Official: Silicon Knights develops for Next-Generation consoles

According to the Canadian newspaper "The Standard" Silicon Knights will concentrate working on next-generation consoles. They have been working on them since early 2004. I've got sources that told me they got Xbox 2 development kits, <I think Xbox.IGN told us the same.

"Silicon Knights proudly ranks as one of the world's top studios in video game development. We are focusing on the next-generation console technology and development and are looking for several exceptionally talented and creative individuals to join our development team."

That's what SK said in early January. I don't think they'll will develop for the Revolution, because there weren't dev kits at this time, or? PlayStation 3 is out of the race, after Dyack's recent interview (February 2004) I'm sure: No SK games on PS3.

According to the newspaper they also recruited in January.
Game Programmer
Character/Background Artists
Concept Artist
Level Designer
Sound Engineer/Designer
Writer

I liked SK when I played Legacy of Kain, it was all downhill after that. What an overrated dev house. They are like Rare, but worse.

I'm such a fool. Once again I click on a Silicon Knights related topic hoping for some actual concrete news only to get the same old shit again. :(

It's not old, it's official :D

@Guns N'Poops
I only say Konami :D

So does that mean that we'll finally get a game from SK that will look like it belonged in *this* generation graphically?

No, Too Human would've have looked much better on the GameCube than Eternal Darkness, I think it will look next-generation like now.

Great thread Shiggy! :D

So they're on Xbox2, that's great. The market SK tries to reach seems to be there. Great decision. Can't wait to hear more about this!

Im not a really big fan of Silicon Knights. They could have made MGS: TTS a much better game, by making codec calls 3d, adding VR missions and making the graphics look better.

It's most certainly on Xenon. They were at Xfest.

I've heard from a reliable source that they are indeed developing Too Human for Xenon.

One decent horror game and a previous generation game remake doesn't qualify them as one of the world's "top development studios" in my book.

inow that they're out from under the nintendo umbrella, i hope no one will pretend to care.

Quality over quantity guys.

Agreed. Eternal Darkness is one of my favorite games from this generation. Awesome.

And I haven't gotten around to playing The Twin Snakes yet. I got it for Christmas, but RE4 has been taking all of my gaming time for the past month. :)

SK receives a disturbing amount of attention for a developer that has released one crappy game and one crappy remake. At least they employ decent voice actors.

What you said, I like and respect most of Silicon Knights past dev work, but I grow board with
the vaporous speculation.
