Well alright. First impressions:

The game looks fucking gorgeous! I can't believe people are hating on how it looks. HD DR? Get the fuck out of here with that impression. I like the blur option more so I'm gonna roll with that for now. 60fps ftmfw!

As for online (PS3):

Oh boy. So me and Prototype gave it a try. Green bar. Lag. It's pretty bad. The characters I'm used to playing I wasn't able to pull of my normal combos. Example: Ling's 1 d 2 move. Fucking hell that was frustrating. He's from SoCal. I'm from Utah.

Then tried a few matches with my local here that's about 15 mins away. A little better but still laggy. Not perfect.

After that I tried a few randoms. Blind select is nice since you pick your character first, then it syncs with someone and walla, you play. Ran into mostly yellow bars. Not playable. The few Kaz's I ran into would spam UF 4, 4, 4, 4. Dumb fuckers.

I'm rolling with Comcast as well in terms of internet reference.

So for the game itself. Looks great. Sounds great. Plays great. Online? Not so good. Namco do something please!
Great shit dude, too bad about the online... guess we won't be playing each other.

This sucks :(

An example of lag but it looks so strange to me. Not the lag I'm used to seeing in fighting games.
I love this youtube comment:

"Dude...its because the game doesnt offically launch on the 26th,its the 27th.The street dates matter especially for online games because thats when the servers usually are turned on.Smash Bros Brawl had the same problems too on its March 09 midnight release date last year. The online was f'up until then next day. >.>"

yes yes yes this is terrible. it prob wouldn't be so bad if you could choose who to fight but you just get thrown into a match with whoever no matter the connection
That is absolutely retarded.

Yup, online's pretty bad. I'm also not digging the blind select then a RANDOM battle. If I could, I would try to play with the best possible connection, not a FORCED match. The only thing that this game does better online than SF4 is a lobby system. GGs though.

Damn it, I hate finding out I ordered at the wrong place. Still not in stock, which means it probably won't arrive tomorrow either. :(

Stopped by a midnight event even though I already had the game... About 25 people showed up!

Nice!

Everyone except one person was there for TEKKEN 6.

Oh no it's much better than KOFXII. The online is hit or miss. When it works, it works out really well. When it doesn't it's pretty bad. Green and blue bars are the way to go, and I've seen plenty.

I'm playing on a wireless connection on PSN nat type 2.

Didn't really have a too good experience so far ;/

Out of 20-30ish matches I found juggles to still be a pain in the ass to try and fully connection.(simple B&B stuff)This was against mostly randoms.Namco could have least made the connection quality bars not look so deceptive :lol

Isn't Wireless really really really bad for fighting games? I remember reading that somewhere, particularly when SF4 first came out. >_>

No. I have no problem playing VF5, SS2THDR, SFIV, and BB over WiFi.

I see the PAL conversion is as bad as Tekken 3's...
anyone who has played Tekken back in the PSX days in Europe knows what I'm talking about.

Online play looks really bad...hopefully Namco will fix these problems. :(

No, not really. I've compared them, and there really isn't that much of a difference.

wait fuck what the fuck, you mean we play it 17percent slower or something? That's how it was in the PAL vs NTSC SD generation but HD is a new standard and we are done with that shit now?

Otherwise it simply wouldn't be possible to play each other from different standards online (although it sounds bad anyway)

well yes it is technically because fighting games are susceptible to any connection interruptions. stability will always be lower with wireless, but a good wireless router with a good connection can probably just handle it OK most of the time.

Decided to give online another go on my personal connection. A little bit better. Got a few matches where I could actually followup post launch.

Impressions on SC: Still feels a bit tacked on, but not as throw away as Devil Within or SCIV's TOLS. It definitely looks like this will be the main source of income for fight money, so I guess i'm lucky that I don't mind it.

Please tell me you're making a joke and comparing the lag in that vid to PAL Tekken 3 and there's not something wrong with the PAL T6 release...

Joke post. Please stop listening to this bullshit. The reason why the pal version of tekken 3 was slower was the higher resolution of Pal TV sets (480i(NTSC) VS. 576i(PAL)) so the game run slower in the pal version. Now the game sends the same signal to every single HD and non HD TV on this world. There is no difference anymore between the pal and NTSC version for that reason. That is technically basically not possible.

What the fuck are you talking about? The video is showcasing the lag, what you're referring to is something completely different.

