Just went to an LA Kings game last night where they played Colorado... My god the Kings played like shit. That was quite possibly the worst performance I had ever seen by an NHL team. Did anyone else watch that game?

I'd never pay to watch the LA Queens :(

It is so delightfully macabre to root against last year's champs, just like with Carolina last year.:D
Wow, it must suck to be a Devils fan. After winning your Cup you've had nothing but playoff lols so now you've been reduced to being a crybaby hater on people that can actually threaten for a championship.

Whoo! Go Oilers Go! Leapfrogged over the lolflames tonight!

Pisani in, Hemsky out!
Will this team ever get healthy? :(

:lol Well since the Devils are at 7 wins in a row and counting I'm pretty happy actually. Though now that you mention it I was a little let down that it took a shoot-out to beat Atlanta rather than beating them in regulation, but I'll leave the disciplining to Mr. Sutter.

As for your boys, the Ducks don't look like they're "threatening for a championship" as much as they're "on the playoff bubble". But we'll see how they do when they fly out east.

Ducks probably won't even make the playoffs this year. Short summer, trip to England, they suck, whatever the reason you want to pin on them. Doesn't change the fact that the majority of the roster has been deep in the playoffs multiple seasons while the Devils scrub out season after season.

But at least you have those regular season wins to look forward to!

To stop pitifully trying to talk trash, allow me to post a photoshop!

:lol Harry's face looks terrible.

So, today I had the option to either go to the Ducks game, or start on a final paper for school.

I chose the Ducks game. I made a mistake.

jiri hudler has 12 pts in his last 12 games with only 11:40 in icetime per game this season.

shame he is so damn small, without the speed to really make up for it.

Dem is Souray back yet? You guys need him for that PP...only the Leafs have a worse one in the league at the moment...

Souray's production was a result of Montreal's PP IMO. No way he would have repeated his stats anywhere else.

Kovalev is taking care of Souray's departure pretty good. He's our MVP by far this year, the Nashville game was a pretty good example, even though no one else decided to show up.

You don't have much to look forward to yourself my man.

Ouch.. but I mean.. They have Price to put some weight on.. But still this could pose as a problem for them..

Heres to hoping leafs end the preds eastern canada sweep tomorrow!

I thought Halak was suppose to be good.

Anyway Riley Cote is suspended for 3 games and:

The National Hockey League has reportedly put the Philadelphia Flyers on notice

Media outlets in Philadelphia today reported that commissioner Gary Bettman had warned Flyers' general manager Paul Holmgren about further incidents.

"I talked to (Bettman) today," Holmgren told the Philadelphia Daily News. "He thinks, like I do, that these are different coincidences, different situations, that have to be viewed differently, but the question was raised about ramifications if it happens again.

"So obviously we're under watch."

Has anyone found Patrick Marleau yet?

Do I need to start putting up posters with a picture and a number to call?

Who cares, we have Price and Halak, I even hope this injury is fake so Huet gets dealt for help.

The Habs need help and badly, I have no faith in this team whatsoever for the past 2 weeks, besides players like Higgins, Ple****c, Kovalev, Kostitsyn, Latendresse, Chipchura, Begin and Kostopoulos upfront, we've got nothing and the coach refuses to get help from the minors and call players like Lapierre and S. Kostitsyn up.

Koivu is just absolutely drained and proves once again he can't handle the first line center role at this point in his career and Ryder is f'ked up beyond belief so when 2 of your top line players aren't producing, what can you do...

And Brisebois/Gorges, oh boy... Yeah, let OByrne sit in the minors instead...

I hope a trade is coming or I see us in a landslide like last season...

Fucking Huet. He always gets injured. Always. He's a soild #1 when he's healthy, but I've had it with these yearly groin pulls.

At least Price gets one hell of a chance to prove himself as the teams true #1.

Groin pull my ass, he's day to day and could be back as soon as the end of the week.

TRADE TRADE TRADE

I can only dream...

Nothing's wrong with Huet besides he's supposed to have a groin pulled.

Huet is a very good goaltender but we have Price and Halak who are NHL ready and Huet is an UFA at the end of the season whom we probably won't resign because of Price so I'd rather see him traded than lose him to free agency like we did with Souray like last season, that's all.

P.S. We need a scoring winger, Ryder is broken :(

After reading a ton of comments over the last few days, one thing I have to agree with is that this team simply does not have two things, 5on5 offense and a "shutdown" system. They are below the grade on both these aspects, and it's starting to show real bad now.

