Meh.
Why not just watch an action movie instead of watching a really bad action movie (wwe)?
The episodic nature of wrestling promotes fan interaction between shows. Movies are one and done.

Have you ever read comic books?
Well there's your soap opera for men with muscly dudes pretending to hit each other.Yep, still enjoy them, mostly Spider-man.
If someone doesn't know much about a subject, they'll immediately retreat to saying whatever they think makes them look smarter - in the case of wrestling it's "you know it's fake, right?". It's why you can't bring up tomatoes without someone reminding you they're actually a fruit.

Comic books, in its most recognized form, are literally nothing else but a soap opera full of muscly people (mostly men) being drawn hitting each other.lol, not really. I'll give you that they are a bit Soap Opera-y at times, but if you're trying to tell me your average Spider-man comic features as much man skin as your average wrestling episode, I'd call you crazy. There is far more effort put into drawing women salaciously.

Proud of my love the WWE, oh and it's better than Fencing.

When the hell was this? I thought WWE basically banned chairshots.
I mean you aren't wrong lol, but I'd say there is more focus on the male form in wrestling. You are literally watching two almost naked dudes grapple each other (or yell about drama) the whole time, and unless you're watching women wrestle, this formula really doesn't change all that much. Comics on the other hand, are pretty diverse when it comes to aesthetics and visual styles.
Not all wrestling focuses on oiled up muscle heads. There is plenty of smaller fully clothed guys doing flippy stuff.
Sure. Again though, focus is mainly two guys, going at it. Every week. For decades. I like the variety of plotlines and fantastic elements found within comics, as well as the fantastic art and world building. To an outside observer, it really looks like wrestling is the exact same shit it was in the 80's. There is a wealth of unique comic books out there, with all kinds of plots, styles, themes, etc.
I get what you are trying to say but there is a lot more variety than you think.
Everything on TV is fake and with awful scripts for the most part anyways, so wrestling deserves no more hate. I enjoy Honey Boo Boo, so there's also that.
If wrestling is fake, then why did Godzilla learn the art of the Lou Thesz Press?

Why did a giant lobster do a spinning neck breaker in the ocean to Godzilla?
![]()
Why did Godzilla learn a picture perfect lady's body slam?

And you're telling me that's all fake? Real life techniques used by Godzilla himself. Nothing fake about it.
It's come down to what, of all Jeff Jarrett said. "To a critic, no explanation will do. To a fan, no explanation is needed."
Wow Jeff Jarrett said that. I'll have to remember that one.
I don't see how it's slippery. Slippery slope requires gradients. I'm stating an equivalence.
Well knowing Jarrett, he likely stole it from somebody else and took credit, like a good carny.![]()

I don't know man. If there's anything that wrestling is missing, it's not a variety of plot linesSure. Again though, focus is mainly two guys, going at it. Every week. For decades. This was when the IOC announced that wrestling wouldn't be part of the Olympics anymore. It is not a WWE video, it's a comedy video Kurt made about being forced to go into other olympic sports to promote the reinstatement of wrestling. When the hell was this? I thought WWE basically banned chairshots.
The gradient is between criticizing a person once for a single juvenile action vs criticizing everyone all the time for everything that's equivalently juvenile.
WWE is pre-determined, but so is every other sport.
Stern has the NBA being ran by refs and fouls.
Dana has everyone believing UFC isn't pre-determined. Brock Lesnar shot through the Heavyweight ranks, while losing. But it helped shoot UFC through the roof money wise.
Every single Mayweather match is fixed. He refuses to fight better competition and pays the judges via his promotional company. But his fights have some of the best undercards ever.
I personally believe the winners and losers of the NFL is fixed, but I have no proof besides botched calls and shitty reffing. The NFL is still the king of the US.
The NHL has instant replay, yet they blow 3 calls in a game 7 between the Kings and Hawks, that anyone with an hdtv could see.
I still love all of these(except Mayweather) and will continue to watch regardless if they are fixed. It's my reality tv, even if it's fixed.
How is it juvenile, and in what way is it more contrived than any other fiction on TV or the stage? It's literally the same.Because it's juvenile and contrived and hard for some people to see why adults spend their time emotionally invested in something that tries to recreate the real drama of competition and sports, as opposed to the real thing.
Upon further evaluation, WWE has reinstated Tenille Dashwood (WWE Diva Emma) but will take appropriate punitive action for her violation of the law.
The problem with wrestling is that it looks really fake. A choreographed fight scene in a movie still looks real. A semi-improvised wrestling match looks cheap, stupid and dumb. Nobody buys that a 250 pound guy would let another dude drag him around the ring or throw him into the ropes and then run directly into an obvious clothesline.

Wrestling is not just WWE.
But sure, can't argue that comics if you include manga have a huge choice of different genres.
