btw someone reported that Modano is about to sign with bruins for 4M-4.5M millions. How the hell can someone like Aucoin get 4M and a superstar like Modano the same?

Damn, just what I was thinking although not quite that extreme. We still have Briere/Dumont/Drury and Vanek coming up. But wtf, this is supposed to be the new NHL, equal playing field, salary cap, small markets can compete and all that crap, so sign some people!! Instead it's same old same old...let your top scorer and defenseman go because you say you can't pay them, and sign no one. Seems like nothing's changed at all. *Bangs head against wall*

so you're an oilers fan? They're top3 on my hate list after how badly they treated salo.
 
4 M - 4.5 mil per years seems like the magic number this year.


If Gainey doesn't sign ONE big name, he's gonna be shred to pieces this year.


Also if Kovalev was such a lock for pittsburgh, why didn't he sign yet?

How in the WORLD did the Oilers treat Salo badly? Fact of the matter is he SUCKED at the end. We were paying him 3.5 million to let pucks bounce bounce in off his head. The Oilers were the only good thing in his fucking career.
 
btw whats with TSN? Sportsnet is beating them to the punch on every signing. They just finally got the Holik signing up on the transactions page.

How did the Oilers treat Salo badly?
If anything, they hung onto him a season too long. After the Olympics, he was never the same. Plus, he never stepped it up in the playoffs. He wasn't terrible, but he was incredibly mediocre - certainly not worth his wage.

Darn.....Murray and Aucoin gone.... I can live with that, I just really hope we sign Allison and Lindros (is he out of town or something? The guy was dying to be a Leaf last time we saw him. why hasn't he signed?) along with a speedy winger. Busy day so far.

If Satan likes where he is and is reasonably motivated he could score over 40. He scored 29 last season basically hating Lindy Ruff (Ruff put him on the 4th line because Satan was always floating) and taking half of the games off.

Do it now! Man, what a disapointment free agency has been for Pens fans. He has no excuse... The team has to make up about money to even be eligible for the low end of the cap.

Come on CP! Maybe he'll land Kariya to make up for it.

Theo wants to sign a long term contract with the Habs, he's seeking 22 millions for 4 years so that means 5.5 millions per season.

I can't believe what is going on, every D in the league is getting signed and Gainey is not moving. Good move by letting Brisebois go now :(

Remember, the habs have a 11 million budget for UFA's....

He must be in the race for somebody he believes he can get.

Hell last week he said he'd be active.

The party's been going a bit too fast.

I'm sure he's actively pursuing Kovalev.

As for other UFA's: I dunno.

The Canadian teams are bound to announce some signings SOON.
 
If Floppa is really speaking to the Habs he better bring Naslund with him.

He offered mega contracts in Dallas and here he doesn't want to spend a dime.

Lecavalier? This year no. Next year? Maybe.
 
not sure if anyone noticed but the Russian hockey teams unanimously rejected the IIHF's deal with the NHL which would basically mean that if no deal is made soon, the NHL won't be going to the olympics afterall.
