Design = subjective, however on paper, the PS3 hardware advantage over the Xbox360 ~0. Some cpu advantage, however we don't know real world efficiency for either (and assuming 6 SPE's if one is reserved for OS we have ~192Gflops which compares nicely with ~115Glfops for the Xbox360). If the r500 + EDRAM ends up having a significant advantage over the G70 (and the two seem a generation apart in terms of architecture) than the Xbox360 may v. well have some minimal advantage on the screen.

Nice and simple, but not sure how fond I am of it being concave.

Still, whatever. After the three unattractive consoles that we minded this generation, it's honestly difficult to not be pleased. I'm surprised at just how pleased some of you are, though. Maybe you were expecting something terrible and so 'acceptable' became terribly exciting.

Man...that is sweet! The only complaint I have is the Spiderman font, otherwise, that is one sexy bitch!

I'll be curious to see what the final comaprisons are between this and the 360 in terms of hardware, but (as I knew they would) they've done a great job on its design. Does anybody have the dimensions?

The problem with the design is that it is not stackable at all. How the hell can you put it in a home theatre setup and stack a hi-fi player on it or a TIVO box? Will it even tip over if you place it on a flat surface?

seems like MS is definitely not going to increase sales at all in japan at this rate. heck, same might be said about the US.

who knows, one thing for sure though, Sony doesn't have to worry about 360 it seems.

i think it looks damn sexy. xenon would have looked a lot better it it was edgy, rather than soft. however, both are pretty comparable now. and sony has got to lose the huge ps3 logo on top, move it to the front and leave the top bare.

I noticed the bandwidth issue as well. XBox 360 has twice the bandwidth to main ram that PS3 has it it's 256 MB VRAM and that doesn't even consider the EDRAM on the R500. I think this is a problem to say the least.

Someone mirror the controller, can't see it. Personally the controller is Sony's weakest feature baring the diamond layout and thepressure sensitive buttons which are invaluable to MGS.

Edit: Controller looks shit, looks like a cheap PC or third party controller.
