That's even more of a factor when it comes to Leafs games. We can't even rely on getting "grocery store nosebleeds" for less than $50 or so off of scalpers. If you want anything in the lower deck....any time during a season...oh boy, get ready to bring out those $100's. It sucks watching the first 10 minutes of every period on TV and seeing the platinums empty as the people are too busy schmoozing in the lounges to get to their seats in time.

Sometimes I get lucky and get through to ticketmaster when tix go on sale

They need to bring back the Coke zone tickets!

This is why you should move to Vancouver and follow the Canucks instead. Cheaper tickets and the team is actually entertaining.

leafs are the most entertaining team in the league. bar none.

I watch other games as well (as many as i can) and not many teams can match the leafs excitement.

Examples of the most exciting hockey. Leafs vs Montreal (Leafs lost in OT, but it was an incredible game)

Playoffs... last game where the leafs lost (again) To see the amount of back and forth action and bodies flying everywhere...

Of course having crazy fans help too. The chants, the cheers and the boos all lend into the atmosphere and excitement of the game.

bleh

Crazy fans? I'm not so sure. We have great fans, but they can't always get in the building. Our crowds aren't bad, but I think the high ticket prices limits the real (and loudest) fans from either going to the game or sitting anywhere but the very worst seats. Fans> Suits when it comes to noise, and we've got a helluva lotta suits in the building. Although right now I think I'd settle for a 90 year old man clapping in the stands right about now, since I can't wait for them to resume play :)

Not a Leaf fan at all, but I somewhat agree with Dopey. The Saturday night games at the ACC are usually high scoring, and generally keep me tuned in for the entire game.

Their playoff series are pretty good as well, the last 3 minutes of Game #6 against Philly in '04 will always be etched in my memory for the hectic back n' forth action until JR ripped one top corner.

Definitely IYO. I went to four regular season games and read the papers regularily enough to know the city loves it's team. But considering that Iginla was on the trade-away bubble, Turek turned out to be a flop, the team was failing to rebuild - just as badly as the Rangers - and the constant financial threat affecting the province, it was tough to be as passionate as much as Torontonians, who, winning or not, can afford enough stars and spend enough cash to at least make the playoffs when they want to.
That may be true about Toronto now but back in the 80's when Harold Ballard owned the team we knew the money was there but he refused to pay the money necessary to win. Hell, the Leafs didn't have a winning record during the regular season for 14 straight years but they were still supported by the city. Fans are not "fair-weather fans" here, we knew hard times but loved the team anyway.

That's especially true since there are only 700 tickets made available to the general public each game. You want to buy some of those tickets? You better buy them at the beginning of the season. To make it worse, there's a waiting list of over 5,000 people just to get season tickets and almost all of those people will end up getting shitty seats when there's finally some available.

I love all you Leafs fans, but if you don't stop chanting go leafs go at games where neither teams are the Leafs I'm going to kill every last one of you. :)

You must've reaching for a blade when idiots were chanting "Go Leafs Go!!" during the Conan tapings. :lol

Does that shit actually happen? You have got to be kidding....

Well I imagine it's a problem more here in Buffalo than anywhere else, since the place is often filled with Leafs fans who can't get tickets/can't afford tickets to the ACC. It is a great atmosphere for Leafs/Sabres games when the arena is half and half and the ushers have their hands full breaking up fights. However, when it's like Buffalo/Boston or something and the 10 Leafs fans sitting behind me start up with the "Go Leafs Go" I start to wonder if maybe they are too drunk to realize that neither of these teams are Toronto. :lol Hell, I've been at Buffalo Bills NFL FOOTBALL games and heard go leafs go.

Was looking at our prospects pool this morning...

Carey Price
Alex Perezhogin
Andrei Kostitsyn
Chris Higgins
Kyle Chipchura
Tomas Plekanec
Guillaume Latendresse
Yann Danis
Juraj Mikus
Mikhail Grabovsky

*** Marcel Hossa
*** Ron Hainsey

*** Not really prospects anymore though, this is their do it or break it season.

Let's just say the next few seasons are gonna be an awful lot of fun to follow with these guys.

Yahoo says they're starting their fantasy hockey leagues in August....we should do a GA league for sure. It'll be weird drafting players not knowing their true value in this 'new" NHL, since we haven't seen the rule changes in effect, and we haven't seen most of these guys play in a year, but we've got a good group of people in this thread and I'm sure we can get a good league going.

Heh, I have done that a few times (at HSBC). Funny thing is, I am not a Leafs fan. :lol

Dude, I'm in.

You're in a league already? Do you mean you're just waiting for yahoo to open with some people or are you playing on a site that's already open?

Damn it if Forsberg and Naslund sign with the Avs I'll be pissed, if they sign the the Canucks I'll be pissed. I can't win. :(

I'm sort of afraid that Naslund and Forsberg are going to sign with Colorado, but that just may be my pessimistic side. I don't know why Naslund would sooner take a paycut to play with Colorado than stay with the Canucks, unless Forsberg refused to leave. Kariya and Selanne did their thing for Cup aspirations, but the Avs are no more a certainty than the Canucks.

I suppose if Naslund does leave, that would leave some room for big signings (ie, Niedermeyer). I'd much rather have him stay, though.

Just incase theres a team limit..
I'm declaring my intentions to play in the yahoo league =P

I hope we do a sporting news league too. I like that one as well.

I'm in for a Yahoo league. :D

I guess I'd do a Sporting News one too, it's a nice seconday fantasy game because you don't have to pay much attention to it if you don't want to.

Mainly though I'd love to do a big, active Yahoo league.

I'll be in charge of creating it, and I'm sure all the regulars here will get in. Hopefully we'll get 12, but 10 is fine I think as long as everyone's a big hockey fan.

Tomorrow should be a fun day....I hope we see at least one big signing.

At 12:01 the Leafs will sign every free agent

I don't know.....I think the best (Leaf fans..obviously I can only speak for myself) we can hope for is signing a guy who really wants to play here (a lindros) at a bargain price, since the market value for most players hasn't really been decided yet in the new system and we'd be foolish to overpay and the players would be foolish to accept a shitty contract before seeing how things unfold.

Theres more than one scouting service...

I see, so Hab fans follow the unrealistic scouting service then? The fact that the actual draft followed along closely to what central scouting had the players ranked at, leads me to believe it's a pretty accurate indicator of where these players should go.
