Tonight Brisebois and Gorges are benched, Obyrne is called up and gets 2 assists in his first NHL game and looked freaking great.

:D :D :D

Step aside Price...Obyrne's balls are now ready for washing!

holy shit @ the kings. 6-0 over buffalo in the 2nd? also, i apologize to any canucks fans at random slurs i may or may not have yelled at vancouver fans in front of me tonight :P

I'm hitting the Jameson and then passing out...hopefully I will forget the half of the game I watched.

That move in the shootout by Letang was unbelievable.

Malone is proving me wrong lately. I used to think we was worthless. The best thing this team has done this season is waiving Recchi.

As much as I appreciate what Recchi has done during his career with the Pens, it was the right thing to do. He probably should have just retired, but I guess some desperate team will probably pick him up.

Totally agree about Malone. You can really tell that he worked hard in the off season to improve his game, and most notably his speed. He also seems a lot stronger on the puck. And while he's not a superstar, he's a good fit with Crosby.

Kipper really bit hard on the shot fake by Letang, that was some funny shit.

Yeah, and how about keeping Colby out of the lineup for so long? You can see how much he means to the chemistry of the team. Colby and Talbot are the heart of the team, regardless of talent. Those two bring some kind of intangibles to the game, and the whole team looks happier when they're out there.

Smolinski is injured and it could be bad news...

Hopefully Karma will balance things out, Smolinski signed a 2 millions contract with a NTC with the Habs as an easy way to bank in 2 millions in his last NHL season while riding things easy, well hopefully he'll ride it easy in his living room watching the Habs on T.V.

The Pens looked good pretty much all night tonight, and great in the third. Malone's making this year his best ever, hands-down, that's for sure. I like it. He'll kill penalties (with an occasional shorthanded goal, no less), help generate offensive chances, throw some hits, fight a guy, and all the while work work work. Like Talbot, you don't see Malone giving up on plays, like, ever.

Malone's biggest issue has always been his work ethic, and it looks like he's worked on that this season. Keep it up, Bugsy!

Was Talbot hurt? Ankle? I hope MAF is cool. Sabourin put up a nice performance.

Oh, and if Pens would have gotten one win and an OT-Loss in that terrible November, we'd be in 3rd place in the Eastern Conference.

WHAT A MOVE BY LETANG!!!!!!!!! Pens win in shootout. The Canada sweep is almost complete. Canucks up next lol.
Dude, everybody gets wins in Alberta.

Vancouver, on the other hand, will be warmly extending some West Coast hospitality to Mr. Crosby courtesy of Matt Cooke, Byron Ritchie, and a snarly-as-of-late Roberto Luongo, who does not believe in letting strange rubber into his net. With the IKEA line calmly blasting holes through any netminder foolish enough to stand between them and their rightful destiny, I predict a delicious dinner of Penguin Fricasee, ice cold and serving the entire Pittsburgh roster. I doubt they'll have the stomach to come back for seconds. :D

Considering the Canucks have a less than stellar home record, anything is possible. Plus they may be able to shutdown Crosby for maybe a period, but good luck trying that for a full game. Luongo has been playing really well as of late, and it will be tough-but if any team can put up points it's the Pens. Though having an injured MAF is going to be rough, Sabourin is going to have to be huge. Either way, it's going to be an awesome game. I can't wait. :D

Montreal hasn't been playing well as of late. But I'm tired of Leaf Nation thinking they have a good team this year, how quickly they forget they're still a sub-.500 team even after four straight wins. Antropov is just another "Latenstiff" or whatever you anglos call him since you lack the knowledge to spell his name. Whatever Antropov does now, he'll stop doing when he breaks his nail while figure skating with his boyfriend.

Montreal has the talent to be competing for a Stanley Cup, if not now, in the near future. Toronto's going to win their next post-season golf tournament... assuming Antropov recovers with lots of kisses and affection from his loved one.

