Lost Odyssey sequels were said to be in the works back 2008...still hoping that we see another one soon. =)

Best music in an RPG ever. Don't know why they dressed that girl (can't remember her name) in a prostitute outfit though, she was like 11 years old.

Please oh please oh please!!!

Haha! I thought that all the time. Cooke's outfit was so inappropriate, but I have to say... Mack and Cooke are probably the best kid characters ever in an rpg. They were really cute without being annoying, and they were badass if you leveled them up properly. And yeah, Nobuo's music for Lost Odyssey was the bomb. I'm curious to see what he comes up with for "The Last Story." I'm still really upset it is a Wii title, though. Gonna feel like a step back presentation wise.

Question: is this considered to be the best turn based JRPG on the 360?

I'd say this and Blue Dragon (on hard mode) are a close tie. Lost Odyssey has the better story, but Blue Dragon has solid art, a great soundtrack, and a really fun battle system. Just use the Japanese voices for Blue Dragon.

I know people love Eternal Sonata and Tales of Vesperia as well.

Just a quick bumpola for a Q i couldn't seem to find in the manual. What does the Automatic Back row setting in options do? I have just started up with LO (having remembered i had it from the FFX111 vs LO thread) and don't know whether to have it on or off?

Dungeon Pack: Seeker of the Deep! DLC is on sale for only 80 points ($1).

XBL Link

I just picked it up myself, looking forward to playing it when I get a chance to go back to LO. Buy buy buy!

Man, I thought this game was great, except the story which had its potential squandered. I was on disc 4 finishing up the achievements/secrets and just needed to go to the final area and my damn HDD fails taking my save with it. Now ill never finish it :(

Almost done with this game. I can beat it now but, I can't stop myself from trying to do EVERYTHING in the game. I spent so many hours lookin for the last Seed got it though.

I could not believe how awesome those Dreams were too. Tryin to get the Immortals skills maxed. So tempted to beat it but then I will never come back. Got the DLC for 80 pts great deal!

I am currently on Disc 2, at City of Saman (I have yet to go to the experimental staff).

1. For how many turns does Cover/Covera/Coverus last (with the 0 damage)?

2. Is the only difference between cover/covera/coverus the strength of the attack it can absorb?

3. Does buying a staff with more "Attack" power yield any extra damage for magic or does the difference in power only come into play when used as a direct "attack"?

4. With regards to DLC, "Seeker of the deep" (now available for 80MS points as opposed to 400), can it be visited before finishing the game's main storyline?

5. What is good place to level up/grind (location only, please refrain from story spoiler) once the characters are past level 50 (is temple of enlightenment a good place)?

Gongora’s Secret Lab is a good place to level from like level 45 to 55. Then Temple of Enlightenment is the place to level after 55. The best place to gain SP is Numara Atoll where beating one silver Kelolon will net you 8 SP per battle.

Sorry I can't answer the other questions ,because I honestly don't remember.

This is next up on my plated after Operation Darkness.

Although I have to say, having had to submerge disc 4 in boiled water to get it to work isn't really a good first impression...

Huh, I accidentally the whole disc 1 :lol 4:06 in one sitting, with a couple of hours on youtube (so I won't miss anything for *that* achievement).

Game complete! Around 28 hours to beat all the discs (and get Treasure Trove, which was the whole point). Disc 4 was as long as the first 3 combined :O No hyperbole. My final time is just over 35 hours to get the full 1100 points. Had to grind my way up to around lvl 93 to stand a chance against the dlc boss :S Pretty funny twist there as well :lol

Great game :) Not a whole lot to actually DO with all the skills you spend hours upon hours learning but still. Overall, I've probably played this game for around 200 hours (more than Oblivion which took 170 to get 1000 points in o_O). Time well spent. Definitely got my money's worth :lol

Wait what ? 28 hours ? On new game + right ?
Can't beat the game under 30 hours on the first playthough...

Yeah ng+, skipped all cutscenes (that could be skipped) so the first three discs took 4+ hours each (I still OCD'd over getting all available skills), with the help of a youtube guide for all hidden items. I probably spent 10 hours speeding through my youtube clips too. All for 120 points :lol so my Immortals started at level 50 and when I was ready to kill the final boss, 4 discs later, they were around 58. Overleveled much?

The dreams were definitely the highlight for me. Everything else was pretty standard fare; not too great, but not bad either. But the one thing I will always remember about LO was the dream sequences.

I just started this game over llike 2 days ago. My first play through I put 103 hours into it and got everyone to 99. I think the best part of the game was doing each characters special sidequests. I'm going for the all treasures achievement now.

If you're okay with guides, I used this one:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2KhIr-Dlcbc&feature=related
This is part 03 (where the real game starts) of about 180 clips. I followed the guide exactly and got the achievement in the very same spot as the guide (part 148 I think).
The guy used to write all kinds of Final Fantasy guides for gamefaqs, and he's now a moderator there o_O)

Ill will check it out tonight when I play again. I just hit disk 2. I'm only missing 6 achievements. Excluding the DLC ones.

Enjoying the game but I wish it didn't cap your level. I'm terrible, I need to grind. Stuck at the worm boss at Grand Staff.

