Nieds is getting 7 for sure, he's one of the rare player to be actually worth that amount of money. He's the most complete D there is out there, he's phenomenal in both offensive and deffensive zone.

Eklund (unreliable source, mind you), claims that Adrian Aucoin will be an Hab and he pegs the chances at 75%.

If someone were to compile a list of all the bullshit rumours that Eklund has ever put forth, be it lockout rumours and/or trade deadline rumours, this forum wouldn't be big enough to contain all his bull.

Eklund claims to be an insider, yet he totally missed the boat on Goodenow stepping down. Where was that rumour before it happened?

Now Eklund has got idiots paying him MONEY to access his idiotic rumours. I guess if you're that stupid, you deserve to be parted from your money.

Paying 7 mil for a perennial 30 point defenceman is stupid. I dont care how he can control the flow. The guy is overrated cause he skates pretty.

Typical comment from someone who hasn't seen Nierdermayer play more than 5-7 games a year.

Yeah ok :lol
Niedermayer is a poormans Lidstrom. FINAL JUDGEMENT

Malakhov said:
Final judgement is you have no clue what a good defenseman is.
Did I say he wasnt good? No.
Hes just not worth 7 million. Most I would ever pay him is 5~5.5. The next tier is Pronger and Lidstrom at 6-6.5.

Whats Prongers qualifying offer? 7.8?

Nierdermeyer won the norris last season, not Pronger nor Lidstrom. He's been consistent for more than a decade and he's not declining, he even got more points last year. But like I said, you don't judge Nierdemayer by his point but by his play and he's the most complete D in the game right now, bar none.

This man says the truth.

I'll take Prongers offense/defense/and crazy mean streak over Niedermayer everyday of the week and twice on Sunday. Lets just call Nieds norris trophy what it was... a lifetime achievement award. :)

And I HATE Chris Pronger as a person =P

The Pens will pick up Niedermayer's contract. Just accept this as fact. Then they'll have enough to sign Alexei Kovalev and the team will be set.

Whooooa! I just woke up from a crazy dream!

Yes, 54 points, +20. He sure didn't deserve it while he played all out in both zones all season long.

But it's alright, you can have pronger all you want, I'd take Nierdermayer on my team any day of the week instead ;)

Just accept the fact that the Habs have first rights to negotiate with Kovalev till the first day of August .

I don't think gainey will let him go away easily.

Foreign Jackass said:
I think we (Montreal) can safely forget about him. I think Gainey's more interested in other available players, right now.

Interested in who?

Naslund and Forsberg?

Forget about it.

Neidermeyer, for 7 mil a year? Not gonna happen.

Kariya or Selanne? Maybe.

Palffy, Allison: don't seem likely candidate for the habs.

Other wise I dunno who'd be better.

I don't think Naslund and Forsberg will play together. Naslund will stay in Van. Forsberg in Mtl? Maybe. Kariya, maybe, Selanne, maybe. Palffy, maybe. Allison, no.

Seriously though, nobody knows. It's just that Kovalev wants to go back and play with Lemieux.

The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have traded right wing Todd Fedoruk to the Mighty Ducks of Anaheim in exchange for a second round pick in the 2005 NHL Entry Draft (59th overall), according to club General Manager Bob Clarke.

Burke got fleeced. Wtf. A second round pick for TODD FEDORUK??

What the fuck is a guy like Georges Laraque worth? :lol

Holy shit, Holik is 34?? Did not know he was that old.

Add me to the Pronger > Niedermayer crowd. Sure, Niedermayer is a great player and has value beyond mere numbers, but Pronger has even *more* value beyond mere numbers. Like dem, I like a d-man who can change a game simply by being pure pig evil and willing to destroy guys. Offensively I'd have Niedermayer a bit above Pronger (but not that much) and defensively they're close too with Pronger getting a clear nod, but Pronger has a physical aspect that almost no one can match. Niedermayer... he'll bump a guy when he needs to and isn't a pushover or anything but that's about it. Pronger is more of a leader and Niedermayer has been known to go on autopilot for stretches (granted his autopilot is pretty damn effective). If Pronger hadn't been hurt for almost all of 02-03 we wouldn't even need to have this conversation.

No kidding. :lol A low second rounder but still.

The only major paper we get here is the Edmonton SUN, and they had a great interview with Steve Staios concerning things getting back to normal.

One topic that came up was if Bettman should also resign, following Goodenow's example.

Staios said a few things which I definately agree with. He said that the NHL is the worst marketed sport out of the major North American spectator sports, and he said that he doesn't expect that to change as Bettman has had the opportunity to improve over the last many years.

Staios also said (something along the lines of) just because the NHL got a favourable end of this deal, doesn't make Bettman a winner or mean that he is the right man for the job. He could change and really drive to make the league more marketable but judging from his track record he doubts it.

The best statement is when he said that Goodenow can admit that he is not suitable for the job, let's see if Bettman has that kind of integrity. Heheh, I'm totally paraphrasing it and I'm probably putting words in his mouth...

Toronto slashed all it's ticket prices by 5 percent (lmao, so that means they're about 50% higher than everyone else still... but whatever...

this however:

n Toronto, seats will range from $35 (down from $37 in 2003-04) in the upper purple section to $173 (down from $182) in the lower gold and platinum sections

makes no sense.

Last season I paid $220 for 20th row off the ice behind the benches. That was the printed ticket price. (and just 1 ticket) and iirc i was still in red section, not even gold

The platinum (rink side) go for a lot more :P so where they get this $182 ticket from is beyond me.

Ewww, just the thought of people paying to watch Leafs hockey makes me wanna puke n' stuff, gaahhhhh.

The Internet

I can imagine a fan of any team, even the ones I hate the most (Sens, Yankees) wanting to pay to see them pay. I think you're full of shit.

Out of all the pewp that's thrown at fans of the Leafs, this comment gets you all crying?

Canes must have been dancing when they heard Burke was taking Ryan. Does any team need a dman more than the canes?

Now the sheer tragedy of a 26th pick is hitting home. :(

Minny takes my #2 pick, Pouliot

Ok, if James Duthie begins one more interview by mentioning Crosby first I hope the kid he's interviewing slaps him.

Could people be more insensitive? Every single fucking interview with Pouliot they have to talk about his father dying. Jesus fuck.

Carey Price for Montreal

Wheres Malakhovs gun?

God damn i wish the oilers didnt get fucked in the lotto... =P

Brule to Columbus. Nice pick.

I wonder if Anze Kopitar will drop a bit. People seem to be coming back to earth with him lately.

I wish the hfboards werent down so I could see montreal fans cry

Skille to Chicago

I had Setoguchi 10-15. Higher than most.

I figured Sharks would step up to get Kopitar.. seeing as they dont shy away from GERMAN players. IF they can draft Germans they can draft slovenians.

LOL
Brian LEE???
That guy looked terrible at the wjhc

Luc Bourdon to Vancouver.

This draft is ALL OVER THE PLACE.

Thank god these scouts arent just reading the redlinereport and drafting. :lol

Brian Lee has like 5 shifts at the WJC so it's no surprise no one remembers him. He looked out of his element a bit, not a huge surprise given his age but that's a high pick for him.

:lol Good news Canucks fans, Pierre McGuire LOVES your pick of Luc Bourdon!

Luke who? Aw fuck it, he'll be the next coming of Orr, Lidstrom and Pronger all in one!

THE MARCH TO THE CUP BEGINS WITH LUC

edit: CS had him at #6...not bad!
