Official Sony E3 2005 press conference thread

Very modern and sleek, not to mention a simple interface. Not sure how stackable it'll be though :p

:lol @ Spider-Man font

Also very happy about the backwards compatibility (that was confirmed, right?). I didn't pick up a PS2 this gen, might have to pick up a PS3 though :)

So that's two out of three next gen systems revealed. Needless to say, if Nintendo doesn't show the Revolution, any momentum that they might have had coming in will be kicked down into the mud and spat on (And that's coming from a Nintendo fan).

Xbox360 is being owned just in every way imaginable: CPU power, GPU, Backward compatibility, multimedia possibilities.
wasn't this expected though? i mean seriously? we all knew it was gonna be more powerful, correct?

and damn, that is sexy. and this is curved to, expect outwards. one is inahled, other exhaled. they could mate. ;)

Damn, I didn't think they would go this in depth with the PS3 info. So far all the news is very cool, bc all the way to PS1? That I did not expect at all. I wonder, will we see some graphic upgrades for PS1 and PS2 games with this new horsepower. If not, PS1 games will look beyond ancient with HD connections.

Well, the design of the PS3 is definitely better than the 360.

But, at least it's not the HUGE difference there was last generation. The XBox 1 was just fugly, and the 360 looks almost as good as the PS3, and I'm sure to some people even better.

Hell, the XBox360 design may even be more Japanese friendly than the PS3 design.

Ya know Xbox360 and PS3 can easily stack on top of each other :P

Heh true :)

Design is decent, better than Xbox 360. I'm calling it early though, I believe Rev will look better than either.

Wow, that looks fucking nice. Definetly better than the Xbox 360 design.

Though, it doesn't look like it's meant to be laid horizontally .

To show off the PlayStation 3's graphical brawn, Sony showed several game demos, including an Unreal 3 tech demo of what appeared to be Unreal Tournament 2007. In what must come as a relief to developers, Epic Games' Tim Sweeney was on hand to vouch for the PS3, saying it was "easy to program for" and that Epic had received its first PS3 hardware two months ago. He proved the tech demo was real time by showing it again and manipulating the camera and zooming in.

Who was that saying we'd never see Unreal Engine on PS3?? :lol

All the people bitching about the xbox 360 design were owned either way. :)

Edit: Wow, it looks much worse laying on its side.. or from basically any angle but the one posted above.

So, is it cool to use a handheld as a controller now? Tell me GAF, I gots ta know!!

Yes, as long as the handheld is a sexy looking, state of the art piece of hardware and not some piece of shit 16-bit cash cow.

No. Am not liking that design but i'm sure it will grow on me.

Is that a slot-loading drive I see? Ugh. Those things look cool, but they introduce a long list of problems that can be avoided by using a tray- or flip top-drive instead.

Expect to regularly hear about people ruining two discs because they forgot there was still one in the drive when they tried to insert a second one and nonstandard-shaped discs getting stuck in there.

At least it looks like we'll get a choice of colors from the start. Black doesn't match my TV stand at all.

More newz:

A Getaway sequel has just been announced for PS3.

PlayStation 3's Blu-Ray Disk medium at 6x will feature 324Mb/sec data transfer rate. This will enable extremely fast load times.
