OFFICIAL: Starfield and Redfall delayed to 2023

1. yes. it's bethesda.
2. true but starfield was 5 months away. lots of other games release gameplay before this point and they release on time.
3. put me in whatever category you want but you're still an idiot.
1: Fallout 4 announced June 3 and released November 10 on the same year. Fallout 76? Announced June 13 and release October 23... of the same year.
Now I'm asking you, do you see a pattern? (Spoiler if you don't find the answer: yes! they all announced just a few months before the release date! Incredible right? What a world!)

2: Yeah and other games are announced just a few month before the release, Bethesda is doing things like that and I'm happy with it. As I quoted, Todd himself talked about that., but maybe you know better than him.
And I'm sure if the game was shown before you would have said: "Bethesda & Microsoft are stupid, don't show your game too soon" blablabla... If you want to complain you can always find something.

3: Crying because we don't see a gameplay of a game more than 6 month before the release, trolling people that wait for this game and I am the idiot? Sure, whatever makes you happy.

In the end I will wait the time I need to wait, play the shit out of this game and most likely enjoy it a lot because I'm a big fan of Bethesda. I prefer they take the time to do things right, only them know how to do Skyrim/Fallout like RPGs.

I think now it's clear. Some NeoGAF members have an almost superhuman ability to accurately predict software delays. Ya'll should stop doing this for free. Microsoft would pay you handsomely for your talents.

yeah i remember when Fallout was announced but thanks for reminding me. the thing is Starfield wasn't just announced so your argument makes no sense.

i'm not crying. i was hyped for Starfield and i'm upset it's not coming out. Bethesda aren't the most reliable when it comes to quality so I'm only speaking from experience.

I'm coping hard...someone send help
Best I can offer.

It's delayed cause MS bungled it already?!?

No but seriously, COVID......related.

No I thought it WOULDN'T get delayed because it was too far into production to be messed up by any bad management after the purchase. This one should have been in stone.

All the disappointed reactions…

This is what you get for believing anything Todd says.

Saw this coming a mile away.

Wow......if "Next Cyberpunk" is being floated around, maybe delay a full year then.

If it was going to be the "next Cyberpunk", it has to be AT LEAST a full-year delay. Not sure why they'd say the first half of 2023 at this point.

Well you don't remember well enough apparently.
As I said early announcement can be explained because it helps drag talent for the project. It's not the first nor the last time you see that.
You are hyped but you think it's gonna be a shit game by default ("so it must be fucked" - your own word)? That's strange but you do you.

Well, thankfully I have Pixel Puzzle Konami to play on my phone this year!!

Geez….that is quite the fall from publisher of the year

Hey man, they only need to put out one game rated at 92 and they will win it by the law of averages. 🤭

On a semi bright note, I guess my backlog can breathe a sigh of relief a little more this holiday.

Surely if it's that bad to dub it "The next Cyberpunk" then a few extra months can't be doing all that many favours for it?

We will see, I remain cautiously optimistic, either way it's a winning scenario, we either get a great game or more Bugthesda memes.
It could be both. Very buggy but also really good. Kindof like how I found CP2077 at launch. I loved it, but it was buggy.

I understand they need to do it and I want them to do it to release a better game.

However I think it is time developers and publishers start working on better communication and setting a more realistic release map/window instead of promising launches (sometimes with very specific release date likes Starfield) only to later find themselves eating their own words.

I know you do this to do hype to sell a new system, but I would really appreciate it if at some point any AAA game manages to actually release on the time that was promised. And by that I don't want the devs to crunch hard, but rather the communication to be better and the publisher suits to set more realistic deadlines.
Work on the game and when you are certain that it is in the final phase of development and close to going gold you can work on setting an actual release date maybe?

This just goes to show once more that Videogames are announced way too early.

Starfield was announced in 2018. It will eventually come out nearly 5 years later. There's absolutely no reason to announce a game that early when you have no idea when the game is coming out.
There would have been 2000000 neogaf posts about how much a shame it was that BGS was never going to make another single player game. they had to announce it to stop idiots and trolls from running that narrative

Dunno what game you guys played, but ER was already on top to beat every other participant they put against it. To the point of multiple games being delayed to not really face it head on.

I don't think one that hasn't showed at least sigthly part of its gameplay would have a chance against it.

Fair play to MS/Bethesda on this.

But given the utter bug fests Bethesda usually release, I'm guess first half of 2023 is also going to be a bit of a stretch.
I wonder if the flying mechanic is also causing them problems after what that recent leak suggested.

My guess is that it comes out November 2023.

Well that's this year done with, strange how between 2006 and 2011 Bethesda had 4 games for sale, 3 made by them, and now they can only manage about 1 in 10 years, too much focus on Fallout 76 online cash cows,

That just leaves Saint's Row for me, if it comes out!.
?

It'll be 3 in 8 years; FO4, FO76 and Starfield. That's nowhere near as bad as some other devs.

Pretty disappointing news, I was really looking forward to Starfield later this year. But it's cool, I have plenty of stuff to play in the meantime.

Take your time, and release a good game.

Watch Elder Scrolls 6 topping that by being announced TEN years after Star-
