i agree, sucks for me cause my buddy uses Brad and Jacky as his main guys, and both are cheap imo ! ...except Jacky's throws...those are ass.

Bah, they aren't cheap. Just takes a bit of time to get used to their moves. I play Wolf a lot and love to throw, so I had to learn to watch for those opportunities, and how to rally a good offense.

Some characters are just easier to go on the offensive with a flurry of high and low moves.

anyone know which arcade sticks work on the PC and which dont?

I have the fighting stick 3 and it doesnt seem to work, but I heard the RAP3 does, not sure about the VSHG

I need help with Aoi, she is a character that play differently then my usuals, I love her character design and I want to learn her better.

But I'm having trouble using her in application in fights, like offensively and deffensively

but that's my next challenge, learn and get better with Aoi.

I do not play with Aoi a lot, but I do know that she is a very defensive fighter. Focus on her reversals and throws.

I love your new avatar btw. :)

I have that one, its good. Nothing wrong with it except for the lack of backwards compatibility with PS2 software.

Rented the game last night. Booted it up and watched some of the movie sequences.

Oh. My. God.

The video quality looks unreal on my 32-inch XBR2 through HDMI. In fact, I didn't expect it to look so good.

The clarity of the picture... the saturation of the colors... everything is so clean and vibrant. I kind of had that feeling like when I first saw Dreamcast games through the VGA Box on a PC monitor back in 1999.

Wow!

I will learn how to play the game tonight.

i have found today that brad burns is an almost unfairly powerful character. long arms, long legs, big combos that do a lot of damage :P
Brad rocks, you shut your mouth >:(

I actually feel that was about Lau and Lei-Fei, both of them have long combos that will rape you if you're not careful

I'm now playing in the "intermediate" arcade (just right of center on the map) as 4th dan and I'm loving the challenge. I've come to grips with a handful of moves and feel comfortable enough with them, so fighting people with similar skills is really fun. I'm starting to use guards/throws a lot more often as well as the Offensive Move (I think that's what it's called, when you sidestep followed by PKG) when we're across the map from each other and they start running, it usually works on them

I still need to work on mastering a diverse set of moves and longer combos (Brad is my primary character). Maybe I'll try to find some videos or something

Brad's combos are extremely damaging. That's why he's considered quite strong in VF5.
Look on Youtube for some good Brad vids. I'll help you get started.

Brad loses, but all of the combos he does are pretty decent (I think).

Wow, he really blows it there. That combo right at the beginning of round 3 was awesome, though, I'll study and steal it when I get home :)

Thanks!

Damn getting my ass well and truely kicked in this game. :(

It does look lovely for the most part though. Characters a bit too shiney but some of those backdrops are gorgeous.

HOLY SHIT

Just started the game up and when the SEGA logo kicked up it went old school and did the "SEEEEEGAAAA" voice!!!
I never heard it any of the other times though... hmm, you guys ever hear that?

no but that kicks ass.

I tried out Eileen today, eh seemed kind of boring. Plus she has a lot of down to foward moves that with a controller is a pain to pull off. Then I tried Sarah, shes fast and all but i just don't know how to put a big combo together.

Its really hard to learn a new character, I love the feeling of knowing a character inside out, like how I know Lau. To start from scratch, its tough. Plus I feel like VF4 did such a better job of teaching you the characters. Just giving you the commands doesn't help much, it still doesn't really show you how to use your character, VF4 showed you the big combos, how to do them. I need that, I feel lost with every character I try out.

I use Brad and Lei-Fei... Brad doesn't really have long combos that can rape you, but if he gets his little knee attack on you... OUCH because you can do about 50% of damage in air juggles. Of course, if you miss, you're screwed. Very easy to turtle and use a few quick punch then kick combs to do about 25% damage and knock the opponent down. I definitely have the easiest time with Brad.

Lei-Fei is just a combo machine if you know what you're doing. Way more fun to play than Brad.

I just became Master with Eileen. :D

How do I get those shiny green trinkets?

I got one with Brad when I got promoted to Warrior, which is the next rank after Master (just beat 5 10th Dans without losing). Though I have seen different computer characters at a lower rank with the item... so I guess it depends?

Also, I don't know yet if Lei-Fei can get the hand one, but there is one available for purchase in the item shop for his feet. For the small cost of... 50,000 :( :( :( :(

Hey guys, I've ordered VF5 with my PS3 so it'll arrive by the end of this week or early next week.

One question tho is that despite that there's no online play for the PS3 version, is there like a ghost trading mode like how Tekken DR on PSP plays? I was expecting Sega to have done something similar to this.

Nope. :( You're best bet would be the 360 version if it's that important to you. It's still a fantastic and very meaty game. :)

I have the Fighting Stick 3 and love it. I was very hesitant on getting it, and instead getting the HRAP3. Unless you are super hardcore, it is a perfectly good stick. It is a Hori stick after all, Hori is not known for crap products. I am still looking for a Hori 6 button pad for my Turbo Duo :D

Can you give me some examples of this? Right now my default is to do his PPPK if I happen to connect with the knee. It does an acceptable amount of damage but I'd like to spice it up if I can

This is what i don't understand. I am a 3rd dan and I beat 5 10th dans in a row and lost to the sixth and I never ranked up during that process and I didn't even get gold.

From 3rd Dan, to go to 4th Dan you have to fight against the same rank and win multiple times. If you lose multiple times you'll rank down.

And so on, until 10th Dan.

THANK YOU!!

but do you have any non you tube links so I can save it to my PC?
:D

You can save the videos off youtube in FLV format with DownloadHelper 2.0 Firefox Extension and use something like VideoLan Client to play them back.

I am really starting to get into this game, and I am wondering are there any resources online, such as videos or forums, that I can read/watch to see some more advanced ways to play. I can't help but feel that I have only scratched the surface of what I can pull of in this game, and I want to see what crazy sh*t I can pull off.
