The fact that it took well over a year to get out a board game and a turn based strategy game is, well, stupid. I'm looking forward to both but let's get this party started already.

as I mentioned before, in my opinion, Big Huge Games can take all the damn time they want to get Catan out just because they're BHG.

Do you know why the developers of that game are kept secret? That strikes me as the kind of thing where, if they do have a pedigree as you've been hinting, would just make people more excited. Is it being saved for a later announcement or something? I can't think of any other games where the title has been announced but the developer is kept secret. It's kind of odd.

I think Arne is almost to the point of just joining in.

"Yeah, the XBLA team is pretty much chronically flawed. I don't know what the hell they're thinking either".

I think we were saving it as something special. :lol. I don't remember.

Man, I hope arne earns a lot to do his job. Fighting the GAF horde is never easy...

Give me this! <MS gives> Now give me that! NOW!

I want "A". In the next second: I want "B" (being A and B mutually exclusives).

If you follow the thread, there is no logic from start to end, but this is GAF after all.

arne is a trooper to hang with us. Poor Chris....his face got raped (I know, I'm opening old scars) and he's scarcely been back since.

What I will say is this: that lineup of the next 10 games is as good if not better than any 10-game series we've gotten so far. It's the right balance of retro (Tapper and Paperboy), classic (SotN, Worms), action (Alien Homonid) and casual gaming (Golf, Catan, puzzle games). If that's at all indicitive of this year's lineup we have no reason to bitch.

This week, we have reason to bitch, though. :p

Yeah, but thinking a little bit more, arne got a dream job: he makes money posting in forums (even GAF). I do the same I never won a penny :D .

Funny is that people complained that they do not know what is in the arcade pipeline. Arne says they cannot commit to a date, so they do not release a schedule. People say that they do not need a fixed set-in-stone release schedule, they only want to know what will be getting out in the next weeks. MS deliveries that, and people complain that they do not know the set-in-stone dates...

People complain that they are full of old school remakes, they want original IPs. But later on they complain that C:SotN is not ready yet, despide it being a remake...

It's sort of like the weather. In the winter people bitch that it's too cold. In the summer it is too hot. In the spring, everyone's allergies are killing them. In the fall they have to rake the damn leaves again.

People just like bitching.

I was raking leaves today, and it's freezing cold. Cluster****! :(

did anyone ever answer where castle crashers is?

As someone already pointed out, they will not talk about Castle Crashers anymore until sometime after the release of Alien Hominid. After all, they are both from the same dev, both in the same genre. Why they will disturb the sell of AH by making people talk about CC?

It is actually common sense.

Back in the day, they announce CC to create buzz about the dev, but now that AH was a little delayed, they have to sparce their releases.

Sure does for me. 85% or more of the XBLA games that are released I don't care about. GRAW2 I care about.

Are you on some kind of personal mission about this? You've said the same thing in multiple threads. We should be able to have the GRAW2 demo AND a new XBLA game. They're completely unrelated.

Normally I wouldn't do such a thing, but the level of whining that goes on because someones favorite XBLA game hasn't been released yet is reaching an all time high of ridiculousness. Damn near all that whine know nothing about software or software development.

Dam.. no new release today then?? IT IS WEDNESDAY!!!!!
GRAW2!!!!!!!!!!!!!!111111111!!!

No realease today. New games starting next week, apparantly. In the meantime, a huge and unexpected demo. I dunno, I actually think it's a fair trade (even if it's not actually a trade).

Especially not since the demo that got up is only available to the Gold users.

$50 and you too can receive the Willy Wonka Golden Ticket.

For $50, and the level of service you get, it's worth it.

Nah, I get to do the same things for free on the PS3 so it seems weird that I would have to pay for it on the 360. MS need to stop this nonsense before it gets even worse. I don't play online so to me it feels like the Marketplace is now like IGN with it's IGN Insider, I'm paying to get the time exclusives. Not worth it. It's just one more thing to add to the list of things that annoys me with the 360.

So stay PS3 and don`t use Live

Silver users have to wait because of the strain on the servers when the demo is first put up, no? When the PS3 achieves the userbase of the 360 and beyond 2, 3 years from now, I 'm curious how download speeds will be for an anticipated demo such as GRAW2. Also I don't see the big deal, so you wait a few days.

