Official Phil Harrison Keynote @ GDC Thread.

Yup.

What happened was once, a long time ago, he made a disparaging comment about a junior member's comments based on the fact that he was a junior member. A passing mod saw this and cursed him to be a junior member permanently, or until such time as someone else did the same to him, at which time the curse would pass on.

OK as a completely new guy that is ****ing hilarious.

Can someone tell me what HOME is and is it free? PS3 Live?

You'll just have to wait like the rest of us.

Sony's firmware updates have more to do with LIVE than Home does. Cross-game chat/msg, etc..

HOME is a completely different beast entirely and I bumped the original RUMOR thread so go check that out.

Huh? The footage "leaked" last year was not from behind closed doors stuff.

I'm bored, I thought the footage with the a camera panning around still models of the dragons was massive secret footage sneaked out under someones hat?

Wollan said:
Where did he say it?

Edit: Garnett will probably be very quiet about the whole thing or slightly unimpressed no matter what it is.

Garnett: "It's rather dissapointing, your HOME probably could have been twice as big if the RAM in the PS3 didn't suck as much."

Wasn't this Little Big Planet thing something they talked about last E3? A huge resource of stuff, maps and such, that could be used in game development?

So do you think GAF will set a record for number of online users today? The highest was 5354 on the day of the Kutaragi keynote at TGS 06.

We're sitting at about 2300 right now and a normal day is about 1600.

NYtimes says the HOME is out in the Fall....

http://www.nytimes.com/2007/03/07/a...l?_r=2&ref=technology&oref=slogin&oref=slogin

The centerpiece, a new service called PlayStation Home, is to become available to consumers in the fall, said senior game industry executives, who requested anonymity because they were not authorized to discuss the plans. PlayStation Home is meant to build on and surpass somewhat similar offerings from Sony’s competitors Microsoft and Nintendo by allowing users to create persisting online identities that record players’ achievements in different games. As players progress through a game, they will unlock various virtual prizes that they can then show off to friends and rivals, the executives said.

Right, I'm sure there is nothing in the pipeline. Yea, right.

MS has enough money and enough developers that if there isn't something in the pipeline, there will be after today. ;)

There will guns from MS.. Alan Wake, Ninja Gaiden 2, Fable 2, Cry On, new Teasure shooter, Banjo 3, etc..

Reason I say Sony should win 2008 is because they have tons of software on deck.

Edit: not gonna post about that anymore in this thread.

Really? Interesting to hear the numbers. With all this talk of HOME and possibly Killzone, I'm going to say we'll beat that number and go for 6000.

*sigh* I love GAF.

That is all.

So wait ... sorry if this has been covered (i just woke up) but did Sony show Killzone 2 behind closed doors?

And we can't see it til July? WTF

A heady mix of Eurogamer, whatever Luke and co. are doing at 1up and the always lovely GAF.

LOVE THAT GAF.

That is all.

I think that Phil will talk about:

Killzone 2

He won't, according to people at the media briefing last night.

And yes JB1981, they showed Killzone last night, and yes, apparently we won't see it until E3.

Somebody should edit the first post with a summary-to-date :p

Yep that's true. That's the way it is.

I'm sure there will be about 38 people in this thread copy and pasting the exact same updates, so I'll just check this thread.

Well maybe it's better that way, esp. if the game doesnt look good. (not even comparing to the CG but compared to the games already out on the market)
