Well, actually I wasn't counting scenarios with no releases/UNO deck/picture packs releases.

Anyway there is still time to MS to delivery those beloved scenarios: let's wait another week without a release, then a UNO deck, then a picture pack and then, finally, a surprise release of Track&Field! Do it, MS! :lol <joking ends here>

Top Arcade Titles (Full Versions)
1 Root Beer Tapper
2 UNO
3 Heavy Weapon
4 Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3
5 LUMINES LIVE!

Who bought RBT? I guess we can look forward to Atari 2600 Combat in the Fall.

See, I have special fond memories of the Atari 2600 and would love a compilation (Activision Anthology for PSP never panned out), although Combat on its own would be a hard sell for me.

People aren`t even allowed to like classic games now? Jeez, talk about arcade Nazis
Pac-Man, Galaga and Frogger were all in the top 10 best-selling Arcade games last year, so despite the bitching there is pretty good demand for them. That's one of the reasons I don't complain too much about these retro titles that don't appeal to me - there's a big audience for them, I'm just not part of it. I know there's plenty of games coming up that ARE aimed at me. We can bitch all day, but as long as they sell in good numbers, more will come as part of the mix.

I wouldn't mind these ancient crappy games (that are available on Midway collections where you get 25 games for $15) if they didn't push the single game that I do want AT LEAST another week forward.

At this rate, Dracula X Chronicles will be out before Live SotN. Weak-****ing-sauce, MS.

In fact, only 2 out of 10 weren't retro titles.

I spend more than the cost of the games for 1 drink in a pub, and that lasts 30 mins. All of the (3) classic games I`ve bought, I`ve been more than happy with.

You really nurse that drink, don't you? :lol

And speaking of drinks . . . I protest Root Beer Tapper . . . it is Tapper damn it! F#$k the politically correct root beer crap.

I must be losing my mind, but when did the game turn into "Root Beer" tapper?

I swear I can remember playing this game in a bowling alley back in the day, and it was Budweiser beer logos through all the levels.

Arne, you should really take transcripts of this thread and the Wii Virtual Console thread to whoever is in charge of XBLA.

The contrast is quite apparent.

Your memory is correct. The original was Tapper and it did have real beer logos. I'm not sure when the 'Root Beer' started . . .

I think there was a bit of an uproar over videogames "teaching our poor impressionable children to drink" in the 80's. Thus, they were forced to change it to "Root Beer Tapper".

Also, the licensing concerns may have played into the decision as well.

Is MS ever planning to release more than one game a week or more games that we actually want? What ever happened to Sonic?

GAF =/= everyone

See the chart I posted above. Not sure what happened to Sonic.

Next week essentially guarantees a good game with the other eight that are listed. Unless nothing comes out of course. :p

Half the forum have games backlogged to hell and what happens? Every week this thread is like some corny sitcom. People sitting bitching about not having new games you care to buy on XBox Live.:lol

For the record I love those old games. Some of you PlayStation era gamers need to chill out and go finish your console games already.

Classic games sell more primarily because of cost and partially due to nostalgia.

The game was simultaneously released as (Budweiser) Tapper and Root Beer Tapper, the former being limited to alcohol-serving establishments.

The comparison is laughable, I wish people would stop comparing them.

It will be nice to finally get out of the retro titles next week though, I hope it's something new and that includes skipping Castlevania as well.

crazy. you sure you want to make such a claim among the restless xbla natives?

i know a lot more work goes into XBLA games than just a rom dump but jesus man we are getting ****ing 1 XBLA game a month now (it seems). you're telling me these companies can't get it out faster than that? for christ sake alien hominid doesn't even have online multiplayer so what's taking so long! why can't we get 1 game a week (which i feel isn't enough in the first place) instead of ****ing rootbeer tapper for the entire month?

but, in truth all will be forgiven if i see that sweet SOTN download this wednesday :D

Dear XBLA,
It's not you, it's me.

Well, that's a lie, it really is you. You made bold promises when we first met, gobs of classic games remade in HD with online functionality. I thought it was a pretty silly hobby of yours, but I love you, so I humored your passion. But a hobby turned into an obsession, becoming so demanding and holding so high a standard that you wouldn't let a thing go through those hallowed gates to my dashboard, just waiting for me to grab it with my quivering...controller. (I hear the PS3 can't even do that, but I guess that happens when your self-proclaimed "Dual Shock" gets old.)

Alas, a tighter grip just means things slip away. Street Fighter was so poor you couldn't bear to release it in its home country; XBLA Wednesdays has turned into a game of "But...which Wednesday," and my patience is growing weary. I'd rather have more games than continue to watch in futility as you try to get your [catalog] up only for you to back out just as we reach the week's climax.

I've taken the money I would've put towards a renewed Live account and bought two Wii point cards. Maybe - maybe - if you ever decide to judge Worms worthy of release I'll think about moving back in for a few months, you know, just to see if we can work things out.

But right now it's time for me to move on.

xoxo,
xsarien

P.S.
I'm taking the Billy Joel CDs.

oh but you have a release list! you asked, you got and yet you still scorn the xbla you viewed with beer goggles that one frat party that you got let into because you knew a cool friend.

MS delivered what you guys say you wanted. but we're still left at the altar.

xbla livejournal ftl :lol

paperboy!? for the love of balls get the **** out of here MS! all i want is some SOTN and i will be content for another month or so. or maybe you could just make phantom dust an XBLA game since it is impossible for you to make it BC :D

Well, at least it's a release. And now we've got both retro-retro titles off that list. They're both really good if you don't have access to the Midway collections. I won't get too ornery as long as *something* releases each Wednesday.
