i just checked out the thread and this news is awesome. i checked and have 1.50.. i remember trying to update or just connecting to the server to see if any downloads were available, it kept giving me a server error with '2000006' or something (who knows how many 0s there were!) This was about 2-3 weeks ago, anyone know what that error is??

God gave you a second chance.

nope, not if they port existing emulators

maybe if someone wrote one from scratch for psp specifically
I have GBA emu on Pocket PC that runs some games at perfectly playable speed with sound disabled and some frame skip. So, it's not impossible. It took a while for that emu to reach any usable state.

Like a moran, I updated to 1.51 a few weeks ago. I don't know why. I think I was half asleep. I remember doing it, but don't remember why.

So I too hope these people crack into at least 1.51. I would kill for an NES emulator at the very least. Even if it was no music, as long as it ran fast enough.

I feel your pain. :(

Just tried out the GBA emu and the performance is maddening...POWDER (homebrew GBA roguelike) runs at ~2 FPS just like other games, so it doesn't seem to be a visual/sound issue causing the slowdown (as first: POWDER has no sound, and second: POWDER has poor visuals, and third: POWDER runs as "fast" as the rest on the emu)
I wonder if the emu works at 333mhz...here's hoping it wasn't and the next vbapsp release sees smoother play

dammit >_< so close to being able to play a roguelike on the PSP >_<

have hope...there's a reason why 1.52 is out, right? potential security flaw in 1.51!

I think it is inevitable, personally, and that's why I'm not updating to 1.52. From now on, my PSP firmware updating schedule will not be upon immediate release, as I'd like, but upon eventual CRACK. 1.51 until 1.52's cracked, etc...

well I have my last final tommorow so I will be up, then its a good treat for summer vacation, and as Im typing this there is a psp commercial on in the background, good timing

Confused.

Sony has a Load Game from Memory Stick option.

But you must use hacks and exploits to load homebrew software?

What's the purpose of that option on the PSP? Sony-licensed apps only?

I was thinking more along the lines of mini games and such.

Like if you play a game, you can unlock a little mini game and load it up from that menu.

ya exactly, sony only wants you to play there apps, they might have plans for downloadable small demos and apps, probably will never happen with all the shit going on know, If they did make it happen It would have to be something huge

Is there a way to do the one memory stick trick without a memory stick reader? :\
Sorry if it was already answered, but I'm really tired and reading a lot of posts takes a long time right now :(

a new 1.50 exploit is coming out tomorrow that elimintes memory stick swapping. you just boot from the menu and that's it.

That's great :) now all I need is to finally get my 1 gig MS I ordered :)
Any news on DivX and XviD codecs in the work? (and a good image viewing tool? the tool on the PSP drives me crazy because of the annoying focus thing :( )

This is true, but it should be noted that most of North America is currently in daylight saving time, so 7AM EST / 4 AM PST = 8 AM EDT / 5 AM PDT.

Indiana remains EST, though... at least for this year.

I hope that's true...in the new video, they ran the first part with the lights off, so I'm afraid there's something else, like jamming a paperclip into the UMD drive or sacrificing a cat

Sacrificing a cat is better than sacrificing a duck! :lol

Slight OT, but Northeast Indiana here. Didn't know we had yet another Hoosier (I now feel really dirty) on the board.

My parents live up in Allen, but I'm down in Delaware for school.

You anywhere close to Griffith? No idea what county that's in, sorry.

Love is in the air....

:lol Since you come around here, you should have them take you to Dave and Buster's in Chicago or Gameworks in Schaumburg. Great times there to be had

I'll agree about that Gameworks. I'll be in the area for two weekends in July, so there's a definite incentive to con my way to Dave and Busters.

Christophe Thibault has released a port of Rick Dangerous for the PSP, this version has no sound and is a little buggy but still good for a first release.
