Official Week 10 NFL Thread - The Manning/Brady Saga Continues...

I was 11-2 last week, not too shabby.

CHI @ SF - Chicago bounces back again like they did after the Bengals loss

DET @ MIN
ATL @ CAR - DeAngelo Williams vs. Michael Turner should be a pretty good matchup, assuming Williams gets more of a share of the snaps than usual.
DEN @ WAS - Washington's supposed to be good against the pass and Denver has no running game, but I don't see them winning
CIN @ PIT - Game of the week. Can't believe I'm choosing Pitt in this one, but Cincy isn't invincible. Steeler's defense will prevail in this one.
TB @ MIA
JAC @ NYJ - shrug
NO @ STL - Steven Jackson tears up Saints defense, but come on...
BUF @ TEN - Not so much Vince Young, more so Chris Johnson and Bills rushing defense...
KC @ OAK - there should be a playoffs to determine who's the worst team at the end of the season
DAL @ GB - I can't believe Rodgers isn't out for the season already with how many sacks he's taken
SEA @ ARI - come on, it's Seattle
PHI @ SD - tough call, but I like Philly in this one
NE @ IND - Welker and Moss should run over Indy's secondary, but this is also a tough call

BAL @ CLE - lol

more than what NBC is paying? Or more than what ESPN used to pay for sunday nights?
Good question, I'm not sure but i believe they pay more than NBC pays for SNF.

NBC also paid for first rights to Highlights. It used to be that NBC would have exclusive rights to game highlights until 12:01, but ESPN/Fox/CBS obviously flipped shit about that.

I'm surprised to see so many people pick Tampa this week. The Bucs earned that win against the Packers, but there is no way they have as many breaks go their way this week as they had against Green Bay.

Here a run down of 28 of the Bucs 38 points.

Interception return to the Packers 6 yard line - 6 yard pass for a TD

Blocked punt returned for a TD

83 yard kickoff return to Packer 17

Interception return for a TD

That's a lot of things that went the Bucs way and you can't count on so many of those kinds of plays every week. Freeman was only able to sustain 2 long drives. A drive before the half that led to a FG, and a really impressive drive for the game winning TD that started with around 6 minutes left in the game.

Also strong running teams pretty much have their way with the bucs front 4 as well. I don't see the Bucs being able to stop Miamis run game, and I'm not looking forward to facing the Jets or the Panthers later in the year.

The Empire was always better than the Alliance

although a lot of comments are disparaging Indy's secondary; ours isn't much better. Belichick has held Manning to some pretty poor games in the past, but we had much more talent in our defense then

Any idea if Brett Farve's groin injury has healed or do we need to listen to Brad Childress talk about Brett and how he was rubbing his groin?

IF Raheem Morris makes these guys play desperate like they did at Green Bay., they could get another win easily.

I don't get losing coaches sometimes. If I were a coach 1 and 9 or some shit, i'd bust open the playbook, go for it on damn near every 4th down, Try to block every punt. What do they have to lose except one more game?

Same mentality of when you're down 28 in the fourth and you kick a 30-yard FG.

I learned today (on ESPN Radio) that Miles Austin is an MVP candidate and Ben Roethlisberger is one of the top QB's in the history of the league (Cowher said there's five better).

I swear the media's memory is that of a goldfish.

I won't say he is wrong about Roethlisberger. :D

Please, I beg of you. Let there be one NFL thread without a Ben Roethlisberger igniting a QB list war.

Why would you pray to Ben Roethlisberger, only to wish for the blaspheming of him?

I imagine I feel about Roethlisberger the way everyone else feels about my Saints because of Dirtbag.

I understand hes a very good quarterback, elite even at times, but by virtue of the cocksucking his fans do and the shit talking and unrealistic pedestal they put him on; I just get annoyed hearing about him from his incessant fans.

It makes me want all the quarterbacks who are better then him right now (Peyton, Brady, Brees) succeed that much more so that it will shut up the annoying Steeler's fans. And in the back of my mind I have begun to actually wish for him to do bad just so his cult followers will shut the hell up for a few weeks.

I'll be here to twist the knife and spread feces upon your battered corpse when the Saints and its ELITE QB get destroyed in their opening Playoff game.

