I don't think I have heard a single true rumor this year. Everything I've heard or seen was already confirmed by the time I saw it. Not a single true thing has been mentioned before hitting either Sportsnet.ca, MGSNews.com or TSN.ca.

You speak the truth. Rumors are shitty. I want confirmed signings not rumors.

Naslund's signing was posted before it was official I believe....I'm trying to think of others, but yeah, they suck....won't stop me from posting them though! :lol

I heard a rumour about Peca coming to the Oilers... and thats about the only one that I didnt post. :lol

Malakhov said:
Fuck no. I will kill Gainey if he brings Domi here.

Yeah that was a totally made up lie rumor by me, but it was good while it lasted. :lol
Domi to Koivu ---- Scorrrrrreeeesssss!!!!

Well that's nice, we overpay Roberts for years and now he repays the Leafs by slandering our team to other players. Thanks Gary, enjoy your retriement home in Florida that we financed.

I like the line in the article:
"You've got to treat players who have earned respect throughout the league with respect".

Respect is a two way street, he made it rich off the Leafs and where's his respect to the organization?

First fifty, then Shinobi and now Manics. Thank God for showing me that smart Leaf fans actually do exist. :)

Slander? How do you know how things are done within the MLSE organization? I don't think many players like the business of the sport anyway.

Yes, let's go by what his agent said, heh.

Shinobi said:
WTF...the best hockey Cujo ever played for the Leafs (outside of the Flyers series in '99) was in that series against the Canes.

I wasn't blaming Cujo, just pointing out that he was tending goal during the series in case people thought I was confusing him with Belfour. I wasn't stating my point clearly, and that's my bad. Sorry for the confusion.

fallout said:

Right. I highly doubt the agent would say anything that would cast his clients in anything but a favorable light. I'll just add this grain of salt to his comments and move on.

Uh, trying to convince Roberts to sell out his best friend since age 5 was a slimy-ass thing for Ferguson to do. The article states baldly that for Roberts to receive more money in a matched offer from TO, Nieuwendyk would have had to accept less - but Ferguson wanted Roberts to take the offer without talking to Nieuwendyk first. What, did he really think they wouldn't see through him? Combine that sort of grade-school political ineptitude with TO's cap problems and it's no wonder agents are steering their FAs away from that monkey house.

"That's Leafs hockey, baby."

What did Yushkevich say upon leaving the leafs?
The only honest person in the Leafs organization is Carlton the bear... cause he never says anything? :lol

carlton%20the%20bear.jpg

Sounds about right.

Sabres making a move? Sabres getting Jason Allison? Woooooooo!

Sitting and watching the first two days and watch the Sabres do absolutely nothing was agonizing, so anything would get me excited at this point. Allison had a big injury a few years ago. Did he ever fully recover from that? I just remember him on the Bruins, and I liked him then.

I have to admit that I must not know a lot about the Leafs' perception amongst the rest of the league, or with their fans. I get my info from ESPN, SI, and the Leafs website. I didn't know about TSN until this weekend. Hockey coverage where I live is limited at best, what there is is Blue Jackets coverage, and I know very few fans so I can only go with what I find. I thought I'd apologize for that right up front since I plan on posting throughout the season. I'll learn. :)

(RUMOR) Kayria to Oilers
ESPN just said its very possibly they will sign him soon.

HOLD ON TO YOUR SEATS, BITCHES
OILERS SHAKING UP THE NHL AGAIN

"Mojo 640 in Toronto is reporting that the Toronto Maple Leafs have made a substancial offer to Detroit forward Henrik Zetterberg."

Oh shit :lol

Does Toronto know wtf its doing???
This is like watching a trainwreck.

OH FUCK PLEASE

OH FUCK PLEASE

OH GOD OH GOD

Kariya rumor has been heard on team 1260, espn, and 100.3 the bear.

By the time I goto bed I expect him to be an Edmonton Oiler.

I can already hear Kevin Lowe at the press conf.
"He epitomizes Oiler Hockey!"
"He was MADE for Edmontons ice!"
"This guy would have fit right in on the run and gun teams of the 80s!"
"<insert some crap about the heartland of hockey>"
Lowes got a million of them :D

edit:
Al Stafford on CHED just said that he has no word that Kariya is coming to the Oilers and they will try to get some info about it.

aw fart..

NO MORE GODDAMMIT LOWE WTF IS UP WITH YOU.

Fuck it, Flames are still a better team. Although with the Langkow signing the Flames have a disturbingly high number of Edmontonians on the roster! I'm sure Sutter runs a tight ship, but I'd be worried about a NWO-style heel turn with the Edmonton born players jumping ship to the oilers mid-game if someone ineffectual like Don Hay was still coach.

**take this with a grain of salt.. but.. **

the fan 960(calgarys radio station) have confirmed that the Oilers WILL sign Kariya, however they did not confirm the details of the signing

:lol :lol :lol
WHOS BETTER THAN EDMONTON???

Is that such a bad thing? Unless he was super cheap. I wouldn't want the Canucks signing Kariya for 2 mill or higher.

[edit] hah... so by "did not confirm", do you mean "did not release" or are there reports of the figures

YOURE JUST JEALOUS

Dont worry.. I would be too if I was stuck with THAT team. The one that has proven it cant win.

Nothing yet.

If by the end of tomorrow they haven't announced at least one signing, Damien Cox is going to plant a dead hooker in Fergie's trunk, just to stir the pot a little.

Jealous? You've been incessantly shitting on the Canucks for a couple years now. THAT was jealousy. Now you're finally starting to acquire players that make the Oilers COMPARABLE to the Canucks and apparently it's the Gretzky/Messier/Kurri era all over again!