Canucks are 6-0-1 in their last 7 home games

Overall aren't they 7-6-1 at home though? Yes, I know they have been on a tear as of late, but I doubt the pens will get "demolished" as long as Sabu is strong in net. Pens haven't been too shabby either in the last bunch of games.

:lol Is there a French equivalent to "pinche"? Because I feel weird seeing fellow anglophones being called anglo without a pinche modifying it.

WHY MUST YOU TAUNT ME
When you were abused (in this case had teams move away) you either identify with the abuser or the abusee. I obviously fall in the former category.

I <3 the Pens, but the 'Nucks are on fire and I don't think the Pens have been scoring enough goals to beat a team with Luongo in goal. But hey, stranger things have happened.

Quick quiz:

1) Where would Antropov sit in Montreal's scoring (hint: higher than #2)

2) Who has more goals Kovalev or Antropov? (hint: think Nik the trick)

I think Sabu would have got the start against Vancouver anyway regardless if MAF was hurt or not. Therrien likes to play players against their former teams. I predict Ruutu will get back in the lineup tonight as well. Tomorrows game is really huge. I won't be able to see it until Sunday Morning as it is the same time as Hatton-Mayweather.

I'd still much rather have Kovalev than Antropov. Antropov won't score for the next 5-7 games, just watch. He's just there, filling up space and looking like a dumb big Siberian ogre. No style, no finesse, no speed, just "GRRRR DURRURRR WANT PUCK DURURURR". Kovalev is skillful and awesome to watch, almost like Sasha Cohen with good looks and a hockey stick.

Yes I see your point, it's much better to have a player on the downside of their career like Kovalev instead of someone finally starting to live up to their potential.

Antropov scored the same number of goals as Kovalev did last season, in 20 fewer games -- so who goes long stretches without scoring?? :lol

Kovalev right now > Antropov at any time during his career, or future career.

Just you watch. Antropov will injure himself again.

Antropov's played well this year. Even in November, when he didn't do much in terms of getting on the score sheet, there were many times where it seemed like he was the only Leaf (along with Sundin) who was putting forth an effort. Particularly on the power play. I don't know if he'll stay healthy or keep up the play, but so far so good.

Stoll and Torres are healthy scratches tonight..

There must be a trade going down. There HAS to be..

crap
guess not..
MacTavish: "I talked to them individually about the specifics of it and obviously am displeased with the way that they've played. Nobody ever likes it and it's just part of (the game). I'm just not gonna get into the specifics; the door is open for anything right now...I'd like to think that they'll be back very quickly, though."

Kovalev has 8 goals of his 12 on the PP....Antropov 6 of 14....Antropov is much better two way player....easily...+9 versus Kovalev's -2.

Kovalev is just a powerplay guy, Kovalev has 8 goals and 6 assists...14 of his 23 points on the PP. Antropov has only 8 PP points -- so without the powerplay Antropov is up 21 to 8.

Also by what criteria is Kovalev better right now?

Kovalev 12 Goals - Antropov 14 Goals
Kovalev 11 Assists - Antropov 15 Assists

I guess the criteria rests in your brain alone.

21 to 8? I'm not an Antropov ball-washer by any means but Kovalev is obviously just a one trick pony and an overpaid one at that...only delusional Habs fans would think otherwise...

You discount the fact that Kovalev has to play with a bunch of 4 liners :p

I believe you mean Kazakhstan-ian!

Alfredsson aka krusty is the most complete player in the NHL. He has the best one-timed shot since Brett Hull.

i didn't want to come off like the canucks are going to destroy the penguins or anything, pittsburgh's been playing pretty well lately too (though sucks MAF went down). i was just defending the notion that the canucks are average at home. they absolutely sucked in october and have been amazing in november, and in my books what you've done the last 4 weeks is more important than what you've done the 4 weeks before that.

Alfie has been amazing.

Fun fact: Only two players have produced more points than Alfredsson since 2002.

Vermette's goal was :lol
