Yeah, 20 rocked! I have a feeling the second part is going to reveal a lot. If you know what to expect from a series like this, I can't imagine you being upset with it. There's just so much to like and when they began to reveal plotlines that have only been murmured before it gets real exciting.

Finally got around to watching 20.

Wow. What an absolutely fantastic episode. Right up there with episodes 1 and 14 in competition for "best Champloo episode." Some genius work right there.

This "second season" is totally awesome so far. 3 excellent episodes in a row, each better than the one before it. And 21 seems to promise to be just as excellent.

Holy @#%(&#.

20/21 ROCKED. As good as 13/14. :D

I watched 20 by the usual group and couldn't wait so I got 21 right after it. The timing and typesetting wasn't as good but it gets the job done. Anybody else thinking of waiting -- DON'T!!

It looks like some pretty powerful people don't want fuu to get to nagasaki. I really like this development; now the hunt for the sun flower samurai is a bit more than a family reunion. Can't wait for the next episodes.

21 was awesome
The fight with the blind lady (both times) was awesome, and the fact that they're fighting a force bigger than themselves is going to be interesting

I guess it's not just a family dispute

It looks like the final conflict of the series is about to unfold, can't wait to see the remaining four episodes of the series.

Ok...episode 22....

Weird as shit. I...I don't even know what to say about it. I mean, I knew something strange was afoot when they plastered new music credits over the normal music credits in the opening, but I really wasn't prepared at all for what I just watched. :lol

I just finished watching Episode 22. I'm now beyond confused. I have no idea where this series is going.

Zombies?! Alien viruses?! Huge asteroid slamming into the earth?! Is this going to be another drug episode, or possibly some weird dream?

22 stuff:

Well, it's not a drug episode, since Fuu didn't eat any of the mushrooms, and they were Matsutakes anyway, which are perfectly safe. The whole alien virus/meteor/zombie thing seems to be lifted straight out of Night of the Living Dead.

It's worth noting that if the series wasn't canceled in the first place, this episode SHOULD have aired smack in the middle of October. Which would have made a LOT more sense, thematically.

A few Champloo episodes seem to be sort of like spiritual successors to Bebop episodes. This one seems to be Champloo's version of Toys in the Attic (the bizarre and irrelevant horror story / sci-fi classic send-up).

That makes a lot of sense, Episode 22 just seemed REALLY out of place. And didn't Episode 21 have a "To Be Continued" at the end of it? I was expecting a third part to the story they started in Episode 20...but got this.

I'm pretty sure all, if not most, episodes have a "Too be Conitnued" at the end of it. :)

Just watched 22

Can someone tell me what the hell is going on? 0_o

Holy crap, did the ending credits slow down for everyone as well?!?

Did you keep watching after the credits slowed down? I watched that at 5 something in the morning and it freaked the ever-living bejeezus out of me. :lol

Anyway, as best as I can tell
it's a send-up of Night of the Living Dead. Bebop had an episode that was a send-up of Alien, so I guess this was the Champloo equivalent. It's also a lot more confusing if you don't know anything about the Heike clan (which I didn't until after I looked it up after the episode). Long story short, they were a clan that competed with the Genji (Minamoto) clan and were apparently completely wiped out in the 1180s (which is why Jin was so skeptical of that main guy, because he knew he couldn't possibly be a descendant of the Heike line). I'm sure the episode makes a lot more sense with the main group's translation notes, and I'm sure it made a lot more sense to Japanese people who know about their own history.

It also would have originally aired in October if the series hadn't been canceled on the first run, which would have worked out a lot better for the atmosphere.

Finally caught up on this recently (well with the *** releases) and it really does totally rock. I wish this wasnt a Geneon release though so we could get decent prices on the DVDs. :\

Ahh thanks for clearing it up, I like when the usual group adds history notes to the beginnig.

And it's also nice to know that this was supposed to air in october. :lol

What the fuck happened to the animation in 21?! The characters are barely recognizable anymore, it's that bad. Pretty decent episode, too, would've been great to have quality animation to match it.

I'm pretty sure the team that did episode 21 was the same team that did episode 7, which also had some rather sketchy character animation.

At least they animated fights well.

Man, that's ass. I just finished the ep, liked it a lot. Blind woman is crazy-wicked. Interesting take on Musashi, as well. It's a damned shame they went budget with every character, this episode deserved much better.

Damn, the fight scenes in 20 and 21 rocked.

So far, I'm still on the fence. I love the animation in most episodes, and the fight scenes whenever they're there. I think the finale will have to make or break the series for me.

