Was briefly watching the Habs/Pens preseason game. Pierre Mcgwire was so fucking bored by the two teams he took to ballwashing the new look Leafs. :lol

So, the GAF league draft is Sunday, and I now realize I've never played in a rotisserie style league. How exactly does it work? Any tips on the draft?

Meh. You can expect about 15-25% of the teams to not show up to the draft...causing us to wait for the autodraft to timeout on each turn. And then, a couple weeks after the season starts, only 50% of the teams will be setting their lineups...

I can't this year, but if any of the VancouverGaffers are interested in setting up a $ fantasy league (like $10-20), I'd be up for that...

Pens look to be in "classic Pens" mode, of giving up leads like they were cookies. :p

And yeah, we've got a guy named Lovejoy. Really hoping he cracks the squad. We need a guy nicknamed The Reverend. Would be so badass.

I see. That's a pretty strong lineup from Calgary. Canucks also am not playing some top players like Luongo so it evens out.

I tried to listen to the broadcast on the Ducks site but it didn't work for some reason. Sharks are 2-2 in preseason.

man, i just had my fantasy pool draft with my buddies...

in our pool, goals are worth 2 pts, with assists only being worth 1 pt, so it changes the dynamic a bit

my team is absolutely stacked

however, i also have perhaps the most injury-prone team in the history of the sport. if all of my players stay healthy, i'll win by a mile, but uh... yeah, look for yourself

(keep in mind that G=2, A=1):

The Senators finally got even with Steve Downie.

Dean McAmmond might be long gone, but Downie’s cheap shot from two years ago (earning him a 20-game suspension) wasn’t forgotten last night. Chris Neil nailed Downie, a Tampa Bay Lightning winger, with 6:04 left in the third period of a 3-1 pre-season win last night in front of a packed house at the Brandt Centre.

Neil was given a charging minor and game misconduct for his hit along the boards in the dying minutes.

“I didn’t get him as good as I would like to have,” said Neil. “He drops his gloves with me and then he says, ‘Oh, I’m not fighting.’ He tried to flip me. I got him with some good ones. I wish I got him with some better ones.

“I’m not concerned at all (about supplementary discipline). I finished my check. It might have been a little late. It was a clean hit. It’s one of those things. He was just lucky he was able to get me down before I got going.”

I got the first pick overall, so I obviously took Ovechkin. I was actually thinking about taking Green, since there's such a big buffer between him and the other defensemen, but figured you just can't pass up Ovie.

There are 11 guys total in my pool, and we did a snake draft, so my next pick was #22.

You can imagine my f'n face when #21 made his pick and it wasn't Mike Green. Everyone had picked 2 forwards, so I literally jumped out of the chair laughing and took Green. Then I looked down at my list and said, "You know, I might as well take the top player in all 3 categories".

If I didn't go crazy and draft a bunch of cripples (Sullivan's injured already haha), I could've had an amazing team with that start.

edit: i just realized i have 4 oilers. eww.

Burish is one of my favorite 'Hawks. In reality, it's not a huge loss though. Very solid 4th liner. He chips in a few goals here and there, isn't afraid to play physical, and has never taken a shift off ever, but that's about the extent of his game. There are times he really picks up the rest of the team with his energy so hopefully they can make up for that.

Based on what happened last time the Pens played the Marlies, Crosby and Malkin are probably just too embarassed to make an appearance.

I cant wait for next Thursday so that I can stop reading Forza/Manics' mutual masturbation once the "small, soft, Smurfy" Habs put the Leafs down, in Toronto no less.

The real Solo would realize how utterly crap the Habs are this season. I think his little brother must have gotten his login info or something. Seriously dude, the Habs are going to be even worse than last season.

Oh, dont get me wrong, Im not expecting big things this year from my Habs, but I also think Leafs fans are getting far too excited for this season, and it will all end in tears.

Pre-season predicton: Habs finish 8, Leafs finish 9.
