Heheh, that first question must have been painful for you Drensch. :)

CHRIS PRONGER: To answer your question on the 32 games, it's obvious interdivision games are going to be pretty important. Obviously you play at an extremely competitive level, rivalries play a part of that, and are going to become more and more a part of the landscape I think as we go into the year, and obviously into the future years, if that's the way it continues.
Having that many games against your division and when you get two and three games at a time against one team, you're going to see some drastic moves up and down the leaderboard. So it's going to be exciting and I'm looking forward to it. I think it's going to be great for the fans and great for the league, and obviously with our division and the moves all of the teams in our division have made, it's going to be exciting.

Obviously.

CHRIS PRONGER: I think with the salary cap, the fans really, really believe they have a chance to win the Stanley Cup; whereas in the past they didn't feel that way. It's one of those things that with that comes excitement and that thrill that you're going to have that opportunity to hold the Cup at the end of the year and your team is going to do everything possible to try to do that, but within obviously the salary cap framework.

Except the Wings. :(

XM Radio will be broadcasting NHL games for the next ten years. Roughly 85% or so of the games (PR says over 1000 games, there's 1230 regular season game)

Did anyone bother setting up a sportingnews gaf league? If not... i did :D

league: gafhockey
pw: smyth

I might like the sportingnews fantasy hockey better than yahoo. I like watching my franchise value grow! =P
More ppl need to sign up. It's a great little fantasy hockey game - it's easy and a very low time commitment. 30mil dollar salary cap, and you pick 7 players to fill a team. Player value goes up and down based on performance and popularity, and you get 2 trades a week to (hopefully) trade up to get more effective players as the guys you picked (hopefully) go up in value. Since it's a small team size and you can only make 2 roster moves a week, it's not something you have to check very often which is nice if, like me, you are already in 4 other much more time consuming (and costly) hockey pools.

One thing though is that the salary values of the players on TSN seem *much* better than, for example, the player rankings on Yahoo. Which sucks, because I was hoping to abuse the system and score young players for cheap only to find that highly touted young guys are valued much closer to what I think they'll probably be worth. ;) Compare that to Yahoo, who's player rankings don't take the lockout, trades, aging, injuries or anything else into account.
*cough* Only 4 teams, come on there was like 7 or so last year. And who's the last guy who joined? That can't be System Shark, because if it was why isn't he posting?

Didn't you see the filthy Oiler fans gibbering and screaming at the Pronger signing? I needed backup, dammit! It was like a riot scene from one of the later, sucky, Planet of the Apes movies and I would have been overwhelmed by over excited Oiler faithful had a secret tacit agreement with (shudder) Canucks fans not brought out some temporary allies. We even had some Avs fans riding shotgun, it was a heartwarming scene of bitter enemies banding together in the face of a new threat. :lol

Heh, I actually forgot myself until a buddy brought it to my attention. None of the freaking preseason games are televised.

It will at least be nice hearing the Flames lay a licking on the Oilers Friday, any ways. :D

Anyone know when Leaf tix go on sale?
What about Sens tix? I want to visit my sister in Ottawa and take her to a game cause she's never been to an NHL game

afaik they already are on sale.

I got 4 tickets to montreal at toronto sep 23.

Im so stoked, never been to a game in my life, and finally the dream will be realized.

I wonder how many other hab fans will be at the game? I've got a feeling people are going to get pissed everytime the habs score and I cheer my fucking guts out, but if they got a problem I won't feel the least bit guilty about sending some leafers to the emergency ward. ;)

Tell you what, if the brodcast cuts to the stands where a single guy in a hab jersey is taking on a crowd of leaf fans, you'll know who it is.

I will leave the game with no voice, guaranteed.

GO HABS GO

regardless, im still stoked.

Hey its like the first habs/leafs matchup in like...what, 1 an a half, two years?

And I got these tickets threw a connection. friend of a friend works at the ticketmaster office, and can hook me up for any tickets, all season long, at 25% off the retail.

Fucking A

i can get tickets for any leafs home game

duh duh duh

they just cost both your arms and legs. :< boston bruins game at the end of october is CHEAP and i want to go :D

Wow dude. That's akin to somebody being a virgin. :D

Wow! Mario and Crosby are so tight that you'd need KY to tear them apart.

"He's easy to get along with, he's very chatty and plays a lot of games with the kids, which is good," Lemieux said. "I think he feels a lot more comfortable now that he's been able to stay for a few days."

Crosby has been spending a lot of time with Lemieux's four children, aged 8 to 12, and was playing driveway hockey with them the day he moved in.

After a few days of family dinners with Lemieux and driving to and from practice with the Penguins majority owner, Crosby feels he's reaping the benefits of being in the company of one of the best to ever play in the NHL.

"I think just being around him is going to help me," Crosby said. "I've been asking him little questions, even about things in town and where things are.

"There's not going to be a lot of surprises for me if I can ask him beforehand and see how things work. That's the main thing, just being around him and seeing how he goes about things every day."

:lol :lol :lol

I'm going to 4 Leafs/Sabres games in Buffalo this year. Can't wait for another year of the Sabres owning the Leafs. :D $17/game too, not bad.

Not bad considering most people in Buffalo are on welfare and make about $2.00/hour.

TSN says that Ronnie Francis has retired. I'd like to tip my hat to him. He is one of the most complete players I have ever seen play in the league and was underappreciated for so many years. He was an integral part of the Penguins Stanley cup runs. God I hope that Mario and Craig Patrick can lure him into Pittsburgh in some type of coaching role.

Awesome, Awesome player!

Well, the Montreal Canadiens have always been closely associated with rings after winning so many of them.

20 something players, 24 Stanley Cups...you do the maths :)

"I knew it was (Lindros) so I tried to hold back a bit, but I could have hit him harder," Kronwall said.

First the Joey Moss cup...
Next up... the Stanley Cup

Go Smytty!

I love the white gloves Joey is wearing :lol

Hmm, looks like the Pens might see a line of Recchi, Leclair and Crosby. They're apparently really clicking in practice right now. Gah, can't wait for the pre-season to begin! Only 4 days away!

That line is just for grins... There is no way that Mario is playing on a 2nd line with Pallfy and Malone..... LOL

First line should be Crosby, Lemieux and Pallfy/Recchi according to Lemieux's comments in the post-gazette.
