There are other things making me feel like it was rushed.

Graphical hitches abound, the end game side quests are plentiful but very unpolished. Monsters start to repeat near the end.

Khent city actualy disapears for no reason after some events in the game. You don't see or hear about it's destruction, it's just not there anymore...

Shit like that, it's a really solid title and I enjoyed it alot but I wish they had 6 more months to make it shine. That's the difference between good and great.

Ahh well what graphical glitches have you noticed? I haven't tended to notice too much but the sluggish framerate at times but I really feel thats a Unreal Engine issue. Seems most developers who use it has framerate issues :(

I think Sarah is worth using just because her massive mana pool and the ability to regenerate mana whenever you use "Defend".

It stutters all the time and the loading can be really off putting especialy because it breaks up the flow of the cutscenes alot. I don't understand why they decided it was a good idea to show the character portraits and stats while the game is loading.

It completely takes me out of it, I saw Sed's portrait 3 times in the ending...that's just completely lame.

It's definitely UE3 issues but it could have been greatly remedied if the team had more time i'm sure. There was this post-mortem article on gamasutra recently that was extremely interesting. Lots of UE3 issues talk.

Oh well, the game is still worth playing and I still enjoyed it a great deal. Just a frustrating case because it could have been so much better with just a little tinkering.

I agree that the stuttering is very detrimental to the game. It does somewhat take you out and I wish it could have been ironed out as well. I will have to take the time to check out the issue at gamasutra when I have time. UE3 just seems to be having more and more issues. *sigh*

Well I'm still enjoying the game and I'm on the 3rd disc :)

What the hell? Does saving and reloading restore HPs and MPs!?

When I saved and shut off last night, my guys were limping...

Just going into the town restores your HP and MP. The only reason you need an in is if you want to watch 1000 year dream stories.

Weird, about the healing. I mean, I was still in the "dungeon", I hadn't retreated back out to town yet. They should have just gone all out and made save spots auto-heal you, without the load requirement.

And as for the dreams, I have um... 7, I think, unlocked, and only the first happened at an Inn. The rest of them were waking dreams, I guess you could say.

That only happens if it's taking too long to load. Just like in BD if it's taking to long to load it showed a potrait of the character.

Here is an example.

If I move to another place on the world map and let it show the dots on the map and little area preview it then loads for a few seconds and I'm the area

If I press a button to skip the overworld animation it just takes longer to load and instead of a black screen they show a character portrait while you wait.

I meant if you want to re-watch ones you already have.

I'm trying to find some hooded man in Low Town. Where did he go? D:

He is in the apartments building (I think thats what its called). If you did any exploring, remember the area that had an elevator and you could pick to go to level 7,9, or 10.

Understood. They're also viewable from the title screen, no?

I was concerned when the game didn't give me my 3-perfects-in-a-row achievement, since technically it spanned two battles.

But then once I won that second battle, it was in fact awarded. Cool.

I think the skill/accessory you get from the preorder bonus is insanely overpowered. Kaim's half-way to mastering the skill (and then I'll give the accessory to Seth for her to learn it), and he guards against 4/5 attacks, it seems. Insanity.

I know that, it just so happens that in this game it nearly ALWAYS takes too long to load! :lol

Especialy in between cutscenes, I end up seeing that screen everytime. They should have went for something more elegant or even something the user can interact with while the thing is loading.

The whole thing just lacks polish.

Sometimes it wont kick in at all during battle though. Plus its just for melee attacks so its not too much of an ez-mode item.

Also jeez... the "Bright Rain" dream was just messed up...

74:13, the end.
I really liked the ending, a bit cheesy as expected, but still a beautiful ending.
The last dungeon was awesome in terms of graphics and technically, they really really pushed UE3 with that one.
Overall I totally enjoyed this game, I'll recommend it to anyone with even a small curiosity about jRPGs. It would have been almost perfect (minus lots of nitpickings) if they had included a way to remove the random encounters. Considering they take some time to load, losing that time in a lvl 30 cap dungeon when your characters are lvl 70 is just plain annoying and prevented me from doing every single sidequests where I had to go back to some of them.
If you still are on the fence with this game, BUY IT NOW!

Also I think this is one of the first JRPG's to touch on racisim in a more realistic way (to show how stupid it is, etc.) instead of the standard "Humans dont like Deimos/Beastmen/whatever for dumb/unfounded reasons".

Btw one thing I found quite funny is that the very first picture we got for a Mistwalker game (back when the game names hadn't even been announced) ended up being almost at the very ending of Lost Odyssey.

Yes there is. It's in the back room of the item shop. You need to talk to the art studio dude to get access to it.

Thanks!

edit: He just says something about Crystal Fragments...

Not digging the Mansion at all.

Do I need to add Ming to my party? Kaim is the only one who can inflict physical damage.

Eh? If you mean just for the mansion, it depends on what rings you have equipped usually. Do you have the skills/accessories equipped to see monster type/element?

I dont think its the art studio guy...it was someone that gave you a password to tell the guy in the back of the store. Cant remember the exact details though.

Does anyone know if there's still a way you can purchase or find
Shieldus and Barricadus
at all during Disc 4? Those are the only two spells I'm missing, and it sucks that I can't find them! Not even the auction house has them up for grabs.

That's weird, I think I just bought them on the boat on Disc 2.

The auction house normally puts items up for bidding from areas you can no longer access; but since those two spells aren't up for grabs at all, I figure there's still a place where you can buy them. The problem is I just can't find a shop that sells them :(

If you like JRPGs, do it.

This is fast becoming one of my favorite JRPGs, and I'm still just on disc 1.

Hell yes I do. +1 sales for LO at 10am tomorrow then. Thanks.

Make sure your fighters use Magic Rings and have your spell casters use Composite Magic or Force (black magic). It should take care of the monsters you run into inside the Sorceress' Mansion.

So true.

IT SEEMS LIKE I'M MISSING A FUCK LOAD OF THOUSAND YEARS OF DREAMS STORIES! Is there a guide to where to get them?

How many are there? I'm in the beginning, still on my way to Grand Staff, and I have 8.

31. You should have about about 2/3rds of them when you start disc 4. If you miss any, you can always go back and get them then.

Oh man this game makes you fall in love with items and weapons so hard.

Thats what a JRPG should do...no wait, ANY RPG should do that. Weapon and Armor diversity (both in looks and types) should be a must have in any RPG. And with the technology they have these days, it should be no excuse not to have it (unless the characters have some sort of signature armor/clothes to represent them).
