My place is going to be buzzing tonight, with the big game at the forefront followed by some poker leading into the early hours of the morning.

At last check, 5 leafers, 3 Hab fans, and about half a dozen girls who claim to be leaf fans. You know, the type that will lose interest 10 mins into the first and start yapping.

So this is it, I'll try to catch this thread at some point after the game, If I'm not to hammered to remember.

Good luck Leaf fans and may the best 8th place team win.

****ING GO HABS GO

Sounds like you're in for a good time tonight. I hope the Leafs fire JFJ regardless of whether they win tonight or not. I can't stand seeing him in the press box anymore.

:lol We need the Leafs to miss the playoffs man. I CAN'T stand another season of JFJ returning and having Raycroft here next year so that JFJ can continue to justify the trade and claim Raycroft is a true #1 goalie...

I just noticed the Flyers started Niittymaki. There is NO WAY that Brodeur gets the start tomorrow...:lol

EDIT: Damn....Wings laying a 6-0 beating on Chicago so far..

lol...3-2 Isles now...SH goal with 1 min left

If Flyers scored again it would be a miracle...hehe...since they are 2 men down for that last minute

EDIT : Nevermind..hehe...they almost scored on that last drive to tie it. Empty net, 4-2, game over.

Too little too late from Flyers.

So someone break it down for me...is this correct?

Habs Lose to Leafs, Isles win tomorrow = Isles in Playoffs

Habs lose to Leafs and Isles lose tomorrow = Leafs in playoffs

Habs tie tonight or get the OT point = Leafs out AND Isles out whether they win or not

Habs win and they are in no matter what.

Oy

Providing the Leafs win tomorrow is gonna be ****ing stressful

and

No third jerseys next season

The ugliest jerseys in the NHL are gone; and with them goes the option of a third jersey.

Nashville wore their oft-mocked mustard-coloured jerseys for the final time on Thursday, something that is just fine with the players -- but not for the reason you would think.

"They are a heavy jersey," forward Scott Nichol said. "If we go a long way in the playoffs, when it gets hot out, those would be like wearing a fur coat."

The Predators were 11-1-2 in the mustard sweaters this season. Since 2001 they've won 38 games, lost 19 and tied or lost 11 games in overtime wearing them.

The NHL will not allow its team the option to wear third jerseys next season

I hope the Canucks win in OT/SO. They would then clinch the division and a first round match-up versus the Stars. :)

Brodeur is NOT starting tomorrow, btw. GUHBYE LEAFERS. :lol

[edit] Sorry that isn't true. I misheard him:

"Right now, the plan is that I'm going to play," Brodeur told The Star. "But (Toronto) can't rely on me beating the Islanders for (the Leafs) to get in the playoffs. If I think it's right not to play and that hurts Toronto, too bad."

All correct except for the bolded. If the Habs lose in OT and get one point, the Islanders can still pass both the Habs and Leafs with a win tomorrow.

True, true. The Canucks have actually played better against the Sharks than the Stars this year...

....then again Turco is a no-show in the playoffs...

....but so is Thornton...

Vancouver is keeping San Jose a neutral zone mess. Very nice penalty kill at the end of the 1st.

A friend of mine hates the Sens... he's offering me a 3:1 bet -- but I don't know enough about hockey to take his offer or not!

If the sens wins their series vs penguins, he pays me $150... if they lose, I pay him $50. Am I being swindled?

He must really hate the Sens to bet you that, I'd say the Sens have a good chance of beating the Pens, but the Pens are a wildcard, they're kind of hard to predict since this is their first time making the playoffs with the group of players they have.

Don't worry, we won't be making the playoffs. The Islanders will easily beat the Devils tomorrow without Brodeur. I wonder if New Jersey's backup even remembers how to play goal.

As a Leafs fan, I hope Raycroft, McCabe, Sundin, Hal Gill play like crap- so we can sack them all. McCabe perhaps missing the net on a powerplay (as usual) with a 100mph shot and the puck bounces past Raycroft - because he was dreaming about endorsements from Gillette. I hope the Habs hit double digit so I can see this team get re-tooled with at least 1 player who can reach top 20 in scoring.

Woohoo NW Division Champs 07!

I expect some epic first-round battles between Barrage and the GAF Canucks Defence Force.

hrm, so because the win was in OT...that locks down everything in the west except the #8 spot. Hopefully Anaheim and Minnesota will destroy each other in a 7 game triple OT affair.

Detroit vs. (Flames/Avs)
Anaheim vs. Minnesota
Vancouver vs. Dallas
Nashville vs. San Jose

Isles win, adding an additional layer of intrigue to tonight's 2nd annual "Fight Over 8th Place Like Two Drunks Rolling Around In The Gutter For A Cigarette Butt Calder Memorial" bout between Montreal and the Laughs. All of which could be moot depending on what happens between the Smyth Wunderkinds and the Devils anyways.

Then, Vancouver clinches the Northwest Division against the San Jose Sharks, taking the season series 3-1 and most importantly, locking up a first round bye.

Colorado plays Nashville, who have been somewhat slumping as of late. Calgary could still get the boot from the postseason, after finding themselves in the unenviable position of giving their opponents, the Greasers, something to *really* play for. This is Edmonton's game 7, and I salute their efforts.

Somebody give me a refresher on the Manics/Forza ban bet, please. :D