If a Huet trade is in the works, then I'm all for it as long as it produces a forward who can put the puck in the net.

I still can't believe we lost to the freaking Leafs this past Saturday. Pens looked like garbage almost the entire game, until the 3rd.

Anyway, 1-0 lead against the Yotes, heading into the third. Here's hoping...

Man, the one game that gets blacked out in my area because Phoenix is considered the closest team to Albuquerque. And I miss Colby apparently owning some mofo in a fight tonight!

Glad to have Mad Max back in the lineup as well. Come on Crosby/Malkin/Sykora/Whitney... we need something from you guys now

Honestly. If we would have won on Saturday, we would be in 8th place in the conference after tonight's win. That would feel real nice to be in a playoff position after the atrocity that was November.

i guess im bias but nichol getting 5 games after hartnell only getting 2 and ohlund getting 4 is pretty silly

TemplaerDude said:
you don't suspend players based on the previous few suspensions. nichol is lucky. last crosscheck to the head got 25 games.
there's no consistency. hartnell finishes a check on a guy defenseless and on his knees, pushing his head into the boards, and gets 2 games? ohlund breaks koivu's leg with a slash and gets 4... you say you don't suspend based on other suspensions, so it's case by case by what, throwing at a dart board?

i can understand if you don't think the suspension is fair based on what happened, but saying because so and so got such and such time for a completely unrelated incident makes this suspension not make sense is just kind of dumb. there's no consistency in the numbers because every incident is different.

now i'm not saying that the suspensions are fair or the right length, but it's hard to judge a suspension like a smack to the head on a completely different precedent and like slashing a leg, just because slashing a leg was the most recent incident.

Finally Pens score on the Power Play. We are really missing Gonchar.
Definitely missing The Gonch.

They played pretty flat and overall poorly all game long, and were lucky they played Phoenix tonight instead of like, the Rangers or Senators or Red Wings or someone who would have made them pay. So many mishandles, overskates, errant passes, giveaways...ugh...thankfully the Coyotes couldn't take advantage, and did a lot of turning over themselves.

But the downside there, of course, is that it made for one hell of a boring game to watch :lol
But hey, 2 points! :D
And I miss Colby apparently owning some mofo in a fight tonight!
Colby got his ass kicked by Ballard.

Anyone watch the Stars and Blue Jackets game on Versus tonight?

That was an amazing game.. There goalie made some insane stops all throughout the 1st and 2nd, but the Stars got a goal in the 3rd to tie it up.

Went into a 5 round Shootout.. with Mike Modano, Mike Ribeiro (HELLS YEA!) and Niklas Hagman winning it for Dallas.

Amazing game!

Versus is so crap by the way.. Why in gods green earth didnt ESPN put a higher bid.. UGH! Versus announcers were horrible and during the shootout.. Modano had got it in, but the Versus scoreboard showed Columbus winning and then then suddenly they camera pans back on another skater since its not over and it went in..

They had horrible camera angles too in that shootout.

Dude why do you continue to ball-wash a soft marshmallow Frodo lookalike loser like Ribeiro when Dallas has countless other players worth tonguing their sacks instead?

B/c Ribs is amazing..

Leading the NHL in goal %!

Great trade we got with Canadiens a year or so for him. Hes performed amazing last year.. led the team in pts, and this year is riding along with Brendan Morrow for pts lead (below him by 1) and still has 3 less games played.

And he scored on the Leafs earlier this year.. that made him excel in awesomesness :lol

GO OILERS GO

Oh my. Sam Gagner with another SICK move in the SO (Oilers now 7-1 :lol)
Jussi Jokinen? More like Jussi JOKEINEN amirite?!

Since Pit****n got back from his injury he's been friggin great.

I love watching him play.

Its a really simple system actually. If you are the first player on your team to attempt to injure someone you get a longer penalty. Once your team is established as a team that uses attempts to injure the penalties go down until the NHL worries that there will be a media outcry and they temporarily bump the penalties back up. See Philadelphia.

Note though that penalties can be arbitrarily reduce by high profile GMs whining incessantly about unfair treatment.

There is no system, the NHL makes it up as they go along and the clearly believe that attempts to injure are only bad when the make the TV highlights circuit and non hockey commentators get their once yearly chance to laugh at how irrelevant the NHL continues to make itself.

Gagner isn't worthy of washing Weapon J's Finnish nutsack. Jussi is the SO King until further notice.
