31. You should have about about 2/3rds of them when you start disc 4. If you miss any, you can always go back and get them then.

I have:
01. Hanna's Departure
02. A Hero's Return
03. White Flowers
04. In the Mind of a Captive
05. A mother Comes Home
06. Little Liar
07. The Upstreamers
32. Samii the Storyteller

So, 32, then. I think that last one was from the preorder bonus, so maybe it's just 31 in the regular game, without DLC.

Well, I'm 7 hours into the game, and still in the Ipsilon Mountains! Hahahah.

I'm done grinding. Now I'll go and fight that bird boss.

I didn't know if I would enjoy it as much as I enjoyed Mass Effect, but at this point I would be hard pressed to decide between the two. There are so many battle customization options, and the moving storyline has never been done better than in Lost Odyssey.

I felt the same way. I really didnt know that any RPG on 360 could rival Mass Effect anytime soon. (for me personally of course) I am now halfway through DISC 2 and am still SO much more excited about LO then ME. ( AND I LOVE ME SOME MASS EFFECT)

Based on reviewers and previewers impressions this game, LO was VERY low on my radar. So when I picked it up and started playing, even within the first 15 minutes it began to just exeed my expectations in every way. Within about 10 hours i knew i that i had something really special....

Ok, who said that this game didn't have any palette swapped monsters?

I'm pretty damn sure that the Cliffhangers and Man Eaters share the same exact model...

Yeah, the reviewers slept hard on this one. Then again, in the 1up Show made the game sound amazing, aside from Shane's battle loading time comments (which I thought were exaggerated.)

On disc 1, just went through the
funeral
. Wow that was really an emotional part. The director kind of creeped me out though, he reminded me of Baron Semidi from the James Bond movies.

Word on the street is the review build had considerably longer loading times than the retail build. Frankly, if I was a reviewer, and every battle in this game took 15+ seconds to load, I'd probably dock it points for that as well. There's alot of battles. Most of the reviews said the charachters were great, which is spot-on.

Make sure your fighters use Magic Rings and have your spell casters use Composite Magic or Force (black magic). It should take care of the monsters you run into inside the Sorceress' Mansion.

I'll try composite and force. Thanks.

I just started playing it(had to wait-RROD). Pretty amazing music. Is it me or does the game have one of the best RPG beginnings?

This may keep me from playing DMC4.

So true. Except for me it was Amazon! They're Neutral Good, at least. EB/GS are Chaotic Evil!

Wow, were you level grinding for like 3 hours?...

Nay, skills. Making sure Seth and Kaim both mastered the Weapon Guard 2 skill from the preorder bonus accessory. Required 100 SP... each. Also, I wanted them to master the skills afforded by all of the other accessories I had acquired by then (another 5 or 6 skills each), as well as all of Jansen's skills, of which he had some 5 or 6 by that point!

Lots of SP grinding. And yeah, levels came with that. I think all three characters were level 16 by the time I entered the Construction Yards... my stopping point for the night, and probably for the weekend, sadly.

Edit - I really wanted both Seth and Kaim equipped with that Weapon Guard 2 skill, leaving the actual accessory free for Jansen, who thus gained the Weapon Guard 2 skill by proxy, even if he couldn't master it like the immortals can!

Yeah, the beginning is the Bomb.

The beginning was interesting and a great set up, but my experience was somewhat of a drag because it just took too damn long to get to the action. The combat in the Wohl Highlands failed to satisfy, and since I encountered fully 7 Dreams before leaving Uhra, I felt like the first couple of hours were packed too tightly with dialog and narrative.

That's part of the reason why I spent so much time just fighting and grinding in the mountains.

Yeah, I know I could have saved the Dreams for later, but they make for EXCELLENT reads. I just think they could have handled the pacing in the beginning a little better. Still, it was an exciting beginning, no doubt.

Wait till you find a attack absorb accessory.'

Also: Hell yeah TRAIN BATTLEZ!! I havent had one of those since Skies of Arcadia. I dunno why, but its just awesome when you have to fight atop something speeding really fast.

(Disk 3 spoilers?)Question:
What the hell am I supposed to do with the monkey's crown? I went back, fought them and got my shit back but then nothing.

I think I might be coming towards the end of the first disk, but I have what might be a stupid question. Am I going to be in trouble later on in the game if I am having trouble fighting bosses at this point? I've been struggling with every boss and getting game over multiple times, only to beat them by the skin of my teeth. I'm not sure if I should waste a few hours grinding to get my levels up.

