That fucking rap plagues my nightmares. It disgusts me that people like it unironically. That garbage RUINED One Piece's chances in the west! That and the dreadful voice acting, the severe editing, and dialogue that was childish even by 4Kids' standards.

When did you all start reading One Piece?
For me, it was back in 2003 with the very early issues of English Shonen Jump. A friend lent them to me.
Even with all the other manga in there, Yu Yu Hakusho, Dragon Ball, Shaman King, Yu-Gi-Oh, even Naruto, One Piece was the one that stood out to me the most.
When I heard 4Kids got the rights, I was nervous as I heard about the things they did to Yu-Gi-Oh.
It was worse than I thought.

That is why I can't defend the rap, or 98% of the 4Kids dub. The 2% is Marc Diraison as Zoro. He was the only one that was properly directed. A shame he had the worst lines...

It also didn't help that Naruto was starting and everyone was like "Oh my god it's so mature and adult". Those damn kids probably got one hell of a rude awakening when they got to filler hell, or the timeskip.

The rap is seriously the least of the problems with the 4kids' version.

Don't even remember what this scene is but... the image sums it up (especially since there are other scenes where they remove blood, why didn't they do it for this scene?)

I picked the ones that for the most part are the most nonsensical changes. I left out the bits where they censored out Smoker and Crocodile's cigars leaving just clouds of smoke in front of them. (This at least KIND OF makes sense for Smoker, and for Crocodile there's only one scene where they didn't scrub out the cloud of smoke, but it's still hilarious.)

Both chapters are pretty much the same, same buildup and everything and same final panel... I'm going to go ahead and say that's it for Doflamingo. Doflamingo is a tough mother fucker though, so he could come back, but who knows.

He's involved in the the slave trade, devil fruit trafficking, even development of WMDs apparently, and is the main supplier of Kaido's forces. Possibly also the source of the bomb that Crocodile had.

In a world of pirates, he stands out as particularly vile.

And THIS MAN is afraid of Kaido.

Yes, the paper quality isn't very good and it's the same size as the regular volumes, but for people who care more about space and less volume maintenance, it's passable.
