reds started late tonight due to rain so i'm going to finish watching the game and head to bed. hopefully we can play one tomorrow.

As of right now we are filled out but we haven't officially started yet, we're waiting on rosters

If someone drops between now and then we'll let you know is that cool?

Also Bacon, sorry I keep forgetting to send invites. Terrible commissioner. I will do it tonight and shoot you a PM when I do.

Not sure if it's been stated or not, but just to be clear, keep in mind that we always try to run a sim style league. And while I find that MLB the show is always the most 'cheese' proof game of the bunch, people always seem to find a way to ruin it. Please don't be a dick to your opponent. We're all bros here and the reason we join is to not have to put up with that stuff.

I'm the frontrunner for last place status, no question.

I can pitch decently, but can't hit for crap. I've been trying out All Star since that's what we're doing in the league. The speed of pitches combined with my lack of self control leaves me feeling pretty helpless at the plate. I swap down to Veteran and I'm good to go. It's going to be a rough season.

You'll get better as time goes along, it just takes practice

In case you haven't already, try to really get to know the opposing pitcher's repertoire before your game and try to think about what people will like to throw in situations so that you aren't seeing the pitch and reacting at the same time. and a really important thing is to stare at the pitcher's hand as he is releasing the ball---a lot of times, the initial release point/trajectory can be very telling for what pitch he'll throw and the location

so for instance if I'm playing someone who typically throws a curve ball in a 2-1 count (because the count is in your favor and people often won't give you easy pitches there) I will watch his hand---if the release is high and I anticipated curveball then I'll wait a little bit. but if the pitch is coming and you can tell right away it isn't curving, and it's something like a high fastball, then your fast twitch muscles can either go for that or just lay off it.

anticipation really helps so that you can think ahead of time if you want to swing or not based on what you see. you might not be right all the time, and you're usually going to be wrong, but you at least want a filter in your head before you start batting. that way you're not figuring out what to do as the pitch is being let go

so for instance I played this asshole who would only throw low sliders and high fastballs, staring at his hand helped me lay off his low sliders and go after the high fastballs. and sometimes if I was in an unfavorable count then you'll know to at least try and foul off the sliders or swing low at that shit

im not sure about that. johnny park was in our madden league and got booted for his trash style of play. then before i got on to remove him from the league he fucked with a bunch of the contracts so the salary cap #'s were crazy. the end

I just played a random online, won 4-1. Was worried he'd be a cheeser, because his little pre-game info graph showed the Drag Bunt column and Strike % completely full, and Fastball % completely empty. But he ended up being legit. I actually won at the end on a triple play (why isn't that a trophy?!). He hit a fly ball with a runner on 1st and 3rd, advanced both runners. Got thrown out at home, then everybody just stood around for a while and I thought the game froze... then I realized he probably tagged early and threw to 1st base for the win.

I accepted the invite but the Reds are showing as a CPU controlled team in the NL will not let me select them.

I get:
Slot is already occupied. all slots are occupied.. it looks like. :(

It appears that the OS rosters will be completed this weekend. When that shit is done I am going to load that roster and we will start!

That is all very good advice. Thanks a bunch.

I played against a coworker tonight and realized my base running needs work. I was in pure RTTS mode and it's quite different when you control the whole team.

:edit: Still have my eye on those Royals!

Been playing some DD(my team is absolutely terrible) and I swear the SP randomizer picks the same pitcher every time. Effin Cahill(who of course play for my braves so I hope he has awesome year in real life)

Picked up some Silver SPs in Diamond Dyansty after beating a team so bad the mercy rule triggered........I had no idea this game had a mercy rule lol......I would have kept my foot on the gas in previous innings to make it end quicker
