The Carolina Panthers have come to terms on the release of both LOLB Thomas Davis and LG Travelle Wharton.

We wish them all the best in their future endeavors.

I came up with an issue. I want to drop my current kicker and pick up a FA (or maybe even draft) but it won't let me cut him because it says minimum roster requirement.

You need to have at least one of every position on your roster (and two for a couple of spots). You can't drop your kicker until you sign another one.

So I'll spare the full list of ratings changes but here are my best:

Sherman +11
Thomas +10
Browner +9
Maxwell +9
Okung +8
Robinson +6
Polumbus +6
Portis +6
Thurmond + 6
Johnson +6
Smith +6
Wright + 6
Wilson +5
Butler +5
Santi +5
wilson +5

The biggest three are probably Browner, Thomas and Okung.

Oh look, the top QBs isn't Riggs. See DCX, I told you the names weren't always the same!

So uh, last night Earl Thomas went from an 82 to a 92, now today he is back to 82. What the shit?

So I have to sign Gano to a contract, lose that cap space when I dump him, just to sign a new kicker? That doesn't make any sense.
It's a limitation of Madden, not LM. You literally can't drop your kicker without another on roster already.

That throwing stick stunt of yours has boomeranged on us.

We did it through LM. I noticed him in the FA list too afterwards but didn't wanna sign him manually in fear of messing something up. Hopefully that corrects itself before the draft.

Awesome, thanks levious.

In other news:

The Washington Redskins today announced the release of 16 players:

WR Donte Stallworth
RT Willie Smith
QB Jonathan Crompton
QB Rex Grossman
HB Tim Hightower
HB Clinton Portis
FS Reed Doughty
CB Philip Buchanon
CB Byron Westbrook
WR Jabar Gaffney
MLB Keyaron Fox
LT Sean Locklear
LG Kory Lichtensteiger
LE Kedric Golston
LE Adam Carriker
C Will Montgomery

The Redskins also announced the following players were signed to new contracts:

MLB London Fletcher 1 year @ $5.588 mil with a $450k bonus.
MLB Rocky McIntosh 2 years @ $2.413 mil with a $250k bonus.
P Sav Rocca 1 year @ $857k.
K Graham Gano 1 year @ $476k.

In a prepared statement, Redskins owner LiveWire said "As we previously indicated near the end of last season, we underwent a complete evaluation of our roster to see what changes needed to be made to help our team rebuild and become an eventual regular contender in the postseason. We believe the roster transactions made today are the next step toward that goal. We will continue to be aggressive in getting younger as a team and to be selective in bringing in the right talent, whether through the draft or free agency."

please re-sign any players that you want to re-sign by sunday night at 9 pm pst.

AT THIS TIME I WILL BE DROPPING THOSE PLAYERS TO FREE AGENCY. FREE AGENCY WILL THEN BEGIN IMMEDIATELY AND WILL CONTINUE UNTIL THE START OF THE SEASON.

i'll post some friendly reminders about free agency before it starts, but one major thing is i'm disabling bid removal. so if you bid on a free agent guy, then get someone in the draft and want to remove it, tough titties. deal wif it!

Shit I think I must've gotten confused with my test league where he jumped to a 92. I think in the starting rosters he's like an 89 or something now.

That annoys me that he didn't progress at all in our franchise, sigh.

Guys are way more likely to "retire" if they're free agents. The game seems to do a lot of housekeeping and even young guys disappear from the free agent pool to keep it small.

check your draft pick trades guys, seems like they aren't showing! i posted on LM to see whats up

also, cap penalties will begin in week 1 of season 2. haven't decided what the penalties will be yet but i'll let you know before we start week 1. so if you're going to cut someone i suggest to do it in the off season

There is something out cap penalties on the main LM page. It mentioned having to do it manually. check it out.

boy am I stuck. do I re-sign and overpay young DE Jason Jones for 5 million plus?

releasing Chris Hope SS I'm pretty sure. Also fuck you Rob Bironas, kickers don't deserve 3 mil+ a year.

People with test leagues:

Did the player progression that happened right after the superbowl stick like that into the actual season? Pheeknicks says in his other league it went back down a little when the season started. seems like an important thing to test

This is an important question. I'd drop a couple of guys if I could.

The Carolina Panthers have come to terms with the release of six more players this evening:

Derek Anderson (QB)
Legedu Naanee (WR)
Omar Gaither (ROLB)
Ron Edwards (DT)
Stevie Brown (FS)
Sean Considine (SS)

In addition, WR Steve Smith and HB Jonathan Stewart have both signed multiyear extensions. When asked about the extensions, head coach and GM GCQ said "Locking up J-Stew was a no brainer after his performance last season, starting in only 12 games. He's only going to get better. As far as Steve Smith goes, he's obviously still playing at a high level and we wanted to make sure that he retires a Panther. Under this deal, he likely will. With David Gettis also having a good year and jumping 8 points this offseason to an 82, we've now got a legit 1-2 combo at wideout alongside our TEs for Cam Newton to throw to".

The Seattle Seahawks announced the release of 10 players today, including one surprise. HB Justin Forsett, DE Raheem Brock, LT Tyler Polumbus, QB Josh Portis, QB Charlie Whitehurst, DE Red Bryant, RG Paul Fanaika, SS Atari Bigby, TE Cameron Morrah and OLB LeRoy Hill all became free agents today. While the other 9 simply didn't have their contracts renewed, LeRoy Hill the starter at ROLB still had 3 years left on his contract.

"At the end of the day its about competition," said coach Pete Carroll. "We want to compete at a higher level, and we need to get younger and faster at several positions. We appreciate the service all of these guys brought us last season and we wish them the best with the remainder of their careers."

"It's about money," said LeRoy Hill. "I haven't lost a thing, but I was set to make $5 million next season and they didn't want to pay it. What're you gonna do? Its a business."

This marks the second time LeRoy Hill has been let go by the Seahawks. He was franchised after the 2009 season but let go when the Seahawks drafted Aaron Curry. Hill later re-signed for 6 years and $38 million dollars but he only ended up playing 3 years of that deal.

dont advance, just got home, there's a 2 month old puppy in my room. This could take awhile.

I'm too late or is my account bugged? I can't drop them because I'm not the league commissioner it says.

Don't worry about dropping players. Just resign whoever you want that has 0 years left in their contract so they don't go to FA.
