Still watching Caillou. Remind me why I ever got the PVR and why I record kids shows. *sigh*. I gotta start getting the kids to bed at 6Brinbe said:When isn't this Leafs team fighting? Jesus Christ! :lol

If enough teams end up having to move, I'd like to see Milwaukee and Hartford get teams too.bonesmccoy said:I'd be happier if they moved the team to Seattle. The Emerald City should have been chosen over Phoenix, Tampa Bay, Miami, and Nashville. More to the point: Since the Sonics have left, there isn't a Fall/Winter pro-sports franchise to compete with. My guess is that if a move to Kansas City doesn't pan out, one struggling team will be relocated to the Pacific Nor'west.

says team will not move this year - possibly the whole season - might move during olympics - offering glendale $25 million even if appeals fail
watch out bettman - they're making a big push for this team
note to NHL : if you're trying to get a ruling on your side, you don't say this
bullshit. 10 games into the regular season and you guys are bouncing off the walls againAcid08 said:Sharks-Age has the self deprecation quotient filled up.
From the looks of it we'll be 3-7-0 10 games into the season.sefskillz said:bullshit. 10 games into the regular season and you guys are bouncing off the walls again

Not sure if anybody saw this ESPN.com debacle. 4 analysts talking about how to realign the league. Barry Melrose is the only one with any sense (of course, maybe I'm biased because he has the Wings moving back into the Eastern Conference where they should have been all along).
One analyst wants expansion into Europe while another wants the NHL to expand to 40 teams in smaller cities. Yes, that's right--expand.

Melrose's was the only one that made any sense up until he said Saskatoon. I know he's from around there but there's no way Saskatoon is big enough for an NHL team. :lolPlinko said:http://sports.espn.go.com/nhl/preview2009/news/story?id=4496992

I'd tolerate his shenanigans with the puck if he'd play at least a smidge of defense tonight.sefskillz said:campbell is triple shifting?
Tlusty is gonna celebrate that goal by sending a pic of his shlong to some skank in BarrieBrinbe said:Tlusty scores on the penalty shot! 2-1

Hey, I'd be all for Nashville staying and Detroit getting dropped if the Preds would just get rid of that fuckin goal song. :lolsefskillz said:if i was gonna realign i'd drop chicago, detroit and toronto. probably the rangers too

lolz? if the leafs were 1-4 you would hear fuck all. preseason records, winning or losing, matter so very little. even individual performances are hard to gauge* since you have to consider who these players are up against (often backup goalies and minor leaguers)Manics said:eYeah....if the Leafs were 1-4 in preseason instead of 4-1 all the Leaf haters would be bashing the hell out of them. "SEE THEY STILL STINK!" :lol
Preseason or not, winning is always better than losing.
Varlamov had a decent game. The 'Hawks didn't exactly put up a ton of effort anywhere but he still made some good saves.ForzaItalia said:6-2 final...how did Varlamov look?

It actually was a very good game. Really tense. I'm not really sure how the Canucks spinny goal counted considering there was absolutely no forward momentum when he actually took his shot which disqualifies the goal. Eh whatever though, preseason.aidan said:Hey, Acid08. Good game, huh?
....what? im guessing this happened right after we stopped watching (the game sucked and al bundys new show came on)Acid08 said:Kent Huskins is a fucking idiot.
Nabby, pull your shit together.
Sharks pulled the old bait and switch on the fans. Look good for two periods then give up 3 goals in 5 minutes.
Fei said:I was at the Sabres-Leafs game tonight, and man that Leafs squad was unimpressive. Keep in mind I have no idea who was and wasn't an NHLer on their team, but they were outmatched by half a Sabres team sitting their top players. I'm a little less worried about them for now. We'll see once Kessel arrives.
Still awesome to see some hockey again! Can't wait for the start of the year.
OnPoint said:How was the crowd in terms of size? I was hearing ads on the radio today for minipacks and it makes me wonder if the high sales of the previous few years are finally starting to taper off... my hope is that sales dropping will force them to put a better team together.
Fei said:Announced attendance was 11k, but that seemed a little high. The whole upper bowl was maybe 10% occupied. You've got to think missing the playoffs two years will level the sales off a bit, but for the ticks I got this year, I had to adjust my sections because of price-level sellouts.
..I can't get too upset about the team - it's not like they're being cheap. Only 3M or so in cap space available now. They'll be alright if Vanek is the stud I think he will be and Miller can stay healthy this year. They might live to regret the contracts they gave Pominville and Connolly, but the real drains are Hecht, Tallinder and Lydman in terms of productivity/$.
Hopefully we'll see some of the younger guys up this year (Gerbe, Kennedy, Myers, etc) and see what they've got. I'm still fairly confident they're a playoff team when healthy.

Wayne Gretzky has stepped down as head coach and director of hockey operations of a Phoenix Coyotes franchise that remains dogged by its unsettled ownership situation.
Gretzky made the announcement on his Web site Thursday.
"This was a difficult decision that I've thought long and hard about," Gretzky said in a statement posted on his site. "We all hoped there would be a resolution earlier this month to the Coyotes ownership situation, but the decision is taking longer than expected.
"Since both remaining bidders have made it clear that I don't fit into their future plans, I approached General Manger Don Maloney and suggested he begin looking for someone to replace me as coach. Don has worked hard and explored many options. I think he has made an excellent choice, and so now it's time for me to step aside."