Really, I reserved that Kariya comment until it looked like he WASNT going to the Oilers. The Peca reply... an honest stab. But if the Oilers can swing it under the cap, more power.

Getting old.

Zetterberg would be a nice acquisition. But I have a feeling it'll just be to get the fans back on board (positive) and they'll spare no expense ($$$).

Haha, he needs to do it

Sundin is going to have to be superman for this team to have any chance

When training camp starts we can compare the 2 rosters, right now I'd give the edge to Edmonton, just because they have more key players (except smyth) under contract, once Calgary gets Kipper signed up they obviously have the edge in goal (although Conklin's stock is on the rise, we'll see what he can do as #1 this year), Calgarys defence is pretty good, but you can't start comparing Regher to Pronger just yet, yes they have Dion, but I can't see him making a huge impact in his rookie year. After Iginla calgary is pretty light up front, Amonte will help, so will Langkow, the same can be said for Edmonton, who will hopefully lock up their RFA forwards soon. The battle of Alberta is going to be extra special this year :D

You take everything I say much too seriously.
Accept that I'm going to bash the canucks everyday. Its part of my daily routine. Like eating.. and my 6 oclock shit.

The thing is that the Oilers and Flames play an incredibly different type of game.
The Flames are much more solid and gritty while the Oil are a lot more explosive and streaky (Peca and Pronger will help stabalize things). Who knows what the new rules will do...

I like to think that the new rules will, like the new CBA, favor teams like Edmonton.

PS: Kariya would be FUCKING NICE, but rumors are rumors.

Because you were bitter and jealous, boy! No doubt there's jest, but inspiration as well.

I still have Calgary above Edmonton as a team and as a prediction for the standings at the end of the year. No doubt the Oilers improved themselves as much as any team outside of maybe Philly, but unless the Oilers get Kariya (please, god, please no) I'm cautiously optimistic. :D

Today I got to use my "positioning themselves to win the draft lottery" joke about the Leafs 'plans' during work, to great effect. :lol

I would find it ironic if Avs attendance dropped off because they arn't icing one of the best teams in the league, a true test for fans is when your team is terrible and you still sell out games.

In other words, you're looking to see if they're the Pittsburg Penguins of the last ten years? :lol

Ha, he didnt get his 7.8 millions after all. Neither did Pronger, Iginla and Forsberg.

New Jersey was defintely offering Scott the max...he just wanted to play out west with his bro.

I knew I should've said something about this last night...I had a feeling that the Ducks would land him. I would've looked like a genius!

Zhamnov to Bruins according to some sources but get this...

3 years at 4 millions each...

What the shit? 4 mill for Leetch was looney enough. Guess they're serious about shedding the "cheapskate" label. :lol

not many leaf fans will admit it, but this is a blessing in disguise. its time to build a "TEAM" rather than trying to piece shit together at the trading deadline every year!

Agreed...they've got shit on the farm, probably got next to nothing in terms of draft picks (they traded at least two good ones for their two month Leetch rental), and this core couldn't even beat the Flyers when that team was merely good. Blow it up, or at least take a step back this year, and reload next year.

You should hear the phone in segments in this town...I guess when even the Sabres have managed to make a FA splash before you do, things aren't looking good. :lol

At least Leafs and Hab fans are talking shit again...haven't seen that happen since '93. :lol

Ah, okay...my bad. That '02 playoff run was my second favourite for the Leafs, behind the magical run in '93. The Leafs were literally being carried by farm hands in the playoffs. Just a shame they couldn't go any further.

Sounds about right.

:lol Yushkevich rocked...and that quote is as on point now as it was back then.

That Gary and Joe were played off each other by Fergie was something that was known a few days ago, and I'd be beyond pissed as well if that was done to me (don't talk to my lifelong friend about it? Fuck you). It's just another example of the complete and utter ineptness of the MLSE "empire", one that was carried by the most explosive dunker of all time and two goaltenders playing far better then they ought to, masking their mistakes for years. Now the chickens are coming home to roost...the nonsensical theory that all English Canadians will do ANYTHING to play for the Leafs has proven to been complete bullshit, just as it was three years ago when the Leafs were left in the dust in the summer '02 free agent market. There's a sickening arrogance with this outfit where they believe that players will just come to them, and half the time they only make plays for a free agent when they're a few hours away from making a decision between one of a few teams that were actively courting them for weeks. If I've got two teams that have been after me from the getgo, phoning me up, speaking directly to me instead of my agent, and then the Leafs come in late and drops some half-assed number on me the day I'm going to make my decision, who do you think I'm gonna tell to fuck off? I'd say it's pretty obvious.

There's one positive to all of this; at long last, MLSE President Richard Peddie might finally get his nuts used for dice. It was his brilliant idea to hire a rookie GM for the Raptors, and his brilliant idea to hire a rookie GM for the Leafs. Two guys with minimal experience in running anything more then a beer league outfit, expected to do the job in the fifth biggest market in North America. You wonder why Vince wanted to get the fuck outta here? You wonder why the Raptors have been viewed in the same light as the Clippers the last few years? You wonder why the fucking Sabres are looking to beat us to a free agent who hasn't taken a shot in anger in two years? When you've got Mickey Mouse running the show, these are all the things you should expect.

Thank the Lord the EPL kicks it's season off next week...at least Arsenal knows how to run a team.

I'm surprised he passed the physical, no he has yet to show he recovered, hasn't played since, he's a great player if you can get him in the lineup

They're trying to lock up Thorton by giving him some good linemates.
