eklund says NYR, sens and the leafs are the current teams left in the running for pronger

i don't believe it though...

in NYR - Besides jagr, the NYR would have to get rid of too many players to match pronger

for the sens - they'd be bargaining their team foundation which doesn't make sense.

and the leafs would either have to trade sundin or pavel kubina + a player. Sundin wouldn't happen because the leafs continual determination to make a run for sundin and since there's only a couple years left... it doesn't make sense

All 3 teams could make a monumental risk with their prospects but it's not something that's wise.

If Eklund says that then he is headed to Florida, book it.

Muckler never ceases to amaze me...

Joe Corvo, who?, signed at 10.5m for 4 years.
What? I don't see that anywhere.

Price is a bit steep, but Corvo is a good and very underrated dman. Although some ppl think last year was an outlier career season and that without Visnovsky and the LA pp from last year he won't come close to those numbers.

I hope it's a mistake and it's gerber's salary, Vishnovsky being the PP QB will help anyone's stats.

I know some people are down on the Ottawa moves, but after losing Chara, I think they did OK.

Especailly if Gerber plays with a chip on his shoulder versus Carolina.

Haha, Arnason signed with the Avs. How many more teams can he disappoint in the last 2 years?

Flames signed Andrei Zyuzin out from Minny? Er... ok.... *scratches head*. Wonder if another dman is going to get traded?

Gerber is a beefed up Lalime. If anything, Ottawa is weaker than last season.

soundwave05 said:
Maybe so, but they didn't spend $7.5 million on Chara, and they're still a top 3 squad in the East.

Yes but they've taken a step back, any way you slice it. I think they need a major trade now.

I think more or less this is the roster Muckler will go with.

Really, they still have about as good of a chance as anyone to come out of the East. Buffalo I would rank slightly higher, but we'll see what happens with them.

They can still win the East with that roster, yes.

They may have to get some breaks against Buffalo, but against any other team, they match up pretty well.

I can't see Gerber taking them to the Cup or even the Finals for that matter. They'll do fine in the regular season but when haven't they done that?

Ottawa has gotten worser for sure with the loses of Hasek and Chara. But so have all the NW teams except Boston. I mean Buffalo did lose McKee and Numminen has the heart problem.

About Joe Corvo...

Before making his NHL debut on 14 December 2002 for the Kings, Corvo was arrested in November 2002 in Boston after he grabbed a 34-year-old woman's buttocks in a restaurant. Restaurant staff told him to leave, but Corvo returned, punched the woman and then kicked her when she fell to the ground, police said. Corvo was given a three-year suspended sentence after he pleaded guilty to assault.

Notables left..

FORWARDS: Patrik Elias, Jason Arnott, Anson Carter, Sergei Samsonov, Brendan Shanahan, Martin Straka, Bill Guerin, Mike Peca, Mike Grier, Yanic Perreault, Jan Bulis, Georges Laraque, Jarkko Ruutu

DEFENCEMEN: Jaroslav Spacek, Kim Johnsson, Brendan Witt, Ruslan Salei, Danny Markov, Filip Kuba

GOALTENDERS: Manny Legace

Morris said Domi hasn't decided if he'll try to catch on with another team. If he does, he would undoubtedly love to join a fierce rival such as the Ottawa Senators or Montreal Canadiens, but there doesn't appear to be much interest from either team.

Come on Sens or Habs, do it!:lol It would just add to the fun of watching the games....

:lol 3.5 for Mitchell? Canucks are ****ing crazy.

Hopefully they think they've spent enough money now and the Stars can scoop up Anson Carter. I WANT HIM ON THE SQUAD DAMNIT!

Looks like we'll probably resign Hedberg... :(

Dem....did you just list George Laroque as "Notable"?:lol

If Edmonton gets a good return on Pronger, I think Calgary/Edmonton/Minnesota are going to the playoffs from that division ... Vancouver/Colorado are out.

Seems like Carter is probably going to walk. You can't ask your top scorer to be your 5th highest paid player or something.

I think he would have to pay the Senators just to be on their club. It would be funny if he did sign though.

Jeremy Roenick, who will be 37 this year, has made another pitch to join either the Ottawa Senators or the Leafs.

"I don't want to go to a place where hockey is buried on page D4 of the sports section," the former Los Angeles King told Sun Media. "Toronto is the Mecca. People live and breathe the game. What player wouldn't want to be part of that?"

JR, Roberts...what's with the geezers loving Toronto?

It seemed like when Quinn was GM/Coach, Toronto was the retirement home of the NHL. Teams would ship off their old guys to Toronto for picks after they realized they were worthless. The former teams were like greedy kids putting their senile parents into a home while they rent out the parents old house.

"Well you've had a good run, but we just don't need you anymore. You'll like Toronto, they pay well and have nice friendly barbecues after they get knocked out of the playoffs. "

Hopefully JFJ doesn't plan on continuing this trend.

Ever since JR said he wanted to play in Canada I assumed he meant Toronto. Not because I think we're the Greatest Team In Canada, but because he's a total media whore and like it or not, Toronto is the biggest hockey media town. If his #1 goal is getting attention, then he's already booked his ticket here.

If we do sign JR than atleast it would be good for a laugh. JR vs. the three headed monster of Cox, Simmons and Strachan would be hilarious.

Man, why shouldn't the Habs try to land Anson Carter? We've already got Ryder who's a lot like him, but can you imagine how much ownage a line with Higgins-Arnott-Carter would do? Assuming we get Arnott of course...

Just eye balling Montreal's roster, I think they could offer Carter $3.5-$4 million easily.

Looks like Montreal is only at about $29 million in salary. You will have to resign Ryder though.

Don't forget, Sens lost Pothier too. I don't really believe too much in Gerber, too inconsistant- he can look great one game and then horribly the next. I don't see the Sens being much stronger...Boston is improving but I still see Buffalo coming out of the east followed by Montreal.

****ing christ Muckler is a senile dumb ass...

Corov 2.625m per year

Gerber 3.7m per year

I dunno, Feaster is giving him a run for his money.
Winning the cup has gone to his head. Arrogant SOB.
I'm just watching my team descend back into the depths of NHL hell.

Can't believe the Leafs tossed 5 mil a season towards Kubina. Good D, but not a 5 million dollar D.
Did these idiot GM's forget why there was a lockout? Many of these contracts are insane.

Yeah seriously, anyone but Hasek. I'd rather the Wings have Osgood and Howard all year and try and pick someone up at the trade deadline then get Hasek.
