Damn supposidely we get Andre Roy for 3 years/ 3 mill I think that is over paying a little bit for a guy that only had 8 fights in 03/04.


Hmm I think that we over paid. Domi must have wanted a couple of million dollars per season.

AGAIN, Lowe went to a team that had to dump salary (Yashin anyone?) to pick up a great Canadian kid.

York (like Brewer) was good, but Peca is one of the best in the league at his position (like Pronger).

But dude... York is offensive. Mike Peca is a GREAT shutdown center... but its not like hes putting up as many points as York. I dont get this move at all.

Unless.. theyre trying to lure Forsberg into ETOWN BABY.. WOOO
 
I really have no clue what Lowe is doing...
...he either trusts the young guys a lot or is still planning to pick up some good forwards.
But the more he 'upgrades' existing players, the less money he has left!

Just because there is a cap doesn't necessarily mean that teams (like the Oilers) can afford to hit the cap!

He still has to sign Smyth and co. doesn't he?

So Perezhogin with Ribeiro and Ryder is a lock for the Habs then.

What did you expect? Don't they still have to qualify Koivu and Theodore? That'll take up cap space right there. No room to make huge moves especially with the ridiculous contract Kovalev was given.
 
Don't forget that GMs still need to leave cap space for moves during the season. Some of you act like these are the final rosters you'll be seeing once the playoffs come around - for the most part, there won't be a lot of movement but they still have to retain fluidity. Going right up against the cap isn't smart.

Another reason why I'm so incredibly pleased at the Leafs' non-performance in the FA signings. :D
 
Kovalev's contract is not ridiculous, look at the other contracts given and it's out there with the rest of them. I'm just pissed because I don't care much for him.

Kovy's contract is rediculous. As a die hard pen fan, we wanted him back very badly. But I haven't seen any substantial offers as rumors floated around that had him higher then 3.5 or 4 at the max. Shoot, Recchi for 3 million is a better deal then Kovy for 4.5

O'Neill had better numbers than Kovalev the last 4 years and he signed for 1.5 million

Bah, Peca is a boring player.

I predict that Kovy's haters will eat their socks when he's producing this year. He loves Montreal, he chose it over Pittsburgh, which he loved too. In the playoffs we started seeing some chemistry with Koivu and Zednik. I'm just sad that Gainey is saying it's over.

Just heard that Pittsburgh is one of Forsberg's final four choices... Along with Colorado, and two other teams I don't remember. He's going to announce his team tomorrow. And Penguins are talking to Modano?! Why...? :(

Good move for the Oilers, I never was a York fan, and Peca...well, he's fucking Peca. I do hope Smyth signs soon though. I just told my friend who is the hugest Peca fan and he freaked out. Can't wait for the late games of HNIC, except when its Calgary vs someone :P

I would say it is more accurate to say that Kovy loves money! I hope he really plays well for you.



Hot damn if Foppa comes to the Pens. I wish I could see where that rumor is sprouting from. It is all over the pens board I frequent as well. Same with Modano...

Please no.......shit shit shit. At least we've mainly played them in the playoffs and not in the regular season, and with the new schedule the teams in their division (pens, etc) will have to deal with them. I'm waiting for a link....but shit. Kill me now...it's confirmed.
 
Kovalev does love Montreal, he said a lot of times last year that playing for the Habs in the playoffs last season was probably his best moment in in NHL career.

And judging Kovalev's point production from the last seasons with the Rangers is ridiculous, not his contract.

He played very well at the world cup and in Russia last season. He deserves his 4.5 millions but like I said, I would of prefered someone else like Satan instead of him.

Apparently the pens won't make any deal for the next 10 yrs if rumors are true.

If the Forsberg stuff is true, I'd be shocked if he lasts the contract.

Heh...should have taken a page out of Dave Nonis' book. Provide the RFAs with a holding offer while spending the bulk of your efforts on the FAs. Worked for us!

edit: Floppa to the Flyers? holy crap Bobby Clarke certainly isn't going to let a little thing like a cap stop him, is he? :lol
 
YES!! My Oilers are going to win the cup. Now, they only need kariya then its a done deal. Calgary is going down this year (oilers will swept the 8 games we'll play against 'em), their fluke season means nothing now.

I gotta say, I love what Edmonton is doing. They signed two tough as nails players, former captains, guys who you know are going to lay it out on the line every night. In fact Peca goes a little too hard sometimes, which leads to him getting injured a lot.

The aquisition of Forsberg puts the Flyers over the NHL's salary cap, but GM Bob Clarke expects to make a trade within the next two days to get back under the league's financial limit.

The player most likely to go is veteran Jeremy Roenick, with NHL sources suggesting he is about to be moved to the L.A. Kings.

I have a feeling the Canuckleheads will add S. Neideymayer (sp?) to their line-up. Hence the reason why they got rid of sopel.

EDIT: On second thought, maybe not. Too many teams in the running to suggest something like that. I only heard that roenik is off to florida
