This version will NOT require two Memory Sticks nor any swapping we're told, so it may indeed be the FINAL solution many v1.50 PSP owners have been seeking!
Not the most trustworthy source, but here's hoping.

I've never believed the "one handheld future" in my life until today :P
until you can stick Kirby Canvas Curse or the rest of the awesome DS lineup this year on a PSP, along with a touch screen and second screen, one handheld future is impossible.

PS2nfo is not trustworthy? They were right about Swaploit, why shouldnt they be now?

I really hope for you guys, I did the swapping for 3 days before I got my 1.0 and it really is much more conveinient even if the swapping isnt THAT bad.

But what I really hope for is an exploit for 1.51 or 1.52 because we still have to decide between homebrew and future PSP games (and Coded Arms looks really great)

im just gonna buy another psp and use the 1.5 for emulation and current games. heres hoping that a new color (please be white) or a price drops comes before coded arms or gta

I just got it confirmed myself that there is no swap involved at all. I asked one of the people on the team and he said not to worry, because there is no swapping involved. I told him there had been some controversy over it being close up in the beginning, and he said there isn't any swapping in the beginning of the movie. Hope that clears some things up.
I know this feels a bit like posting megaton news from S**** but here's a snippet from a "senior member" in the discussion at PSP Hacker.

I have yet to try homebrew on my PSP, as the memory stick problems with the swap held me back - that is why I'm so excited about this new hack.

The only thing I didn't like upon repeated viewing is that he run the same app twice. Hopefully this direct loader is not limited to one app.

Like a moran, I updated to 1.51 a few weeks ago. I don't know why. I think I was half asleep. I remember doing it, but don't remember why.

So I too hope these people crack into at least 1.51. I would kill for an NES emulator at the very least. Even if it was no music, as long as it ran fast enough.

I read somewhere back in the days, the pirated version of mario paint snes had a trainer included on it so that you could use the controller instead of a mouse. Everything is possible with those crafty pirates :lol

Hey wario, how does it run? I hear its slow but it looks sooo yummy.

i havent tried it yet. people say it runs very slow though, but the author expects faster speed in the upcoming versions

btw, wario ware twisted is playable on rom. obviously not as fun as the real game

Yes, Elitendo created an intro front end (not really a trainer) which allowed you to use the Snes pad as a mouse instead. It was some cool stuff, and it's cool that they're still remembered till this day. ;)

Some great news on the PSP dev front though. Now all we need is some way to downgrade firmware and we'll be in emulation heaven.

I was under the impression that in order to play something you must rename the rom filename (in this case AGB_ROGUE.gba) to rom.gba, which in turn, only allows you to play one GBA game on the emulator. (assuming that the emu doesn't NEED to be located in a specific directory, you could have multiple roms by having multiple copies of the emu in seperate directories)

again...this is all assuming that my impression of how this emu works is correct in the first place

i think you're right. there's a file selector on psphacker, but it still seems like a bitch to run different roms right now. it's the first version though so i'm sure a rom selector will be placed in future versions

also, you can run the xz spectrum emulator in the gba emulator it seems

No swapping
GBA emu

What's next?
No swapping to be true
GBA emu with good speed and sound
exploit that allows both homebrew and future firmware upgrades without forcing you to choose one or the other
better 16-bit support
better SMS/GG emu (will prolly need a new emu...old one sucks)
I win a contest that gives me a new 2GB memory stick every month

:b

This thread has been very usefull in helping me gather information on emulators and piracy.

Something about the GBA emu:

QUOTE
Today a GBA emulator (Visual Boy Advance port) for the PSP has been released! Currently it plays very slowly and has no sound, but the Japanese author states improved versions are coming soon. Also, it appears that ROMs larger than 16MB aren’t working yet.

I'm documentating injuries caused by overrheating PSP(due to emulation). We should totally combine our efforts.

from what i read, there's a trainer that lets you use left and right on the dpad, dunno how well that works when you need precision turning...

Wowowowowow, no swap+GBA emu=sign me up tomorrow, hope it doesn't require a second stick still (ie some kind of one time swap), even still, as soon as I have the money to put down on a 1gb stick, sign me up!!

i just checked out the thread and this news is awesome. i checked and have 1.50.. i remember trying to update or just connecting to the server to see if any downloads were available, it kept giving me a server error with '2000006' or something (who knows how many 0s there were!) This was about 2-3 weeks ago, anyone know what that error is??