Yeah i wish it had less filler.

well, I like that they're experimenting but 21 and 20 should have had better animation. They tried for realistic eyes, individually modeled teeth, a more asian look, etc. The animation director is also known for a rather "ugly" look to his characters. In any case, those were some awesome episodes. And 22... interesting. Like I said, I always love to see how Shininchiro Wantanabe experiments. This was pretty cool though not what many probably wanted after the dramatic 2 part cliffhanger-esque ending.

Hey, Champloo 23 is finally out.

I can't wait to find out how they managed to make an episode that could possibly be called
Baseball Blues
.

Just watched the first DVD. Loved it. The show has just about the coolest intro I have ever seen and heard. I like the pacing, the style, and while the characters are the usual trusty standbys (rebellious asshole, deadly quite type, and trouble-bound chick), I'm enjoying it. Hopefully it keeps its pace...

Episode 23 was fabulously bizarre, hilarious, and thoroughly impossible. The running gags in this show are great.

And the end credits song was awesome.

Oh man what fun. Hopefully it'll be back to the Sunflower Samurai next week though. We've got 3 episodes to wrap this thing up.

Episode 23 was even more odd than 22, and I didn't think that would be possible. Pretty damn funny, to boot!

The entire premise of the episode is impossible.

Made a quick wallpaper from the show's intro. Nothing special, just a screen nab from the DVD and like 60 seconds in Photoshop. It's intentionally slightly blurred, partly because I like the effect, partly to disguise some resize artifacts. It's 1280 X 1024...

Yeah, it's insane how weird 23was. Nice to see Ichiro and Matsui drawn at the intro. Then they had their view of americans "fuck them!". And Mugen ruining everyone :lol Can't wait for the next episode though. Supposedly back to some serious plot. Being episode 24, things are going to be wrapping up soon. It's gonna be weird once this show's over. It's been airing for almost a year now.

It's another filler episode, centered around
baseball
. Not worth mentioning, IMO.

It is pretty funny though,
Especially when the old guy walked to the center base and died, and every player short Mugen died as well :lol

Wow! 24 was just straight build up. I had to scream "NO!" when the episode ended as it did. Geez.

Mugen's secret history was the funniest thing in the whole series! Fuu asking Mugen something he never told anyone before.

Mugen - "I don't really have a secret. But I've been doing bad things for a long time."
Fuu - "I already know that"
Mugen - "Hmmm, I like women with big breasts."
Fuu - "I already know that too."
Mugen - "Oh yeah, I got in an argument and killed this strange old man."
Fuu - "Strange...?"
Mugen - "He went like, "Can't you see this seal case?". So I'm like, "I don't see it!" and just killed him.
Fuu - "...."

I just watched Samurai Champloo ep1-25 in one sitting. Man, too much violence, drugs and general kickass insanity in my brain now. But it was worth it, now I'm all ready for the FINALE tomorrow at 10pm. YAY! :D

Damn, I'm still waiting for 25 to be released.

You know who I've always been thinkinh about?
Remember that supposedly cowardly samurai from episode 2, Redeye Reprisal, that challenged Jin and would've overcame him if his employer wasn't killed? He said they'd meet again. Well, I'm kinda hoping/guessing he shows up again. "We'll probably meet up again. I just have a feeling." He probably knew from the get who they were.

Oh, and J2, I didn't get that part. I mean, it was funny, but who was he, the pompous guy who had that beat box dude with him? Or was he one of the famous samurai that was made an homage in one of the eps? There's a note one who, but I still don't know. :/

Does anyone know what fuu was saying when she was crying. She is talking to jin, then starts to say "But Mugen Will.."ends there, and starts crying somemore. Pan to Mugen with a look of sorrow in his eyes.

Mugen will what? Turn SSJ? Run for president?

it probably has something to do with her affection towards mugen

ehh. Dont know why that would affect fuu. Seeing how Mugen is probably use to being a loner. As is Jin.

She really cares for both of them, Orin. Remember what that loner she met up with told her about the people one travels with becomes family? I think she finally realized it there. Even if they're used to it doesn't mean they like it.

http://www.e-budokai.com/chambara/mitokomon.htm That's the seal :lol

And yeah, Im really hopin they sub it tonight. It's KILLING me. I know so many who gave in to the raw. Why would they wait until this episode to stall? It's making me sick inside. Every day this week has been torture

I don't think Fuu really *likes* either of them in that way honestly. Jin is just the quiet and more reasonable guy she can talk to, while Mugen is a moron dumbass she can crack jokes with and make fun of. They're both like brothers to her and she would want to lose either of them, which is why she said she wished the journey would *never* end...