Thanks. Thought this would go into the same pile as Mad World which I still haven't played as a protest to SUGA.

Hey, just a little more impression on the looks of the game. I said before that I enjoyed the blur effect more. Gave the non blur look a try and that just seems to stick out way more. The AA added to the game makes the characters look a lot more smoother. Not sure on the 360 with the increase to resolution. But the AA is very noticeable. I think I'll probably keep the blur option off. But damn this gave is so much fun. And the boss is almost at KOF levels of difficulty. Nancy on the other hand. Damn thing is KOF levels for sure.

Edit: Oh yeah, totally forgot to say that at the Gamestop midnight sale, I was the only one there picking up Tekken 6. Everyone else (and I'm not kidding) was there to pick up either. DJ Hero, Rachet and Clank (are you fucking serious? :lol ) and Forza 3.

im still gonna hold out hope that the game will be better when more people are online..im getting it for 360 and will probably double dip (maybe even triple) down the line on ps3

Don't get me wrong. Rachet's a fun game'n all but there for a midnight pick up? It's almost along the same level as Tekken 6 but sheeeesh!

This is when we all realize that Gamestop is just staying open late on Monday and not actually having a midnight launch for your specific game.

Aww the webshop where I wanted to order the game in the first place got it today which probably means if I ordered it from them right now I would have it tomorrow. Then again, if they have it, the other place will likely get it today as well. And I can't stick around checking what will happen because I have classes soon. Bah, normally I never care having to wait a couple of days more for a game, but I really want my Tekken haha. :( What to do, what to do...

Could someone be a peach and post pics of their Wireless stick? I'm not happy with the promotional mockups(?) still being displayed at Amazon, and I can't find any "real" pics of the controller anywhere. Yes, I know I said earlier in the thread that I'm getting it in the mail within three or four hours, but I'm not planning on opening it right away if there's security tape on the box. I'm waiting for my Gamefly copy to arrive before I play the game, instead.

MarkMan, get into the Oct. pick up thread or your arcade stick thread and make with the stick porn. Pretty pleaaaaaaase? (puppy dog eyes)

Eh, that's not true. While wireless can add latency, it's not game changing since netcode is never going to be perfect for an online fighter anyway. Yes, you are adding to latency, but honestly, if you're playing online, you should just be playing casually, not competitively, since online matches are a terrible metric for your skill level and competitive play.

Thanks to everyone who's given their impressions thus far. I'm really looking forward to any impressions of the wireless stick.

I have the bundle pre-ordered for 360, but if the game doesn't at least have half decent netcode (my standards are NOT high) or fun local play variety then I'll just keep the artbook and sell the scraps on eBay.

Believe me dude, I feel your pain completely. It's the worst trying to get other people into Tekken, and trying to explain to them how to read Tekken notations. When I tried to explain throws and throw breaks to a friend of mine, he just gave me a blank stare and asked why I can't just say "square and triangle". Ugh!

Really though, if you live in a decent sized area, try to go to TZ and search out some competition. If that doesn't work, you could always do what we did in the Midwest when the scene was small. Just create a matchfinder thread on TZ that covers multiple cities within a 3 hour radius, lol. Originally most of us were really far apart, but over time more people within our local area's started discovering TZ, and the "Midwest Cirque", and local communities began to grow.

Or you could just suffer through the online play :(

Full green bar connection is like 3 bar connection in SF4 :/

The best, most ideal setting still feels a bit more sluggish than I'm used to with an online fighting game.

VF5 and yes Soul Calibur had much better online.

Sooo. Even on 360, yeah, the code is meh.

I'm not a fighting game expert by any means but I do enjoy playing them casually. What was the measured delay in VF5 for the 360? How does that compare to the Tekken 6 five frame delay?

I had pretty good luck paying VF5 online but like I say I'm no expert. I'd like to get Tekken 6 but I don't have anyone local to game with so online would be very important to me.

Well I'm about to head out to pick up my copy. I was hoping to hear that the online portion would be better but....I'm not going to cry over spilled milk. I'll just pick up Forza 3 as well :lol

VF5 is light years beyond T6's netcode.

Campaign is pretty rough. I really enjoy the voice work though. And the hell? Lei has an english voice? Whatever happened to that crazy accent of "You are not good enough!?". Ah well. I've been running Devil Jin through the whole campaign which has been making it easy. Should have it done later today then I can work on endings.

Edit: And I'll say it again. PS3 version. Blur off. Very nice.
