-What's the deal with the crown in the ice dungeon? I tried to return it to the rodents, but nothing happened. I'm guessing I come back later?
-In Saman, the falsely-accused thief. He told me that the money was taken by the crow, who flew over near the tree, but there's nothing over by the tree. Is this another come back later thing?
1. You can't just give the crown to them (I tried this a million times too). You have to let them steal from you in battle. (They'll always take the crown if you have it.).
2. The stolen item is near the side of Dandy's old cart.
It's closer to FF5 I'd say. Granted I haven't stumbled into anything incredibly expansive but there's a fair bit more to the sidequests than "lolz bosses"(though there are plenty of those too *shrug*)
Getting ultimate weapons owns in the psx FF's, but secret bosses are so fucking boring these days. Developers throw those in instead of actually interesting sidequests and it's aggravating. I spend the entire game fighting. Why the fuck do I want to all my secrets to revolve around more fighting? This is why Suikoden and western rpgs >>>> jrpgs in terms of sidequests. There's fighting sure, but that's not all there is.
I still don't think I understand the whole GC thing. I was just fighting
The Tank Boss on Disc 2
and he hammered away at it and didn't seem to effect the minimal damage my party was taking. Then, once it got pretty low it did a very large amount of damage, then went right back to doing very little to almost nothing. What the hell?
the guard counter only affects damage taken by your back row, so it's an awesome way of keeping you're mages from taking full damage since they are weaker yet the most important, ever notice how when you select an enemy thats in the back row there is that sort of lined, shimmering wall in front of them? Thats the guard wall in front of them

GC only protects the characters in the back row. Characters in the front always take max damage, but a high GC level will lower the damage done to characters in the back. You can see it especially well on spells that hit your whole party.
I found the bow, the celestial sphere and the pot discs, but I can't find the wheat disc. Where is wheat? Also, what does the big compass upstairs (in the past) do?

IIRC the wheat disc is in the left locked room just outside the big compass. You need to move the hour to 9 and minute to 3 (maybe the other way around) to unlock the room.

Oh my God, the Sorceress' Mansion was boring. The Black Cave was pissing me off because I kept falling through those damn holes, but I finally made it out and into the next town.
I only found some at www.lost-odyssey.net but there are few concept art, design drawings and 1 wallpaper.
There must be more. Blimblim, arent there any Fansite Kit or similar press kits from microsoft?

You need to use the spell "force". It is the only thing that kills him.
Kaim is also pretty efficient attacking them. Shadow spell also works.

Maybe it's a bit late in the thread for impressions, but here's mine anyway...
I'm about half to two-thirds of the way through disc 2, and I still have no idea if I even like this game. I like parts of it, but on the whole, I think I'm frustrated as much as I'm entertained.
In typical GAF fashion, I'll list the complaints first, since that's all anybody is going to reply to anyway.
...
That brings me to the next complaint - Load times.
The load times for battles and slow-pacing of combats dont bother me at all but i understand they may be a problem for some gamers.
Regarding cities, yep, i was also dissapointed with Numara. It was small, constrained, not many people to interact with and not many things to do. Even shenmue had much more people and things to do. And the fact that graphically is the worst by far untill now didnt left a good impression. I hope the next cities, towns get much better in that aspect.
I disagree regarding loading times in the shops etc.. because they are usually very small.

When the game deems me worthy to actually play it, there are definitely things to like. The combat is interesting and even random encounter monsters are strong enough to require thought and care when fighting them. The rings add an interesting wrinkle to combat, too - I only wish more of my characters could take advantage of them.
Yes, would have been nice to add the ring system also to some spells or some of the skills and an overdrive kind of system. Anyway i´m quite happy with that aspect of the game.

Crimson Forest question:
After I get Mack, I'm supposed to be able to use the elevators, but none of them are lit up. Did I miss something?
Theres a magic monument/rock/whatever next to the elevator you take when you finish that section and get back to the surface (east corner in the first crimson forest section). Just get close and use it, having Mack in the party will do the thing.
After the bad dude freezes everything and flew the grand staff away, I am suppose to follow him, but have to idea where to go. Check all the known destination points. Last major event I finish was ancient ruins.

I finally have enough people in my party where I have to make someone sit out the fight. How many skills does each mortal have? Right now I've switched out Jansen for Ming but I want to make sure I get all those skill achievements, which means all the mortals have to unlock all their skills.

Don't worry too much about it. Because of the leveling system, you can easily bring up party members who were left behind to your current level. I was a bit torn as well at first, and continually swapped my entire back row, keeping only Kaim and Seth in front. In a traditional RPG, those two would have been way out in front level wise. In Lost Odyssey however, they are only a level ahead at any given time.

Yeah, I definitely appreciate the level cap in that respect. Anyone know how many skills the mortals cap out at? Just curious as to how far these dudes have to go before they are useless to me.

One thing I don't get is how you guys plan on having high level white/black magic if you don't use Mack & Cooke?
Now that my immortals have 25 slots each using the mortals (especially on the front line) gets a bit annoying, but before that they weren't underpowered at all.

My inmortals have only 7 each, except for Sarah, recently joined which only has 3, as i run out of slot seeds. I suppose there´ll be plenty of them before/through black cave.

You always get a ring that does the same stuff a bit alter in the game. Ming was able to do Level 8 white/black magic before Cooke and Jansen and they were most of the time in my party.

Hay Blim, do you know how many skills each mortal ultimately ends up with?
you want the pointy thingy to point to the right, which should be the pot. There's a plate in the room on the left, as previously said.
Not sure if that is the one ur needing, as i dont remember where i found which plate. If u already scavenged through the 2 rooms upstairs,
did you get the plate from the left aisle, in the present? (that long corridor with a mirror at the end, and 3 doors leading to nowhere on ur left)
I got a plate from opening those three doors. Each time u open a door, u get a fight. A shiny item to pick up appeared on the floor after i was done with the third one. Or maybe u only need to open the middle door (that's the one i tried last).
Hmm I'm 70 hours in, with maxed out mortals, and I never got a black/white ring over lv6.
I gave up the linear storyline as soon as everything opened up on disc 4. So that might be why.
Someone earlier talked about a slot +3. Where is that one?
Did anyone besides me never go to khent? I thought but I can't be sure that you where able to go to Khent just before Goatzha. But after the incident its gone.
Oh and I have 95 seeds, anyone gotten more and is the total tally 100?
Also anyone know if its possible to miss achievements? Like did you get one for not getting hit while escaping limestone cave?
Just got to Numara, been kind of busy and haven't had much time to play... but one thing I've noticed is occasionally in battles and cinemas, music will stop playing (all SFX and voices will continue playing). This is really jarring... has anybody had this problem?
Also I noticed when playing Eternal Sonata, if I backtracked after beating a boss, the game will crash on me...
Could this be a problem with my 360? Maybe a problem with its cache or something?
