Who knows? VHS has about the same resolution as the 5G iPod's screen (320x240), so that's all it might be. And if the reports of 1hr of video = 5 albums (let's say 200MB), then it's likely only 320x240 since 1hr of medium quality XViD at 640x480 is usually double of that.

Yeah, basically it'd be an almost lossless, perfectly tracked VHS feed.

Say they got HBO onboard though. You could get a whole Curb Your Enthusiasm season for $20.

26 is a pretty high episode count for a season.

Also, they could have a thing where you can buy a whole season for less then buying each individual episode. Exactly like songs and albums.

Ignore the 26 episodes - been watching way too much anime lately.

Boo... live performance. If the band isn't the "magic firmware video unlocking software engineers and their kinetic electronic distribution" i really don't give a shit

Edit: Dude with a trumpet

You know, Apple would likely make a killing with a Cartoon Network and/or Adult Swim deal.

I think it's just a matter of time before almost everyone jumps on board.

You'd think, but with Time Warner pushing their own on-demand services (HBO, Gametap (which includes Space Ghost and overlaps the CN/AS segment)), I doubt we'll see it anytime soon.

this is what hollywood has been waiting for. all it will take is for tv show sales to go through the roof and you will see it grow exponentially.

Gametap is in a different division (mine) and the studios have the ability to sign content deals with whomever they want. I'll just say, expect TWX to be on this.... soon :)

How the hell would you watch anything on the Nano screen?

It's so damn tiny.

I was hoping for a much bigger screen than 2.5 inches. That's smaller than a freaking $80 Game Boy Advance.

WTF Apple. I don't see how that's acceptable at all. I really hope Sony is coming out with a HDD PSP soon.

!

I didn't know that--funny tho, because I just finished interviewing Rick Sanchez a few minutes ago. :lol

How easy would it be to turn the iMac into a DVR.

Getting easier at each annoucement. You can already do it... but it takes some work.

As for people wanting to unlock the Nano - if Apple doesn't do it, look for the iPodLinux folks to do it in pretty short order since they've already had the ability to play video on the iPod for some time.

LOL, Wynton Marsalis is just a a "dude with a trumpet"? :lol

Hard to resist that new iPod, even though my Rio Karma is still working just fine. I better avoid going to the Apple Store for a few weeks. :lol

It'll be interesting to see how quickly the other networks jump on the bandwagon and start offering up content. Sure, BitTorrent is cheaper, but this is legal and downloads are going to be a hell of a lot faster!

So there is no Airport Express AV? It's just the Front Row thing that you need the new iMac for?? Why can't I get Front Row for my Powerbook?

so many questions right now.

One thing I want to ask... can we put our OWN things on it, ala PSP? I was going to buy a PSP for Family Guy on the go, but I will buy this now if I can use it instead!

There is no drag and drop functionality with the Videos section,

oddly enough it added a random file from my HDD (Montreal - Mitch Hedburg)... looks like it's organized on a big black background with preview logos. Double click and it opens a new window to play the video. Straightforward, integrated with the new search bar.

EDIT: You can seemingly drag any iTunes friendly shit right onto your Library in fact. Just added a random .Mov from my Canon

The iMac comes with it's own remote.

he mentioned home videos in the keynote, so yes there is likely a way to take your own content and put it on there.