Guys, I'm stuck in Gohtsa lower city and I have no idea how to obtain the pass needed to go to other parts of the town. Any pointers?

You shouldnt. After you get more party members, skills, and rings, things start to even out abit.

Yeah just
take the lift to the train station, try to walk through and you should get a cutscene. After that head back down the left and start running towards the north end of the platform. After that you should be on your way to getting what you need.

Also funny, I just passed that point in the game about an hour or so ago as well.

Grinded for a while on disc 4 today, in
the cave that leads to Gongora's lab, where you encounter 5 of those "experiment 42" things or whatever at a time
. Crazy xp and sp payoffs there, until you get to about level 50.

Sed's skills are ridiculous. And combining Slot +3 and Slot +5 just boggles the mind. :D

Does anyone know if there's still a way you can purchase or find
Shieldus and Barricadus
at all during Disc 4? Those are the only two spells I'm missing, and it sucks that I can't find them! Not even the auction house has them up for grabs.

Sorry. As far as I know, the train station (I think? Or somewhere else in Gohtza) in disc 3 is the last opportunity to buy them. Ever. They do not exist as treasures anywhere in the game, unfortunately.

Everyone else, buy 'em while you can!

Cool I made sure to get em then. Heh one thing I always make sure to do is check all stores before going anywhere.

Holy sh... when does the +10 show up?

It shows up when
you defeat the Holy Beast in Numara Atoll. It's a sidequest! The accessory you get is called 1000 Year Dream!

Just finished the game right now. Man...that final battle music sooooo sounds like
Dancing Mad
!

guys i need help. sorry i dont want to look through a gajillion pages.

anyways, i just beat the part where the queen lets you go. then i joined that gang with those little kids by finding the balloon, doll, and boat. so then i leave and go to the enchanted forest or whatever its called and now i dont know wtf to do. the forest is just this small loop, then i see the blue door thingie but i can't get past the knocked down tree. what do i do?

Need to go to the city of ruins in Numara and talk to a pair of kids at a garden, just keep running past the 3 kids that gave you that quest and take a left at the harbor in the city and keep going.

Of course it does. Gongora is like Kefka lite. All the evil, but with half the sense of humor.

Wait...after listening to the last boss music again, early on it does seem to have the same background base line as Dancing Mad, or at least similar.

one more go at this question... is the strategy guide worth the purchase?

I think it is. It has a few errors, but it is set up in a very nice way and contains all the info you could want on the game.

Seems like it takes a lot less time in this game to do all the side stuff than it normally does. I'm at like 56 hours and I'm like level 65 with most of my characters and I've done a few of the endgame dungeons. The Holy Beast went down in 2 turns :D

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
I am not enjoying this game guys. I am trying really hard. I even have the strategy guide for maximum coverage of all the possible quests and items, but the game is too damn linear to me. I am in Numara already. When does it get good? I generally hate JRPG's, but I decided to be open minded about this one and shit... it ain't working. I even got a 4 DVD case which is black and makes my box look, more elegant than the PAL version. I will give this game a go, during the next week, but if things don't start getting better, then I might stop playing it, which is sad given the fact I waited ages for this game. I will not ebay it though since I am too lazy, but if somebody wants the game in the 4 DVD case along with the guide, and its willing to offer good money, I might bite.

PS: I am not trashing the game at all. It's just that apparently I cannot stand JRPGs. I am trying though. Also, the only thing I am enjoying about this game is Jansen. I want to finish the game only because of him.

Finish the game today. Clocked in at 85 hours. Probably could have finish it at around 50 hours, but was trying to get all the side stuff. Probably a big mistake since the last few areas where a joke for my high characters. Anyway, it was an awesome ride it lasted. Already, missing playing it. Hope, LO 2 will continue with the same immortals.

It gets good at the end of Disc 1 and picks up then falls during Disc 4, but that's mostly because Disc 4 turns into one huge sidequest should you choose to do most of them (recommend you do btw!). The linearity is expected given the nature of the game, but don't let that deter you from seeing it through to the end. Lots of fun, interesting, and intense battles lie ahead of you with plenty more of Jansen's super awesome one liners.

Trust me. It gets good. You just have to deal with the pacing; but once you realize it's picking up, you'll more than likely want to see the game to its climax.