Love the dream sequences, very emotional. Great writing which is rare for video games.

You need to find an accessory that gives immunity to his super attack. Paralysis maybe? It should be in one of the areas you just went through to get to the boss. The first two bosses are by far the hardest story bosses in the entire game. Most of the game will be an absolute cakewalk after the boss you're on. Someone must've tripped on the difficulty slider before shipping :D

Is Lost Odyssey the only RPG on xbox 360 that doesn't revolve around 13 year old kids that must save the world? I really don't play RPGs anymore. I use to play them a lot as a kid, it is such an immature genre though. Which is why i really enjoyed Lost Odyssey.

Final Fantasy XIII? Star Ocean The Last Hope? Infinite Undiscovery? The Last Remnant?
Blue Dragon's protagonist may be a kid, but the game is darn awesome.

Check this thread for overall recommendations; or the summary from that thread:

I saw this game for teh very cheap yesterday, didn't know if I should finally buy it.. I am somewhat curious about the game, even though it seems to be a game that is all but forgotten now, which is a shame!

I get that LO is old school, but people are so mixed on the story it seems. Some say it's great, others say it's crap:/

Is it better or worse than ToV or FFXIII or Fable 2?

Worse than ToV, can't speak for FFXIII but I heard a lot of people preferred LO to it and I like it a lot more than Fable II, but that's quite a different game.

Its basically like an HD old school jrpg in the same vein of the psone final fantasies.

It doesnt look as good as something like FF 13, and its not as fast paced and quick loading like that game is, but its more open ended in ways and offers more sidequests and towns and such.

Well I can get through JRPGs if the story is compelling and characters interesting.

That's why I am trying to figure out, if I should go with ToV, LO or FFXIII mainly! I've played DAO, ME/ME2, Fallout 3, Borderlands, Bioshock on PC...

I'm going to stay away from Blue Dragon and Star Ocean, because I heard so much bad things about the plot in those games. But the graphics are excellent!

Worse than FFXIII, the story is shit, the characters are shit (well Jansen is ok), the dreams histories are nice, but dissapointing since they don't really fit in the actual game world, is like watching two different worlds and characters.

It's a decent RPG, but IMO FFXIII beats it in almost all of the areas.

I can't speak for TOV or Fable II.

Blue Dragon it's a very good game, the plot is really secondary in this game, and the battle system is really fun, best 3D world map of the gen, and graphically it's a beautiful game even if it's feels a bit outdated.

Star Ocean has a very fun battle system, but yes the plot if awful, and I mean AWFUL, there's some really fun cutscenes though.

Ummmm, Blue Dragon is a great game. It's $10 used now. Also get Vesperia first, its a better game but it costs a lot more. Don't rule Lost Odyssey out though, like Blue Dragon it's really cheap and you should buy it.

FF13 beating anything is laughable. Lost Odyssey's a great game if you're into JRPGs. I think if you're one of the people who doesn't mind going back to play older PS1 or early PS2 RPGs, you'd definitely like it. It's got not-so-old school gameplay with familiar JRPG story tropes and decent dialogue.

I do like Blue Dragon more, but not because of the narrative. Honestly, if all you're looking for is compelling plot and good characters, JRPGs aren't where you should be looking these days.

FFXIII:

- Better character and world design.
- Better plot.
- Better chracters.
- Better graphics.
- Better OST.
- Better Battle System.
- Better growth character system.
- No Random encounters.

LO:

- um...ah...Dream Sequences.
- Better dungeon design.
- ....ok, let me think.....um....Titties with veins?.

LO battle system is slow, awfully SLOW not challenging and basically is not very fun, with 2 basic strategies you can win most battles. Ability system is nice, but you can make overpowered characters very easily and basically renders mortal characters useless, so you end the game using the same 4 characters + 1 extra.

Some dungeons are very well designed, but you have to wait until 3-4 DVD to found them, (it's true that the 2 last ones are a bit annoying).

The plot is shit, FFXIII may not be much better but at least they created an interesting world around it, Dream Sequences are nice, actually it's the best part of the game, but then again, they feel like it's telling about a different world and main character that actually spouts a more than 2 words unlike his "in-game" version.

Don't get me wrong is a decent RPG, but it's the worst RPG I played this gen alongside SO4.

Lost Odyssey is awesome. Love the story. And I didn't even finish the game (I'm on the second disc).

Wish there was a English book with all the tales :(

Hey you Lost Odyssey experts, I got a question.
I got 3 dreams so far but there are spaces in between them in the list. Is this normal or this indicates there are dreams I could have found but didn't?

And by the way, I think this game is great so far. Best RPG I played this gen and best since FF9. This game is more Final Fantasy than anything Squaresoft used that name for in the past 10 years. Amazing.

Theres like 5 or 6 in Uhra alone

I got 1, 3 and 6.

I realise there are some that were a bit trickier, I need to go re-talk to everyone in Uhra (well, will probably check at a list of something).

LO is better than FF13 in every aspect except graphics. I like the music in FF13 but LO music is just awesome.

LO and Blue Dragon are the only RPGs this gen that I bothered getting 100% achievement on.