Tom will have a good day I believe but the key to the game is how well Tom talks to our secondary and how he fills them with pride and courage. Our secondary is normally far too weak and will get picked apart by the cerebral power of Peyton but if Tom is able to instill belief within his troops, then they can mitigate the damage and give Tom enough for the win.

Given our franchises history, going undefeated in the regular season and then losing our first playoff game would not be out of the question.

As happy as I am to be undefeated, im still a Saints fan. And as a Saints fan we have come to expect hardship, pain and suffering.

If were fortunate enough to actually win the superbowl, I think I will need about two weeks before I will be convinced that it actually happened. In fact if we do win i probably wont have even gotten around to believing we actually made it to the big game. I'd probably still be in a perpetual state of shock. So it might take til sometime into next season to come to grips that we actually made it and won (if were fortunate enough for it to happen in the first place).

I'm just being sarcastic, the NFC is pretty horrific and as of right now, I don't really see anyone within the conference challenging the Saints in the long run.

The sad thing is im not. There is this deep fear in me that we win both Atlanta Games and meet them in the playoffs and lose in a heartbreaker. Or take Dallas to the woodshed and get blown out by them after our playoff bye.

Im just not ready to accept this Saints team isnt going to do something that is going to absolutely make me pull my hair out like every year past.

I think that fear is ingrained in every Saints fan not named Dirtbag.

why exactly? pretty sure when they signed crabby tmq said they'd go on a big losing streak and lo and behold. he also picked the colts and saints for the SB at the beginning of the season so he seems pretty on the ball to me.

Saints are better now because of health. Colts are suffering too many injuries defensively (Hagler, Jackson, Sanders, etc.). In pure team talent with health, I'd certainly take the Colts. From now until the Super Bowl, health is key. Giants had great success of this in '07 and so did Pittsburgh last season.

Damn right it is. It's like you've plugged-into my mind here. I'm enjoying the hell out of this ride right now, but that all-too-familiar dread, that lump in my throat.. it's ever-present.

Weird, texans are favorites to sign Johnson?
http://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2009/11/10/report-texans-favorites-for-larry-johnson/
NFL Network's Jason La Canfora has an idea where Larry Johnson might land.

"The Houston Texans are showing persistent interest in Larry Johnson and it's a place Larry Johnson would be comfortable and right now they have to be considered the favorites," La Canfora said on NFL Total Access Tuesday. (Here's his accompanying tweet.)

He later said, "It seems like at this point something would have to fall apart between the Texans and Larry Johnson for him to go" elsewhere. Washington and New England were mentioned as other possibilities.

The Houston connection is interesting considering a missive from ESPN's Adam Schefter from a few hours earlier Tuesday: "And now we start eliminating LJ landing spots: No more Houston -- Gary Kubiak's team sticking with its backs," Schefter wrote.

Not a lot of wiggle room in those reports. The information man on information man violence doesn't end there.

"Some people spending/wasting time talking about LJ wanting to go to Steelers," La Canfora writes. "But they have no interest in him. Moot point."

Watching to see where Larry Johnson will land is proving to be a lot more entertaining than watching Johnson play football. (Unless you love watching 2.7 yards and a cloud of dust.)

Weird because earlier Kubiak said they weren't going to sing him. Granted Coaches' and GM's say these things all the time. But I generally believe Kubiak when he says something.

And two because McNair likes character guys and i believe he would be the first guy they singed with serious off the field issues.

He would also like to apologize to fellow Steelers fans for missing the big game last night.

As for me, I'm still a Jets fan that posts in NFL threads about a dozen times a year.

http://walterfootball.com/draft2010.php

For all the Lions, Raiders, Rams, Bucs, Browns etc. fans you guys been following the 2010 Draft?

It's never too early, but right now it's looking like the Ndamukong Suh sweepstakes. There doesn't appear to be any dominant LT's which is something the Lions need, but the DT position looks stacked with talent.

The Bucs look like the only team standing between Suh and the Lions, because those other teams are likely going QB hunting.

Glad we solved that problem last year.:D

You never know what Miami Dolphins team is going to show up on Sunday, thats pretty much the only reason I would pick TB (which im not).