Sysgen said:

You're right, it's no big deal. But it's something that could eventually turn people away from Live as soon as Sony gets up to speed with their network. Again, it's just like IGN and their IGN Insider service. At first they had tons of content up for Insiders, but right now it's basically only hires videos and guides etc. Why? Probably because they found out that people stopped paying and went to other websites for similar content for free instead.

I think the same thing will happen here. Microsoft just haven't thought that far ahead.

Personally I think they should atleast keep the Gold-exclusive content away from the Silver-users Marketplace. They should show it when it's actually downloadable. It's quite annoying to check the Marketplace and see that there is a new demo up that you can't download yet unless you pay for a service you don't really need.

I don't think MS is worried in the slightest. It's going to be quite a long time before PSN even comes close to Live.

Even if you don't care about online gaming but do like downloading demos I really can't see how the PSN network will compare for actual download times.

yeah XBL can be a REAL dog when downloading something popular but compared to any other resource Microsoft has the fattest pipes in North America for downloading stuff. I don't know about Europe but in Canada I'm regularly able to download content from Microsoft at >1100k/sec sustained.
I can't imagine how bad a free network with absolutely no distinction between users will be, from a company not normally known for a strong online presence.

Microsoft needs to continue to make Gold a "no brainer" for people who don't have a lot of friends who play online.

What we do know is that Microsoft made a big to do about "XBLA Wednesdays" then time and again has failed to deliver. They never should have said anything in the first place.

The latest press release has clarified their stance on this. Sorry if you don't value spending time with your loved ones playing Zuma or Marble Blast Ultra and instead prefer to furiously ponder further sensations of entitlement. From the very beginning, DAY ONE, the program was described as thus, "All Arcade titles will be released on Wednesdays BUT THAT DOES NOT MEAN (MAYNERD!!!!) that there will be a new Arcade title every Wednesday." I think they added the "MAYNERD!!!!" part a few months back.

:D

To further flog a dead horse, I will say that just because MS has said "you won't get a game every week" and the GRAW 2 demo came out today, doesn't mean they aren't hugely dropping the ball.

I was reading comments at Major Nelson and someone actually made a good point: two straight weeks without a release, yet we're really in the videogame dead zone for releases of any sort. This is the perfect time for Microsoft to put stuff on XBLA and have hungry gamers buy it, but instead they're not doing anything.

I'm sorry but the idea that there are 360 owners going hungry with Crackdown and GRAW demos out and Lost Planet only a few weeks old is hard for me to believe.

I was just playin', Maynerd. It was for laffs! Anyways. I was just clarifying the whole point of the program in hopes of you avoiding any misplaced expectation, that's all. I love Arcade Games as much as anyone (More maybe? See: XBLA Sales Thread) and I am dying for all ten of those games listed. But I know that I'm not even close to bored or tired or done with any of the arcade games I've already gotten.

This is the hands down best justification for the XBLA team's inability to get games out.

I'm going to use this excuse at work with my boss for now on too. "Sorry that the work I did last week wasn't enough, and you'd rather furiously ponder further sensations of entitlement."

You're not denying the payroll thing i see ;)

Anyways, I guess I'm frustrated that I have a couple of thousand points just waiting for some good content (for my tastes of course). I don't get how FULL games (non XBLA games) are released in greater quantity than XBLA games. XBLA games are fun but they are simple and shallow games. They should be coming out at a faster rate than 1 a week. It just boggles the mind that MS could be making so much money on XBLA but they are not getting the job done IMO.

How long has Xbox Live been around? How long has the PS3 network been around? I'm not trying to defend Sony but come on XBL has been around a lot longer and should be expected to be at a higher level than sony.

Don't run away we love having you around!

I think that the very fact that two of the major software companies in the world are having difficulties with this shows how hard it is. We're already seeing improved communication, and the next bunch of releases shows a really interesting mix, with a lot of original content. Am I totally happy? Of course not. As a customer I couldn't care one iota about the development issues, only about the end product. But things are getting better communication-wise and I think we're going to turn a corner soon in terms of software delivery.

I don't think jumping up and down on MS about this is going to fix the problem. They clearly are not doing this on purpose. Nor is Sony, who is clearly having similar issues. It would be sheer madness to believe otherwise.
