for the video Windows Meida Player worked fine, I did it at my school and they have a horribly crappy version, not sure which one. And I love spaniards now :lol
So what are some must-have ROMs? , I never played many old school games

WITH sound and fullscreen :D im hanging out for this hack cos i got 2 psp but my 1.0 is kinda fucked with buttons and dead pixels and my 1.5 is perfect. but yeah they both run great, i had to tweak the settings a bit tho, sound on 22khz (doesnt really change the qual from 44khz) and with vsync off. with vsync on it stutters a bit. also gotta change soundspeed and graphicsspeed (not frameskip)

Whoa are you serious? With sound? Also is there a save state option?

I swear if they come out with a GBA emu, coupled with this badass snes emu, I'm gonna go out and buy a psp TONIGHT!!....and sell my DS!

save state is there :D chrono trigger runs slightly better than ff6 as ff6 chugs a bit when the screen is sprite-heavy. and also if you plan on booting a rom and it automatically running great your in for a bit of a shock. you gotta play around with the settings a bit to get it running to your tastes.

Have you ever played Snes games on the Dreamcast? If so, how does the speed compare between the Dreamcast and PSP emulation?

I remember games like Earthbound being nearly unplayable on Dreamcast.

no i havent, but id say its better than emus running on ps2. not perfect, but with tweaked settings definetly playable. i never finished chrono trigger on my snes but i will now :D

Some do. One of the SNES, NES, and the Rin GB/GBC emulator support zip files for roms. I'm not home yet so I can check when I get back in a hour or two.

Does Nester support zip files? How about the PCE emu?

I hate being a cynic but the thing that bugs me about this new video is the fact that the guy operating the system uses the "O" button instead of the "X" button...it's a clear giveaway that he's using a Japanese system and the 1.5 could have been faked. We all will see tommorow though...

BTW, PSP Firmware ver. 1.52 is now available in US.

Not that this is of any interest for anybody in this thread :)

you dont understand how close i was to upgrading my 1.5 psp to 1.51/2, im an upgrade freak myself the only reason i didnt upgrade my 1.0 psp is i didnt have a transfer cable/wireless :D , by the time i got one the word was out, DONT UPGRADE.

ps. dont upgrade again.

sweet I was getting worried about the size of the hack. After installing all the stuff I wanted on my PSP for tomarrow I only have 10 megs left. (Full NES collection and a bunch of GB/GBC :D )

A couple of questions I'm hoping can get answered:

1) Does anyone know when 1.50 actually hit stores?

2) Is it possible some stores may still have 1.0 inventory left? I know the PSP sold pretty well, sold it out in the bigger stores and in most cities - but some stores didn't even come close.

3) Can you tell what firmware a PSP has from the box? ie. is there a different identification number of some sort?

4) If 1.0 cannot be found, is 1.5 the current version at stores?

1. since launch
2. 1.0 is only for japan psps. irrelevant
3. no
4. yes

basically, if you buy a PSP right now, 100% chance it's 1.50

Answer to all: 1.0 never came out in the US. All the PSPs sold and being sold now are 1.5. In Japan, only the initial shipments shipped with 1.0. Now they are 1.5 also.

1) 1.50 was the lauch PSP for the US

2) There is no 1.0 is the US

3) 1.50

4) 1.50 is the current version in stores but will possibly be change to 1.51 after the summer

Hello people,

I have a question about Nester J.

I put the unpacked Nester J files in /PSP/GAME/NesterJ correct?
And Nester J supports zip files correct?
Where do I put the games? Thanks in advance.

Thanks everyone! One final question ... is there any way to tell which Japanese PSP's are v1.0 without actually taking it out of the box?

Is the hardware revision indicate this? PSP Hardware (PSP-1000) is available for import, is this 1.0, or is that hardware number irrelevant to the firmware revision?

the hardware model number doesn't indicate firmware. firmware updates are just software. no need to change the psp model

no, you can't tell what the firmware is without opening the box

No, they all have the same hardware release number.

From what the readme said, you can put the games anywhere on the card you want. I think it has a browser in the emu that lets you look for the rom dir on the stick. I have my roms in H:/ROMS/NES along with another folder for Gameboy games. Hopefully all emu's let you do this method as I like to keep my games organized by folder.

Crap, I was hoping there was some identification.

Oh well, there are still 1.0's available - but they ain't cheap. If the 1.5 hack works, I'll go out and buy a PSP tomorrow or Friday. I just got a small bonus from work - so what the fuck?

If not, I might just have to bite the bullet and get a 1.0 while I still can. :(

Wow, this is exciting, kinda like the old PC emu days (had to treat every SNES rom different to get it to run on a Pentium 155Mhz, and VSync....hah), but it will be so much more awesome to be able to take all those great games on the go (not to mention it always felt a little odd playing GB/GG games on a 19" CRT screen. I really hope the emulators are better than Dreamcast, I haevn't tried PS2 emulators, but I'm modding my PS2, so I suppose I will. I remember being super excited about DreamSNES, or whatever it was called on the Dreamcast, only to find that most games had pretty atrocious framerates.
