ok .. is there any FPS that's better than HL2 atm ?

I'm playing through this game for the 3rd time now .. and I'm not a huge FPS fan...

there's just something about this game that makes me feel good while playing it..

I've just started Riddick and it seems to be a decent game, but I don't think that its a better game than HL2 ...

single player ones ..

cuz if theres some that can be compaired to HL2 I'd like to buy them .. I just bought, as I said, Riddick and so far its so good ...

Buggy Loop:-

Deus ex
System shock 2

Shits all over half life 1 & 2 and halo 1 & 2

Indeed. This man speaks the truth.

2 of the best pieces of gaming time ever, in the case of System Shock 2, probably the best.

Can't wait to see what Irrational can come up with BioShock!

Spiritual successor to System Shock 1/2 = My kinda game :D

I truly believe that the Chronicles of Riddick game is one of the best games ever made, so yes... there is a better game

deus ex is pretty damn old and it might not blow u away like it blew many of us away along time ago.

system shock 2 isnt as old but its older than hl 2.

im sure there are demos for both somewhere tho.

is there any graphics upgrade mod available for deus ex? i borrowed a copy of the game from my friend recently, but well, it hasnt aged well.

The nice thing about these older PC FPS-esque games is that they are dirt cheap too. I got Deus Ex for under $10 a while ago, though I haven't had much luck in tracking down System Shock 2 on the cheap (a non-secondhand copy that is).

I'd say that HL2 is the best singleplayer FPS I've played. Deus Ex comes awfully close, but System Shock 2 just didn't click with me. Right up there with Deus Ex and HL2 are the first two Doom games, especially if you throw in fan mappacks like Memento Mori.

Honorable mentions go to Blood and Duke3D.

Most of these games have pretty poor multiplayer, though. Heh. HL2's, however, should kick off soon enough.

Hmmm, makes me want to reinstall deus ex to play it, for god knows how many times again, probably over 7 times i've played it.

funny thing about deus ex tho was how people just stand still and reload right in ur face while ur shooting them.

its just funny seeing like 4 guys looking down at thier guns reloading while ur unloading on them.

I found the second part of the demo extremely difficult and annoying. It plays like a slightly more wide-open Doom III. I think Doom III and HL2 both failed to recreate the magic of the originals.

Doh, I forgot all about that. Can't wait. Any new info lately?

Deus Ex is truly one of the most memorable FPS in existence. It's a game that transformed the genre as much as Half-Life did, deserving to occupy a spot up there with the top 5 FPS of all time.

In no particular order -

Half Life

Half Life 2

Deus Ex

Call of Duty

No One Lives Forever (Strangely, I hate its sequel -- everything that charmed in the first was absent in the sequel)

Halo 1/2 don't deserve to be mentioned in the same breath as Half-Life 2.

Call of duty does?

OMFG Your favourite game sucks compared to mine! FUCK Y'ALL! *le sigh*

Also, everyone who's so in love with Deus Ex, can anyone show me where the love comes from? I absolutely loved System Shock 2 but Deus Ex struck me as boring for some reason.. That may be because by the time I actually played it it was graphically very outdated - but that never stops me from playing another round of System Shock 2..

No. HL2 rules supreme.

Other good or VERY GOOD FPS are Riddick and Far Cry.

wait... I own FarCry.. and I've completely forgot about it .. gotta re-install that one

I don't even remember why I've stopped playing !!

I have tried to like SS2. I really have. I started anew 3, maybe 4 times, each months, years apart. Furthest I managed was maybe 30% before giving in to the abundant lack of fun I was having. I just don't like it. And yet, everytime the game comes up and people sing its praises I feel compelled to give it another go. But I have come to accept the fact I won't like it. Such is my fate...

All cornyness aside, I do like, nay love Deus Ex, which shares quite a few similarities with SS2. This years Riddick reminded me of DX in places.

Oh yeah, HL2 is good. It just feels so contrived to me.

I didn't like Deus EX either, but I played it a couple years after it was released and it by no means wow'ed me like it did alot of people.

I kinda thought System SHock 2 was boring also, hacking all those doors and reading all those e-mails. It is a creepy game though.

Half-Life 2 and Halo on the other hand I enjoyed alot and I think they are both better than System SHock 2 or Deus Ex.

.... when was the last time people played Goldeneye?

i mean, i loved it for years and years, but it's been trumped many times surely?

halo1 isn't as good as HL imo single player wise. I haven't played halo2 but I felt Halo was wayyy over rated when I finally got to play through it

Same. I even tried to like it while playing co-op, but that didn't work either.
