blame begins with the reflection in the mirror. Charles Rogers is dogging it but seems more interested in placing the leash elsewhere. "My (practice) reps are getting shorter. I don't know what they're trying to say. Nobody has told me my role. Nobody has explained to me what they expect from me this season," Rogers said. "So I'm just feeling my way through this myself."
-- Detroit Free Press

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/scorecard/10/03/truth.rumors.nfl/index.html

Yeah. This actually is a blessing in disguise. Rogers' bitching among the receivers has been evident in the lower morale of every receiver, with the exception being maybe Mike Williams who is giving his all on every play. Plus, you gotta get caught 3 times before you're suspended... so maybe the reason Millen grabbed Mike Williams just became blazingly clear-- no pun intended. :)

I also don't agree with the Millen hate anymore. Since Millen has been here, sure we have Joey Harrington, but look at what else. We have one of the best Defenses in the NFL, maybe coming up weak at LB but you can't argue with our top 4 D Line and Top 8 secondary. We have sooo much talent at our skill positions on offense, other than QB, that it aint even funny. We have a RB who was a threat to be the NFL Rushing leader this year, we're four deep at receivers in terms of awesome talent, we have a great TE and very solid backup RBs. Our OL has some lines in it but it's nothing that can't be worked with. I understand the need to assess blame for the Lions woes, but you certainly cannot link them with Millen anymore considering all the good he's done.

I'm pissed at Mariucci for using a dumbed down playbook, which he admitted today. Open the fucking thing up.. you've got studs as WRs. Give them a chance to go downfield for big gains!!!

And yeah, anyone that agonizes over being a Jags fan has no idea what they're talking about. Seriously. No offense or anything, but you've got a solid QB in Byron Leftwich, respected around the league, and a team that can compete for the playoffs. Our team is competing to win the most godawful conference in possible NFL history.

we are not weak at LB anymore Boss Bailey is getting into stride and we got Teddy Lehman back. All we need now is for alex lewis to come back. Only place i worry is the secondary but Tory Holt is out for fuckin blood this year. I just heard this Charles Rogers news fuckin crazy, im sure Mike and Roy are pissed at him.

Yeah, no shit. I was chanting 'Run the ball, Marty! *clap clap clapclapclap*' all day yesterday and it finally got thru...in the 3rd quarter. He's got the best RB in the league (yeah, I said it, fuck Caddy) and it takes him forever to realize it yesterday. Marty is 'the man' and he's holding the brothas down.

Fellow Lions fans, if this revolt goes thru, our QB pain will soon be over
what revolt? who are you gonna play? fuckin dan orlovsky?

they need to quit fucking around and tell harrington that he's got the job til week 8 and they'll make a decision then on his overall performance. Do what he can. They need to tell the players to shut up and if they want the ball, they follow joey and CATCH THE FUCKING BALL.

it's that simple. quit scaring joey out of doing anything, and quit dropping passes. maybe block.

So when mariucci is fired at the end of the year, who should they bring in?

Michael Irvin just described the 0-3 Packers as "they undefeated the other way."

Michael Irvin, today on the Dan Patrick show, said that the only decision left for the Packers is when to bench Favre, tell him his career is over, and start seeing whether Aaron Rodgers is really their guy.

If he even attempted to say that on Countdown, he'd be drawn and quartered. It's a shame he didn't. We'd have been rid of Michael Irvin, plus somebody would actually make a good point about Brett Favre on national TV.

my only problem is that i can't understand wtf he's trying to say. You'd figure one of the requirements for being a television analyst would be having a grasp on the english language. Could be worse, at least he's not Shannon Sharpe.

in all seriousness they need to fucking give joey harrington a chance. His first year he was a damn rookie he shouldnt have been playing anyway. Second year who the fuck was there to pass to? And his coach was fucking marty morrnin..wahtever. Third year his numbers were actually up he's been improving. now these last 2 games the offense hasnt been on the damn field that much they got a total of like 38 snaps in the GAME. I hope he fuckin breaks out and has an awesome season.

Yeah good luck with that. I Guarantee Garcia will start atleast one game this season, and not because of injury to harrington

I am up on Astro in the FF league, but he has Steve Smith. Of course, since Delhomme only EVER throws to one receiver it should be an easy win for him.

Muhsin last year, Smith this year. Just fucking take away the one threat, easy win for opposing Ds.
